Great Job. My position changed at work and now I have to write estimates. I always said estimators are gods. You made understanding the program easy. Thanks for posting the video
I had used the older version of Xactimate back in 2012, but have found this latest version exceptionally great. The tutorial was also very intuitive. The host was awesome and extremely knowledgeable. GREAT piece!
Thank you so much for this video. I feel like I am ready to purchase my subscription and create my first ever supplement report. Lots of years in the industry and have never had to work on insurance claims. thank you so much!
Great Job. You have the heart of a teacher and I am happy to subscribe. I currently work as a secretary, but am thinking of changing careers to become a Desk Adjuster (because I do not want to go out into the field and climb roofs). Your video is very useful because I use it to determine whether or not I feel that this is something I would be comfortable doing. And it is!!!
First time I've watched it one of your videos. Only have one computer so I took notes. Ready and not intimidated to get into Xactimate. Explanations were easily understood. I thought it was great.
Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed the video Karla! Let me know if you have any questions - you may always feel free to reach out at alena@xm8mastery.com
That was fantastic tutorial training. I am just watching tuturials since i dont have idea about xactimate program but I am really interestred to learn though i dont have training on sketching or engineering. This video encourages me to learn this applicatipon. Thanks
I have used Xactimate for insurance and property management companies. I also have used XactRemodel with a couple of different remodeling companies. I am "retired" but still do a few drawings and design work and some estimating. I checked out your videos because someone came to me who was looking for a good estimating program. I recommended XactRemodel and I was looking for some training videos to get them started. I do appreciate your presentation because you go through on a straight line to get them started. When I started with Xactamate they took us through most of the different ways to use the program all at once, THAT was so confusing that we had to almost get rid of all that was said and just find a way to get an estimate done. We didn't realize that there is about 4 -5 ( maybe more) ways to do an estimate, so that wasn't clear when first introduced us to the program, the other guy from our company just gave up and left me to figure it out.
I'm glad you're finding my training helpful! Sounds like you've been through the wringer a bit on your journey to learn the software - I feel for you as I had to basically figure it out on my own as I went along in the beginning as well. That's also why I started my training company as I witness quite a bit of poor training out there in the industry. Thanks for the feedback - I appreciate you!

An excellent tutorial for either first timer or refresher. Very thorough and kept simple. I'm headed to the next one. Keep up the great work. Very appreciative!
Excellent video, I'm trying to learn Xactimate. I will watch this video again, along with other videos you've created. I don't understand the thumbs down on this.

Thanks for the video. I'm an aspiring p&c adjuster (getting my license in a week) and very new to the xactimate program. You've done a great job of taking the anxiety out of learning a new complicated program. I know that this video serves as an intro into the estimating process. While there's a lot to this iceberg, your video gave me the confidence to take it on with confidence, efficiently and effectively. Since I'm pretty computer savvy with a good background in Microsoft Office Suite, the software seems to be pretty intuitive and easy to learn. Anyway, thanks again for the great work and I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Good job in finding your answers and being confident with the program. Should you desire to take your estimating to the next level we have Xactimate Certification Courses to acquire levels 1-3 taught by our Certified Xactimate Trainer. Let us know how we can help you in the future.😊

Hi! Would you recommend taking the online classes even after learning from videos like these on youtube? Im new to the industry and wanted to know if i really needed to @@brendabrown1845

This was actually much better than the x1 class u took 🤣 thank you so much I'm going to look at all of your videos I'm a new independent adjuster trying to get my feet wet with Property
Thank you so much for explaining everything so simpily, i have been trying to learn x1 for over a month and this video is the only one that has helped at all!
Excellent, very detailed info. Well presented and easy to understand for the most part. My only suggestion pertains to people who are new to the restoration industry: when you talk about abbreviations such as D&R, R&R, TPA, etc, it would be helpful if you told us what these abbreviations mean.
I have no experience with the house vocabulary but the technical stuff was very easy to understand. I worry like how would I know to use drywall or special paint coats ?! Or like what you said about the fan and then it might become electric
I have a question for being an IA in Florida. I do have another job that takes me away from Florida for 2 weeks then I'm back in Florida for 2 weeks. Can an IA take jobs for 2 weeks at a time or when I'm in Florida. That would be me working independent. Thanks for the Video it was helpful.

Thank you for all your professional advice. When I hit the Cat key, the drop down list doesn't show up, just a box that says P.L. Cat. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks in advance !
I would recommend saving and closing the project and going back in again to see if the drop-down appears. If you still have issues you can contact Verisk to look into the issues. Good luck!
Thanks for the tutorial... I have a 'how to' question. I need to change the status from COMPLETE to IN PROGRESS. And there is LOCK icon on the file I need to make the changes on... can you help?
Hey Sandra! If you see a lock on the project in the Dashboard it means that it's either checked out to the Desktop or Mobile version or it's residing in the cloud. You'll need to find where the estimate has been checked out to in order to open it and make edits.
I have a question on adding windows to a peaked or sloped wall. I have a wall that is peaked and needs 2 trapezoid windows 1 on either side of the peak about 10in from the top. Any tips, might be a good video even the xactimate help chat couldn't figure it out. Thanks
I would recommend going to the Elevation View by typing the #2 on your keyboard and moving the window around and resizing it that way. Keep an eye on your properties of the window when doing this but I think that may solve for what you're trying to accomplish on the Sketch.
Thank you. This really helped me to understand what I need to do with Xactimate. I'm a first time IA. I haven't started yet still doing my training. I will be looking at more of your pages to help me in my training. Thank you so much.
I wasn't able to find the beginners tutorial for contractors. I'm a homeowner creating an estimate for a water leak. I've been in construction for 30 years and work in BIM using Revit. In the Activity (default) do you click on the use pricelist defaults for current pricing? I noticed if this is not clicked the pricing can be less than shown on the actual price list for Roofing.
@estimatemastery Thank you for posting absolute beginners videos. It is my goal to learn as much about Xactimate that I can but I’m curious once we learn and get certified with Level 1 is it enough to have just level 1 to land a job helping out busy contractors that are out in the field while someone such as myself would be working from home for them helping crank out estimates all day long and if so - in your opinion what would you say an average pay range could be for us once we have level 1 cert.? Thank you
I am so gals these are helpful! Level 1 Cert is not needing, in my option. I would recommend shadowing a roofing contractor group that way you have better knowledge on how a roof is stripped down and then put back together. Level 1 is only useful only after you know how to right really good estimates. As for pay scale it depends on what area of the country you are in and whether or not you want to work off of a pay scale or salary based.
I'm a regular user of Xactimate 28. We are contractors receiving claims from insurance companies/insurance adjusters. I need to know whereabout I go to find the new claims being sent by the insurance. Please help.. Thank you This is my first time on X1 and kinda lost. Have tried to open a new claim, but I just can't get the window you show above. I get a different kind of window which is not right. Lise
great video. I encountered a problem and not sure how to solve it. If i have two rooms - if i move one, the other moves as well, can i move one room(with the little hand/pan tool )at a time while both rooms are on the screen..? thanks
thanks, I was trying to move the entire room - using the Pan/hand and just grabbing the room anywhere. When I use the proper handle I was able to the room move only. thanks @@EstimateMastery
Excellent!! I have subscribed. Just a comment about what happened to me ( I'm not Mr. IT...) and took me a while to figure out, if your screen goes blurry, go to settings on the right lower corner and change from HD to 720 p resolution and the video will get crystal clear.
does Xactimate have a parameter setting for construction in a remote mountain location? my loss was at an elevation of 7200' and access by a 4.5 mile private steep gravel private road. Travel time to the nearest city was 45 minutes.
Hey Paul! you would need to calculate your time to the jobsite in your line items. Xactimate also does not review elevations so if anything is required per elevation you would need to factor this into your line items as well. For example if ice and water shield is required you would need to add this into your estimates.
I would NOT recommend upgrading to X1 at this time as there are too many frustrating glitches and force closes happening at this time. There are some users that are being required to use X1, so that's why I came out with this video to help any beginners struggling to learn the new version. I'll definitely release a video when X1 stops crashing and some of the more irritating glitches are fixed!
You mentioned subtabs at the very end but I don't think you explained when & how to use them ... although I've seen them on some estimates I've been reviewing. Can you explain or give me link to where I can learn more? Thanks
I want to do this foe roofing only. I don't not need the rooms. I am aldo using Eagleview for the roofing estimates. Ive got one client already and I am in need for some help
I have an All Lines Adjuster and P&C license. I need to get certified in Xactimate. Advice requested please on program to purchase please and where to take exam. Thank you
I would suggest either a self study course or and in person course. We offer them on our website if you are interested. You purchase the test directly from otc.xactware.com. Thanks for watching!
This was helpful as this software isn't very "user friendly". I am brand new at this and just got this software and I am trying to learn it. Is there set up that should be done at the very beginning "out of the box?". If so, how/where? Also mine doesn't have the plus sign to start a new project? I am on X1 Online version. Thank you!
I'm glad you found this video helpful Darla! There are a couple of things you want to make sure to do - add yourself as the Claim Rep/Estimator and get your estimate branded correctly with a company header and opening statement. As for the difference in versions, I use the Desktop version of X1. The online version is still in the version 28 format, not X1, so it will look different than my screen in this video. You should be able to go to the main Projects tab in the online version and the find Add of to the right in that tab to add a new project. I wish you good luck on your journey to learning Xactimate!
As a beginner to xactimate, I found your video to be precise and accurate training for us newbies. Thanks

Hey Sheri! For high end or specialty items its best to use a bid item and make note of it in the bid.
I'm a regular user of Xactimate 28. We are contractors receiving claims from insurance companies/insurance adjusters. I need to know whereabout I go to find the new claims being sent by the insurance. Please help.. Thank you
This is my first time on X1 and kinda lost.
Have tried to open a new claim, but I just can't get the window you show above. I get a different kind of window which is not right.

great video. I encountered a problem and not sure how to solve it.
If i have two rooms - if i move one, the other moves as well, can i move one room(with the little hand/pan tool )at a time while both rooms are on the screen..? thanks
The two rooms are connected, you would have to disconnect it in order to move it.
thanks, I was trying to move the entire room - using the Pan/hand and just grabbing the room anywhere.
Awesome! 😊
This was great. Thank you. My first adventure into learning this program and this took all the fear away! :)
Oh yay! I'm so glad you found it helpful! 😊
She is very good and a great teacher
Thanks Trevor!!
I’m also pretty new. Is there a Xactimate practice template I am supposed to download and where can I find
Email info@estimatemastery.com and ask for the Level 1 Certification Prep Doc and they will get that to you!
For some reason i am unable to delete unwanted photos. The option isn't coming up to select for deleting. Any ideas/clues to why?
I haven't seen that before - I would recommend getting with online chat support at eservice.xactimate.com
Thanks for the basics. I'm on to your next video. ;)
I love it! I hope you find it helpful.
does Xactimate have a parameter setting for construction in a remote mountain location? my loss was at an elevation of 7200' and access by a 4.5 mile private steep gravel private road.
Excellent! Simple and straight-forward. Thank you!
Glad you liked it! 😊
I use remote 28 and have used your training. Can you share why to and why not to upgrade to X1
Excellent Video, having in account the details is amazing for a newbies adjusters, Thanks
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Do you offer Estimate Writing Services For Insurance Paid Roof Replacement Projects
Hi. Do you have a video that shows how to find the estimate when I collaborate it from XactAnalysis?
You mentioned subtabs at the very end but I don't think you explained when & how to use them ... although I've seen them on some estimates I've been reviewing. Can you explain or give me link to where I can learn more? Thanks
Fantastic! I will check back often! Thank you so much for the help.
You're very welcome!
I want to do this foe roofing only. I don't not need the rooms. I am aldo using Eagleview for the roofing estimates. Ive got one client already and I am in need for some help
We have programs that may be able to help, are you an adjuster or contractor?
I have an All Lines Adjuster and P&C license. I need to get certified in Xactimate. Advice requested please on program to purchase please and where to take exam. Thank you
I would suggest either a self study course or and in person course. We offer them on our website if you are interested. You purchase the test directly from otc.xactware.com. Thanks for watching!
Are they still using the same version before I begin looking at this video?
