Well the RS3 is 83k here and the S3 is 55k so it’s a big difference, that’s why I picked up the S3! Also is my first sporty fast car.

These cars drive very differently golf R and S3. Love them both but I picked the S3. Engine and drive train are similar they suspension is set up very differently.

Why compare this to a golf? I get they have the same drivetrain and engine but very few people are considering one or the other.
If I want a ricey looking teenager hatch, I want the golf. If I want a sleeper sedan, I want the s3.

Also you get the new torque vectoring rear differential with drift mode standard in the Golf R and already comes with adoptive suspension, big brakes, heated and cooled seats and a heated flat bottom steering wheel. Seats in the Golf R are also Napa leather. I would go for a RS3 and skip the S3 or just get a Golf R for $45,000 fully loaded

@@mqbr22 No I haven't been in one although from what I've seen and heard every single car reviewer has said something bad about the infotainment in your car as opposed to the audis MMI infotainment literally almost every car reviewer has praised and specifically called out the VW infotainment in the golf R. As far as I heard from those reviews the climate control and other important features we often change everytime we get into a vehicle are all in the infotainment which is touch screen.

I think you said all the right things and came to the wrong conclusion. I think the choice between the 55k S3 and 59k RS3 is probably the RS. Which means a pass on this car. And for those who can't or won't afford the RS (which is many many people) or want to live with the RS everyday then get the Golf and save a boatload (or get a really good weekend toy for the difference). For my money I'll take the BMW though, I have owned a few and driven more Audi's and their driving dynamics are so far behind BMW they are clearly going for a different audience. OH can can we mention all the flack BMW gets for their new grille and somehow not mention Audi's? I mean this thing is 87% grill and two headlights. The rest of the car is very nice and very bland.

You're talking to someone who grew up in BMWs, and currently owns two. I derive no joy from calling out the brand for their awful designs and soulless driving experiences, but that's the direction BMW has gone.

The rs is being marked up like 10-20 grand tho....

@@DriveBreakFixRepeat When you talked about not getting power when you need it sometimes and it annoyed you a bit. The fix to that is flip the gear selector down one from D to S you won't have that problem anymore :). Also in manual mode if you enter into manual mode when your in D select then manual mode will automatically go back into automatic D select after a period of time that you don't shift manually. If you're in S drive select then go into manual mode it will never put you back into auto mode until you shut the car off or do select auto your self. That being said you need to mash the pedal in regular D mode to get the power your looking for and yeah it doesn't always give it to you how you want it

Here’s the difference. You can buy an S3 for under sticker, some cases well under sticker. Golf 8R goes 3-10k over sticker. There isn’t a single RS3 in a 500 mile radius of my location.
With that said, with those real world variances in price, the S3 becomes much more desirable.
