  • On the 25th May 19 we set off on our Coast to Coast walk which would take us through the Lake District, to the Yorkshire Dales across to the Yorkshire Moors, crossing the width of England, covering 190 miles in total.

GET TWO IT Don’t have favourite but I remember how hard it was getting up Dent, the first hill in the Lakes. I’m currently walking around the coast of Britain. I’ve walked from Teignmouth in Devon to Cromer in Norfolk in three years (short trips). Amazing experience. I’ve actually met three other people doing it on my walks!

Thank you for showing us some of the challenges and hardships as well as the amazing stuff. Good to see a YT hiker taking a sensible day off with an injury, good to hear about a boring stretch or an unpleasant wet/windy bit - not that you were complaining or negative about it but just to give a more realistic view of the experience for watchers who are planning their own.
I think l would have stayed in Richmond and split the two 20 mile days into three shorter days, with the four miles after Richmond included, 45 /3 sounds more comfortable!

I did my C2C. just two weeks before you and the conditions were very similar. you have made a very accurate video of the terrain and paths and I'd highly recommend it for anyone wanting to research the walk. It brought back so many good memories for me watching this, so thank you. I camped as well, although my itinerary differed slightly in the middle. I had a day off in Richmond, nd di the shorter walk to Danby Wiske. I'm off to do it again in May this year, with a friend. He wants to use B&B's instead of camping and hostels, so my bag will be significantly lighter! Thanks again.

Really enjoyed the video. brings it all back. I started this walk six days after you and it rained from day one with about 2-3 dry days inbetween the 11 days. Was camping too along way but had night in The Jolly Farmers guest house in Kirkby Stephen (best experience ever !) as only campsite in town was closed because of Horse fair and Gypsies and Police all over town. I had one more night b+b at pub in Ingleby Cross as morale was at low point due to part perished map in persistent rain and wind and near trenchfoot ! Scott was a really nice bloke at New Ing Lodge in Shap and presented an excellent value quality breakfast . My Lasagne however at the Fox and Hounds in Ennersdale had unconvincing cut up beefburgers for meat inside !! Wouldn`t of changed a thing though and excellent work soldiering on with that ankle. The West Highland Way walk I did same time last year was unusually bathed in hot sunshine and blue skies nearly every day so it all balances out I suppose. Dont be fooled viewers, The traiblazer guide map book does emphasive THIS IS A TOUGH WALK !!! And it was............ Look forward to your next video.

Might only get to the 1500 mile point in northwest Connecticut, but that would be fine.

      Hey there Kenneth!
You don't even have to camp it. You can b&b it if you wanted. There are even companies like packhorse who will take you main kit place to place so you can just take a daysack.
We could of gone lighter, we are always learning what we need, what works and what we don't. We like to be comfortable, so I don't think we will ever be "ultralight" hikers. We are comfortable with being in the "lightweight" zone of hiking.

Hi guys. I seem to be commenting a lot on your videos recently. You said on this one that 5 mile took 2 hours. I use 5 mile as my gauge cos its the distance to work and takes me an hour. Can I ask if your longer time was due to weather or terrain ? looks like you got a good share of both . Im thinking more terrain than weather. The weather you had on this is more like what I had for West highland way and stepping into a bog got dirty water into my boots. feet dried but left behind sandy grid in my socks which was uncomfortable. would have been better with wet feet for the day. not sure wot you guys do for blister treatment and protection so will share some of my tips. some people suggest vaseline to reduce friction. no, as its a grease it will make dirt stick and rub I prefer talc. put it on before and after your day walk. its cheaper than compeed and hope save you needing them. if you do get a blister just drain it. idea is keep the skin intact. I have a surgical needle and syringe in my first aid kit for that. I learned that from mountain rescue so its top tip for me. I will shut up now and watch the rest of your video with a few videos. All the best.

We used the cicerone guide book and map which was great. The route has limited sign posting however we found it quite easy to navigate. Be careful navigating through the lake district and the nine standard riggs section (especially in bad weather). But all of the 'things to look out for' were in the guidebook. We also took our GPS just in case however we used it only a handful of times. Have a great time!

      @@GETtwoIT looks like a nice tent 😊.
I was looking at them myself... I was stuck between the copper spur or the hubba hubba but I settled on a tent from Kuiu ( the mountain star ) . Haven’t had a chance to get out yet but I’ll be testing soon . Take care john 🙏🏽😊

Amusing how the chap pronounces almost every landmark, place name, peak and lake incorrectly 😂😂

OK, slight exaggeration on my part! 😉 Anyway, the errors make the video more real. Keep on hiking!

However, pricked the local nerves a bit on the Shap-Kirby Stephen route. Whilst you can be classed in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, technically and geographically at that point you're in the Westmoreland Dales.
Rather pedantic I know, apologies, but they do get feisty and if you check the signs they have Westmoreland Dales in prominence over Yorkshire Dales, after the original markers (showing Yorkshire Dales) were vandalised by spraying over the Yorkshire bit.
Pointless trivia, pedantry overdrive none of which spoils the enjoyment of the film. But walkers beware of informing a wild local how much you like the Yorkshire Dales whilst walking through historical Westmoreland aka Cumbria. Hahaha many a backpack seen floating down the Lune with eery banjo music to be heard for committing that "sin"😉😂

Thanks for watching! No your not being pedantic, always interested in the local nuances.
