Believe me, I am as annoyed as anyone at the butchering of Star Wars by Disney. But no matter how hard they try, they cannot take away what Star Wars has meant and will always mean to me. It's a shame that I can't look forward to many new Star Wars stories with excitement, but that won't stop me from remembering and appreciating the stories that were told out of love, not whatever spiteful slop modern day LucasFilm is trudging out onto Disney+.
Perhaps as fans before Disneys reign, we should learn to be like Luke Skywalker, either 1) Find the good that is there, or 2) accept that some things are out of our control and let it go, let the Force do with it what it may. I recommend GenerationTech’s channel, his insights alleviate a lot of the negativity surrounding the franchise. Even though I disagree with your take on Star Wars I do enjoy your insights on other franchises. Thank you for your time and patience.
"Never. I'll never turn to the Dark Side. You've failed, your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me." "And I... am all the Jedi." One is poetry. One is not.
Yeah Rey victory is just hollow compared to Luke saves the bad guy who is his father where Rey killed the bad guy who is her grandfather it a terrible message.
@Gunnberg85 that line was really made as a cheap knock off of Endgame (yeah I know they released in the same year so it wasn't on purpose I think, but it's funny how one had everyone cheering and the other was just bad all around)
Star Wars isn’t dead. It just sleeps. Every now and then, it’ll wake and give us something like Andor. But it isn’t dead. For now, I’ll wait for Star Wars to wake again.
Star wars will always be ok I love and hate it all at the same time I have my entire life probably will till I die I love the universe so much Star wars will never die in my eyes
@@lustrazor44they really have , if not negatively received. They idea ten years ago that people would be so apathetic about a Star Wars live action show would have been unthinkable
“How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand... there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep.”
The story of Star Wars is inherently timeless. It's a myth with a grand heros journey. The lessons and themes that it conveys are relatable to all people. It persists despite Disney's best attempts to destroy the franchise because at its core, Star Wars is a deeply meaningful story.
@@tombraiderstrums09 you do realize that the Bible is actually also a history book of both Jewish and Christian peoples, including archaeologists finding a city that they believe is the city of Sodom, among other Biblical historical discoveries, right? Also, star wars is probably going to be forgotten in a century or two, and especially so if people like Disney are the ones who keep making new stuff. Look up all of the massive franchises that were cultural icons that are barely known today. Walk up to a zoomer kid and say "Nanu nanu", or ask about MASH, or about The Shadow, and more.
Exactly! Disney can say they’re trying to reach bigger audiences but they miss the point star wars IS for everyone because stories are for everyone and the lessons inside of them. They replace morals and lessons for cultural trends, for cultural trends sake. Disney WILL be forgotten, but Star Wars and other inspiring stories will never die they live on! Companies die, governments die, and empires die but stories surpass them all! human creativity and imagination is indestructible! 😊
There is something to be said about the arrogance of those who toy with things beyond their understanding. As Emperor Vitiate himself would tell Disney: _"You harness immense power, but you lack the purity of will to direct it."_
@@AndreNitroX Oh that quote fits so well. Lucasfilm today has no power over the fans. They have jealousy of George Lucas, tha he built this franchise, KK will always be in his shadow, even at his worst he outshines her, she and her cronies want to change Star Wars into theirs. They even said "change the nature of the Force" in an interview for the Acolyte. Sounds like Jealousy to me that the Sequels no matter what they do will never be as beloved as the classic 6 films.
I used to think them calling the previous continuity ‘legends’ was a bit demeaning. Now I see it as an unintentional badge of honor because legends never die.
Legends is the only continuity I recognize at this point. It still honestly just baffles me. They had so many different stories and ideas they could work with or try to adapt and they just said f*ck it, threw it away, and just made up their own crap that nobody seems to have liked. Nowadays they can't seem to produce anything new of any significant quality, it's almost always costing on nostalgia. Something I've heard a lot of fans say( that I agree with) is they want to go back to the time of the old Republic. Completely separate from Skywalkers, where Jedi and sith were much more prominent and powerful and openly in conflict with one another. They could start fresh and go in so many directions with that, but they don't seem to have any real plans for that. They also don't seem to have a handle on the force or how limited or powerful they want it to be. Given how, strangely Andor and mandalorian( s1 and 2) did so much better than the freaking obiwan and ahsoka show I think they just don't know how to write good stories around force users cause none of them know what they're truly capable of.
Exactly the shills try to act like Star Wars and Disney Star Wars are not Seperate but they completely are based on the quality and the passion in the true Star Wars stories
Will never be dead because there's still a whole other universe that we can enjoy that's for the most part, not against most of the Disney cannon... until recently, of course.
No, not even this is true mate. Interest is not dead. If people were not interested, no one, not a few, but no one would watch. If they produce even 1 production that gets under a million watch through's, then you could argue a lack of interest. Solo is the only film that got close to being that bad on release. And it was a decent stand alone film. But that was also coming right on the heel of one of the sequel films when hate for the productions was at it's highest. The fact is, regardless of what parts of the franchise you like or dislike, someone else, somewhere, is going to sit down and watch. Truth be told, I am one of those people. And from someone in that group, while I do agree with a lot of the complaints, I am not one to judge a production on rumors, reporter comments, interviews, social media scandal's, etc. I will at least sit down for 1 watch through and decide for myself if I like or dislike the content. Take the Acolyte for example. It was very obvious in the first two episodes that there was a "gay" atmosphere around several characters. That does not bother me. All creators leave a part of themselves in the work they created. It is just natural. So I get it. But this is also Star Wars and I commented before in the past about it bring an IP that has more potential than most to go on and tell many different kinds of stories and stay in the SW Universe. You could make a high school drama based in Star Wars if you really wanted. So I don't mind if characters are gay. Truth be told the I don't have a reason right now to dislike the Acolyte other than episode 3 being just a tad confusing. Like, unnecessarily confusing. There was a moment of character and verbal contradiction. But it otherwise does not bother me. And I simply understand they will not all be gems. It is impossible. Even if Disney managed to make 10 bangers in a row, they are doomed to fail at least 1 production somewhere in there. You just do not hit gold that often that easily and I honestly believe people are at a point where if they can find a sliver of a reason to rant and complain, they will. Even if the complaint is nothing more than a footnote. Star Wars will not die because it is cross generational. How movies are maid and there focus is changing to meet popular demand. Most Star Wars fans are 20+ years old. We are not the only generation for them to cater to any more. Change is inevitable and Star Wars will be one of those things where the good and bad will be dependent on when you were born, how you were introduced, and what your personal take on newer content is. People in the last 10 years did not grow up on the Legends material. They now have consistent film media to watch and don't need to go to books to fill in a 10 year gap between films. To them, this is going to be okay and enjoyable.
It's just the universe that's amazing, so people will keep writing stories. But the stories will all be mediocre. I don't find Andor and Mandalorian particularly good, just ok. They had their moments, but were otherwise boring and I don't remember anything apart from the prison break and Luke showing up.
@@nightmareTomek yep, and it all comes down to personal taste. It is also going to be one of those IPs that just won't make everyone happy all at once and a lot of people I see on RUclips at like it should.
Thanks for posting this! Because of Disney’s common failings with Star Wars I have had either apathy and contempt in regards to the franchise that was one of the pillars of my childhood. This video reminded me of the love I’ve had and have been losing for years now. Thank you! I’m going to go back and watch the good movies again
I have felt so dissapointed and heartbroken by Disney Star Wars, but this man rejuvenated my love for Star Wars so well. Just focus on the good stuff maybe even find amazing storing from the EU, there is 40 years of content there
This means so much to me, this is because many of my friends aren't Star Wars fans and can't understand why I love this series so much, and I've never quite had words to explain why I love this. But once again, you, Samwise, take things that may be seen as childish (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Star Wars, and just movies in general) and you fight for them by giving words to them and showing why these childish things are so important because they hold quality and meaning, and a spark of hope for the individual and humanity itself. Thank you Master Samwise :)
All the people continually saying Star Wars will die don’t understand that it never will because the true fans are always faithful to the power of the story George created
@Imbatmn57 Not really true. George and a few others also were editors. There's also a whole video that explains how it still would have been great before the re-edit. Also you could say that for any other aspect for any movie. If the visual effects artists or propmakers were bad at their jobs the movie would have also been a flop. Directors aren't actually meant to do everything. They envision, hire, and instruct everything. The fact that it's so great is because he did great along side the great talent he got to join the project.
@Imbatmn57 George Lucas was the chief editor on the original Star Wars. He oversaw the entire process and edited the acclaimed gunport sequence himself. His wife Marcia only edited a third of the movie and left to work on another movie before the final edit was even completed. There were two other editors who edited the other 2/3 of the movie. The notion that Lucas had nothing to do with the editing of the original movie, that he's a terrible editor, or that his wife singlehandedly saved from the movie from him--it's all a myth. ruclips.net/video/olqVGz6mOVE/видео.html
@@lupolinareven as a kid i only liked episode 2 for obi wans arc and everytime dooku apereared But yes i dont like sand and a lot with anakin is only good for the memes
This is such an uplifting video, and especially in such a dark time for Star Wars as now, this was needed more than ever, and it is also beautiful how this video talks about uplifting morals, while having an uplifting theme in itself. It is also beautiful and kind of like poetry that rhymes that no matter how bad evil seems to prevail (or Disney in real world circumstances) good can always prevail, even if good in these real world circumstances is looking at the masterpieces of old, those projects and what they mean to us can never be destroyed, it will always be with us, and that is better than nothing. Even though Disney has ruined a beloved franchise the way evil ruins things, evil can never win because goodness can never be extinguished, and neither can the memory of good and true Star Wars. Thank you for making this truly beautiful video, it is sincerely uplifting, especially during Star Wars' darkest hour.
You are the liberator of hope reminding us of how great the saga is SW is in the hands of those who don’t comprehend it. Your thesis here is probably the best thing fans ever needed we are in your debt.
I've tried to have hope for the past decade, and over the course of that decade, my enthusiasm for new content has shifted from denial to apathy. For the first four or so years after the continuity reboot, I deluded myself into thinking that it could fit into the previous timeline, until Captain Fordo demonstrated that such mental gymnastics were an exercise in futility.
@@Daniel_Huffman Such strong emotions, love, hate, heart break. There's nothing we can do, thus no point in being angry either. I don't care, if they so desperately want to fail at film making, just let them. Star Wars isn't the only franchise going down the drain. Nearly every film and gaming franchise is.
Star Wars and Lord of the Rings cannot die from murder. They tell stories of truth, and the Truth cannot die. It can be buried, but it will emerge and remain great. Ask Caiaphus and Pilate. They tried killing the Truth, and He emerged triumphant.
And besides, for Star Wars, we'll always have the OT and PT, regardless of what anyone else tries to say. And for Tolkien, we'll always have the books and Peter Jackson's movies. The things we love, the things that truly matter, never die. And even if they do, they don't stay dead. Someone will come along, see these stories, and find a way to honor them.
When you talked about "the struggle may seem never ending and victory unattainable, but when faced with the choice between fighting evil or acquiescing to its domineering rule, we must choose the former even at great personal cost..." it reminded me of a quote made by Qui-Gon Jinn in the novel Master and Apprentice, when he says "It matters which side we choose. Even if there will never be more light than darkness. Even if there can be no more joy in the galaxy than there is pain. For every action we undertake, for every word we speak, for every life we touch - it matters. I don't turn toward the light because it means someday I'll 'win' some sort of cosmic game. I turn toward it because it is the light." And I feel that this is very essence of Star Wars and the protagonists we all love so deeply, that they choose to do what is right even under insurmountable odds. Thank you for making this beautiful video. It has reignited my love for Star Wars again
I appreciate the positivity. I do agree with you that I have no interest in current Star Wars projects, but 00’s Star Wars video games will always be special to me. KOTOR, Commandos, Empire at War, Jedi Knight, Battlefront, etc. Amazing games and stories
Excellent choice of background music. It's clear Williams drew great inspiration from Holst's Planets. The opening to A New Hope reflects the power of the orchestra in Mars, which I see as the grandfather of modern sci-fi space battle music.
Recently, I’ve been unwilling to watch any Star Wars movies. You’ve reawakened my desire to rewatch the *old* movies. The originals and the prequels. Whatever parts of Clone Wars I can get my hands on outside of Disney minus. Rebels (I’m saddened that you didn’t mention that show.) . . . And I never lost my love for games like Knights of the Old Republic and Republic Commando. Thank you, Master Samwise, for rekindling my love of Star Wars.
12:50 You are right to say that love is not some mere feeling, but is rather the desire and the will to seek the good of others. The reason why Disney Star Wars is so bad is precisely because we live in a time when people have never disagreed more on the definition of “good”. What is “seeking the good of others”? In 1977-1983, the good was about having faith in the Force, redemption and being loyal to your family. In 1999-2005, the good was about learning patience, training your spirit and your thoughts, and being loyal to your brother(s) - which was still pretty much consistant with the original idea (as a matter of fact, we could easily make a list of common values for the six first movies, as the story of Lucas was pretty much unified). In 2017-2019 [2015's movie was still trying to define its ethical stand], the “good” has become completely selfish: being able to choose your own path, not being told what you are or what to do, etc. But Star Wars has never been about self-centered values (except for the dark side users...) and this is why Disney Star Wars does not fit in that universe. You are so right to point out that heroes do not seek status, influence or power, but this is exactly what Disney Star Wars has become about... Think about the best Disney-era Star Wars projects: Rebels, Rogue One, The Mandalorian, Andor and The Bad Batch (I could accept Ahsoka too). They all have in common the theme of the search for the common good and/or the bond of friendships in the face of immeasurable dangers. Otherwise, since The Last Jedi, Disney is only pushing this terrible idea that once came from a Sith's mouth: “the Jedi are blinded by their arrogance”. And this is both a completely wrong interpretation and a twist of Lucas' vision. The fact that those are Palpatine's words should ring a bell, but people feel so proud when they question traditions and ethics that it is now the most trending theme in Star Wars right now... 16:23 Thank you for reminding us of these very obvious yet more and more priceless truths about the meaning of Star Wars, that Disney's bots and sponsored pages are actively fighting back on social medias, as they try hard to make us watch their crappy shows. You are a true unsung hero and a good influence, dear creator, and I will share this video with my friends.
I agree with everything you said, but to play devil's advocate Palpatine was not entirely wrong. By the time Anakin became a Padawan the Jedi Order (and the Republic) was not what it used to be, since we could see in Windu and a few others a level of arrogance, pride and hypocrisy not fit of the Jedi philosophy. Combine that with the inflexibility in their traditions and you could see their fall from meters away. That's what made Palpatine such a great villian: he was a skilled manipulator, twisting the truth to get his desired outcomes. That Disney doesn't understand that is a whole other story
Thank you for this. Star Wars was so important to me growing up, it has helped shape me into who I am. Disney's star wars has pained me, and for awhile drove me away. What I've Come to realize is that they can't take Star Wars away from me. I still have what was good Star Wars and can simply ignore the counterfeit coming out right now. (Also, I loved your use of Jupiter at the end)
Can I just say, a creator called Samwise talking about "the stories that really mattered" kinda gave me chills. Loved this video, you've made me remember what I loved about Star Wars. I remember watching those Old Republic trailers in 2011, and I remember what it felt like starting my journey on Tython and on Korriban. May the Force be with you, always.
My favorite thing is whenever people identify that music as the tune from Sleepy Time. Genuinely. It's such a beautiful piece and it's known as so many different things to different people.
What you're saying about the world of SW and the joy of just being in it strikes a chord with me as a player of Final Fantasy XIV. Even if the game falls apart later (although it is still pretty strong right now), there is so much to just soak into, with a history and lore to so many locations, a respect for the different religions and cultures of the Star, and a rich cast of core characters.
I think that the Episode 1 Phantom Menace deserves appreciation Qui Gon displays masculinity by taking care of Anakin and giving counsel to the Queen at the beginning Anakin puts out virtuously all he has to help Qui Gon's company with no expectation of benefit for himself And it is so courageous of the Queen and Padme to take action to defend their lands, Queen not waiting for the politicians but initiatively returning to Naboo with war plan in mind and Padme daring great risk to pretend like Queen I appreciate these
I feel like this is why anime usually captives their viewers. There's always some hopeful message that they want to teach the audience. Sometimes its just fun but other times it can be profound.
You gotta do a video on The Bad Batch and the development of characters like Omega, Tech & Hunter. The ending aligns directly with your central thesis here I think
Yeah, I think the Bad Batch has been criminally underrated. Animated Star Wars has been better than live action lately. Shame it doesn't get more attention because it's a "kid's show."
This is the point I have made many times over, no matter what comes we still will always have what came before, that cannot be taken away and my love for it can not be destroyed .
Thank you, Master Samwise, this is what I've been saying for years. While everyone else says, "They destroyed Star Wars," I say, "No, they've just created some bad media." Good media is not lessened by the bad media it's connected to.
Thank you so much for this video, it has fanned the flame that has been slowly dwindling and truly highlighted what's great about Star Wars. I will spread this video as much as I can because it truely what we need right now.
People really cared about Luke, Han, Obi Van and others. Nobody really cares about new characters and their stories now. "Star Wars is dead" means "Star Wars no longer has stories that are meaningful", new Star wars movie/series are no longer cultural phenomena, just content which you forget right after you watched it. It's like fan fiction - it can be objectively good, but it's still not the original story, it's something different. So, it's all about terminology I think. When I say "Star Wars is dead" I mean slightly other thing.
My 20y/o cousin recently rented out a theater for his birthday. We watched ep4 on the big screen and I smiled ear to ear the whole time.. then we played BF2 (2005)
That sounds like a fantastic way to spend a birthday. Mine’s coming up soon, and I might just have to take a page out of your cousin’s book. It’s been a good while since I watched the original film, and this video has put me back in the mood to see it again.
You seem like a very nice person. It's hard to not get sucked into the cynicism that is Disney Star Wars today, but I agree that we should just ignore the bad, excise it, and just embrace what we loved.
As long as fans who love the stories and characters are still devoted to the story, Star Wars will never die. P.S. Star Wars Fanfiction and What Ifs are the future of the franchise.
You're a man who enjoys Republic Commando (the Bad Batch can burn) and appreciates the Old Republic. You've seen how great Star Wars can be. Try as they may, Disney can't stop us from having witnessed what Star Wars was, and can be again. It's only a matter of time.
Despite the inconsistency the franchise has been since the sequels came out, we will always appreciate George Lucas’s incredible journey on giving us amazing stories and lore of the Star Wars universe.
Oh my God. Your word just touched my soul. You Get It! I love Star Wars for many nuance reasons but most importantly it is the heart of it all. You described perfectly how I feel about the OG, the EU and modern Disney Star Wars without hate and inspired me when others would rather have me remain in despair. Star Wars to me will always be the 6 movies, the EU and everything well made by passionate fans. The true Star Wars will live on in the true fans.
You really see how someone who loves the series can make good stories from it in the Legends novels. There are so cool stories in it, especially the ones after Episode 6. You can really see the love they put into it and making sure to do the characters justice. The Disney slop doesn't matter to me since I have these books to read that expand on the story in actual meaningful ways
to those who are having trouble with loving star wars in the modern day, i implore you to check out the old EU. if you haven't dabbled in the EU, or Legends as Disney calls it, then you have a world of untapped media to fall in love with again. all of these themes we cherish in star wars live on in the EU, so if you haven't checked it out yet, please do. you will not be disappointed.
My friend I discovered the EU around the time of Disneys trilogy and I became such a mega fan that to this day I only buy EU stories and merch! You are so right in saying that the EU if filled with what makes Star Wars great.
I’m with you man, they can’t destroy Star Wars for me. I will continue to love all the old material and they can’t stop me. It’s really a shame that there’s only a handful of people in Disney trying to do a good job, but the majority are political egotists
I love that you require themes be "uplifting." We used to built cathedrals that pointed up and naturally lifted our eyes to the heavens because it's good. But in the post modern world, liking that which uplifts is merely your preference; there is no intrinsic good in uplifting others. Who cares if art makes us better people or just more cynical. We need to normalize the appreciation of uplifting art
Love this video. Love this message. Love Delta Squad. Thanks for making this man. It’s nice seeing someone choose to focus on the good in the (Star Wars) world that’s worth fighting for instead of just complaining.
I get what you are saying. I don't have hope for future Star Wars projects, but I will always cherish the first six movies, the Clone Wars, and the others projects of the past that had creativity and substance. Disney can never take away my experience with those stories, which have given me a lot of happiness, and which can always be revisited.
I think you make a very compelling argument here that could be used to argue no media can ever die, so long as men can breathe, and eyes can see, you cannot kill a work of art. Those who are able to add onto it, to expand it, can do so and create new, innovative artworks off of those before them. Star wars can never die, not because of its story, or characters, or visuals, but because all surviving media that people enjoy can and will be built upon for as long as it exists.
Wanna watch this next May the Fourth now and say to the ones of us that still hold Star Wars in our hearts “We few we happy few we band of brothers the ones that know good triumphs over evil will celebrate this Star Wars day!”
Master Sawmise, I’ve watched countless hours of Star Wars and played the games more times than I can count. With that in mind, this video perfectly encapsulates the magic of Star Wars. You sir have my absolute respect in this fantastic take of this depressing situation. Seriously, this is one of the best pieces of media that I’ve seen in several years. Pour out some blue milk from all of us!
Really appreciate you saying this, chief. I get why some hardcore fans feel betrayed, or upset, or are disappointed; and it saddens me every time I hear someone say or see someone write that they're "done with Star Wars", or that "I don't care about Star Wars anymore", or other apathetic remarks. And save for a few outside-of-the-spotlight things, you're right, the Star Wars we love can't be "taken away" from us. (Few people have noticed this, but a few Star Wars audiobooks have very quietly been delisted and disappeared from storefronts, such as the trilogy of novellas about Kyle Katarn from platforms like Audible, over the last 10 years or so. But, at the same time, others have been replaced with abridged versions, etc.) But they still exist, out there. The theatrical cuts of the Original Trilogy are still out there. And so on.
Frankly, the one thing that brings me comfort is when people look back at this decade they will see all the terrible movies, awful TV shows, and horrendous practices and that is how they will remember Disney's handling of Star Wars. And in a bunch more time, only the good parts will ever be talked about or seen like Andor, certain parts of The Bad Batch, etc. Don't believe me? Look back at The Clone Wars Series. Seven Seasons that could be hit or miss sometimes. Don't get me wrong, A LOT of them were great, but most of Season 1 was bad and there continued to be bad episodes scattered throughout. Now, watch guides circle around those episodes and most people skip them.
Awesome video! I really like the point about how these stories inspire so many people, The Force Unleashed in particular really helped me throughout a tough period of my life, Starkiller choosing to be better helped me become a much stronger and mature person.
I just played Republic Commandos for the first time and I probably completed it in a few days. It pulled me in and made me excited for Star Wars again. Every moment I had the chance, I was loading it up and sinking hours into it (mostly because I sucked at the battle mechanics and took way too long on some levels lol!). My sister asked me why current Star Wars was so much worse than the games after I showed her a clip of Old Republic. I told her it was because the people in charge of Star Wars don't care about Star Wars. It's for money and fame, but the games are almost always made by people who actually care about this universe and put that care into hard work, passion, and time. I love Star Wars because it means something to me, it means family, it means love, it means loyalty. Disney won't change that.
If I had to sum up the problem with modern "Star Wars" (Mando 1 and 2 and a few other projects notwithstanding) it's that the protagonists are self-centered, and the story caters to that selfishness, no matter how illogical or idiotic things have to get to make them right. It's all about MaRey Sue Palpatine somehow being the "bestest evar" at everything. It can pilot a ship with no real training. It can fix said ship in ten seconds. It knows how to beat a trained Dark Side user with a lightsaber despite never having touched one before. MaRey Sue Palpatine isn't the only one. There's also Mando S3 Bo-Katan, the self-centered jerk who is somehow made to be right about everything in that season and ONLY that season, and we have REEva, who is somehow able to survive impalement by a lightsaber, and who takes WAY too much screentime in a show about Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's all about pushing these ugly, stupid, undesirable characters on the public, and then throwing a tantrum when we reject them like an incompatible organ being transplanted into us. Luke Skywalker works because his stories aren't just about him; they're about wider themes and ideas which can apply to anyone. Anybody can identify with Luke Skywalker, only narcissistic white girls can identify with Princess MaRey Sue Palpatine. Luke represents ANYONE who feels like they're being held back in life, he represents ANYONE who wants to do the right thing and not for his sake alone. At no point was he working for treasure, for fame, or for some personal goal, apart from wanting to become a Jedi like his father before him. Luke Skywalker is utterly selfless and fights for EVERYONE'S freedom. Fighting for self-expression and representation are fighting for oneself or at most, one's demographic group. The appeal of such characters who fight for a section of the population or for themselves alone is very, very limited.
Thank You Sam, as a long time fan of The Real StarWars and not whatever slop the mouse tries to shove down our throats. I really needed this! And, despite what anyone reading this will inevitably say about StarWars being dead. I will never give up hope that maybe someday StarWars will be free from the mouse's grasp and can finally be StarWars once again!
What a powerful video. This franchise meant so much to me. It is really the last positive memories I have of me and my father... Watching it with him as a kid, learning all the life lessons yoda taught me. Disney has pissed me off so much because it meant so much to me. But you're right, nothing takes away those memories, or the great content that has come before. Thank you.
Funny enough it was Disney trilogy that caused me to become a mega fan of the Star Wars expanded universe before Disney. I only purchase merch and stories from back then
I see what you mean but personally, after Andor Season 2, I am ready to say my goodbyes. I will still like the original six movies but at the end of the day, Star Wars is now little more than a former shell of itself. If the people in charge don’t care, why should I have to.
I'm glad I came across this video, it's nice to hear a positive message about hope and faith for what Star Wars ACTUALLY is. No matter how hard Disney tries to insert itself into Star Wars, they will NEVER be Star Wars. Star Wars will live on even if they kill all interest in the new, modern interpretation of Star Wars, the classic Star Wars will forever be the real one, and they can never take that from us.
this was such a beautiful video. i really hope that you're right. (and i was also thinking exactly the same thing back then when i saw those awesome game trailers)
I’ve been slowly falling out of love with Star Wars to the point where the only stuff I consider canon are the six Lucas movies, Rogue One, first two Mando seasons, Andor, and a select few novels, games, and comics. But I’ll never stop loving it altogether; the stuff that captured my imagination as a kid is still here. And not even Disney and its current mismanagement can take away what first drew me in.
16:57 Star Wars being "dead" is the same thing as Obi-Wan saying, "telling you the truth, from a certain point of view. But then Luke later says, "no one is really gone." So yeah, the message is still clear in that regard. But I can agree that Return of the Jedi is where all of Star Wars media should've really come to an end. Yes I'm counting the prequels because they're still context to the original trilogy, but I could've have been having a completely different conversation had the sequel trilogy done something different for the main story rather than end up telling the same story but done poorly. It could've set out to challenge what the first six movies established but ultimately failed doing so. Which is why I stll prefer things ending at episode 6. Nothing can top Return of the Jedi.
For over several decades, George Lucas was the guardian of art and storytelling... That was before the dark times... Before the Disney Empire... Thank you, Master Samwise. Some movies and shows in the Disney era have been art. Others are just content and have little to no substance.
I very much agree and needed to see this. No matter how much garbage they throw they cannot remove my love for Star Wars 1-6, the clone wars, rebels, bad batch, Jedi Fallen order and survivor, rouge one and others. I truly loved the reminder and message of this video. Thank you Master Samwise and may the the force be with you
The only Star Wars I care about is the fake story I made up in my head. It's a shame its downfall started in some of the worst years in my life, coulda really used some good Star Wars movies during that time.
Let them have the High Republic. I'm staying in the Old Republic. They can violate everything in the modern era, but that can't take away what came before.
I’m with you in principle but they make it so so hard
Letting go is the greatest and hardest act of love and strength.
You know what I am saying.
I think this is the most eloquently and poignantly I've heard this point made. Very well done.
Spiteful is right.
you see, just because the modern "official" stuff is turning into bad fanfiction, doesn't mean that we cant enjoy the good stuff from before
Or the good fanfictios/fanfilms of today.
Yes I keep finding so many amazing stories I never knew about from the EU. 40 years of content Disney threw away
Fanfiction comes from a place of love. The modern stuff comes from a place of spite and hatred.
And the animated from recent years?
Or rise from the ashes and build again. Starwars, or not
Luke's victory through love and self-sacrifice is such a huge contrast to Rey's victory through childish power games.
"Never. I'll never turn to the Dark Side. You've failed, your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me."
"And I... am all the Jedi."
One is poetry.
Well said, someone worthy will come along someday and make a truly great Star Wars story, just not now in this era
Star wars will always be ok I love and hate it all at the same time I have my entire life probably will till I die I love the universe so much Star wars will never die in my eyes
I'd like to add from my experience Star wars has always been bad in some way it's never been perfect and that's y it's great
Andor Season 2
After that, we'll strive forward
But for now, Star Wars is just woke again.
The sequel trilogy really killed a lot of people’s interest in Star Wars
The Shows increased it as well. Edit: Andor,Mando Season 3,Acolyte,Book of Boba, and Kenobi are the ones I am reffering to.

The story of Star Wars is inherently timeless. It's a myth with a grand heros journey. The lessons and themes that it conveys are relatable to all people. It persists despite Disney's best attempts to destroy the franchise because at its core, Star Wars is a deeply meaningful story.
You’re absolutely right. 3,000 years ago, humans were telling stories of angels who walked the skies with flaming swords, and we will never stop.
As Emperor Vitiate himself would tell Disney:
_"You harness immense power, but you lack the purity of will to direct it."_
Vitiate is one of my favorite legend’s characters, up there with Malgus and revan
''There is no death, there is only the Force.......AND I AM ITS MASTER.''
"You will pay the price for your lack of vision."
“You have no ambition only jealousy”- vitiate
To this day I still call it the expanded universe the true canon
That's an optimistic way of seeing it. And I agree.
“Hero’s get remembered, but legends never die”
- the totally real Babe Ruth in sandlot
Star Wars isn’t dead but Disney Star Wars probably is
Exactly the shills try to act like Star Wars and Disney Star Wars are not Seperate but they completely are based on the quality and the passion in the true Star Wars stories
"You will not take canon from me!"
"Your anger and your lust for power have already done that."@AndreNitroX
Move on. You are still clinging to a dead rotten corpse. That's not healthy
Star Wars isn’t dead, just interest from the general audience.
That was the entire goal of the video.
Likewise I am passionate about so many shows and movies because they inspire me and make me feel alive. Star Wars is central to my life
Disney may not be able to fully kill Star Wars. But they are certainly giving it the old college try.

All the people continually saying Star Wars will die don’t understand that it never will because the true fans are always faithful to the power of the story George created
Well said. 👍
Hate to break it to you but…people have a life expectancy.

I guess you could say Star Wars needs a New Hope. Have Hope fellow fans.
Underrated comment
Star Wars and Lord of the Rings cannot die from murder. They tell stories of truth, and the Truth cannot die. It can be buried, but it will emerge and remain great.
Ask Caiaphus and Pilate. They tried killing the Truth, and He emerged triumphant.
Yup!
Well said. Christ is King.
You have no idea how much I needed this, well-done sir! The nightmares, are finally over
When you talked about "the struggle may seem never ending and victory unattainable, but when faced with the choice between fighting evil or acquiescing to its domineering rule, we must choose the former even at great personal cost..." it reminded me of a quote made by Qui-Gon Jinn in the novel Master and Apprentice, when he says "It matters which side we choose.
I just became a fan of those games and their lore. That is the only Star Wars I need
This was eloquently said
I agree with everything you said, but to play devil's advocate Palpatine was not entirely wrong.

Has else here anyone else here found themselves watching to the end of video and sobbing 😭. This is a beautifully made video. Thank you.
I'm so glad you mentioned The Old Republic trailers. They are fantastic and the one with the trooper in the forest hits hard!
I recommend those trailers to everyone I meet that has interest in Star Wars. I tell them that is what Star Wars truly is

You seem like a very nice person. It's hard to not get sucked into the cynicism that is Disney Star Wars today, but I agree that we should just ignore the bad, excise it, and just embrace what we loved.
I love the message of this video and the fact that you used Jupiter from Holst’s Planets Suite as the outro music.
It’s really a shame that there’s only a handful of people in Disney trying to do a good job, but the majority are political egotists
strike me down and i will become more powerful then you can possibly imagine.
Andor is all we have left.
Pretty much.

I for real thought you were going to have some homemade star wars end credits at the end there. Nice video.
Master Sawmise,
I’ve watched countless hours of Star Wars and played the games more times than I can count.
But, at the same time, others have been replaced with abridged versions, etc.)
But they still exist, out there.
The theatrical cuts of the Original Trilogy are still out there. And so on.
star wars truly never dies. just look at it. people are still fans of it despite that they didnt release a single movie in almost 20 years
Picking "Jupiter" as the exit music was bloody brilliant
10:08 those trailers are definitely great
An outstanding analysis, and a passionate telling of, the real Star Wars. Well done.
I only saw this title and completely agree
Awesome video! I really like the point about how these stories inspire so many people, The Force Unleashed in particular really helped me throughout a tough period of my life, Starkiller choosing to be better helped me become a much stronger and mature person.
The Clone stories have always been my favorites
Thank you.
SWTOR is probably my favorite era of SWs currently the lore and the world building there is just amazing.
Weirdly enough it’s because of Disney’s numerous screwups I started writing to see if I could come up with stories superior to that of Disney’s
Like you've said, Andor S2 is the only thing I'm excited about. Might be the only great SW for a long time
I'm glad I came across this video, it's nice to hear a positive message about hope and faith for what Star Wars ACTUALLY is. No matter how hard Disney tries to insert itself into Star Wars, they will NEVER be Star Wars. Star Wars will live on even if they kill all interest in the new, modern interpretation of Star Wars, the classic Star Wars will forever be the real one, and they can never take that from us.
Samwise, please buy the rights from Disney. We’ll get you the money. From a heart-broken 52 yo fan who sneaked in to see A New Hope at 6 yo.
this was such a beautiful video. i really hope that you're right. (and i was also thinking exactly the same thing back then when i saw those awesome game trailers)
I love it that you talked about Republic Commando I love that Game it's my favorite Star Wars Game.
You have instilled hope in me this day 🙏🏽 Thank you💙
Great use of Jupiter at the end of the video.
Jupiter: Bringer of Jollity. Great choice.
The yapping is strong with this one
This video made me happy. Thats all i can really say
For over several decades, George Lucas was the guardian of art and storytelling... That was before the dark times... Before the Disney Empire... Thank you, Master Samwise. Some movies and shows in the Disney era have been art. Others are just content and have little to no substance.
I think I needed this, thank you.
Ah ! A fellow Republic commando enjoyer ! ;) I'm gonna be honest , this game and it's books might be my favourite star wars piece of media ever
oh man, this really touched me
this makes me want to go and watch the original trilogy. I think I will
Let them have the High Republic. I'm staying in the Old Republic. They can violate everything in the modern era, but that can't take away what came before.
