@@EstimateMastery Thanks, currently doing the level 3 test and man it’s a pain in the butt with that curved staircase! By any chance do you know a simpler way around it?
I am currently working on getting certified for the sole purpose of being promoted but as an adjuster myself many insurance companies do not require you to be certified and claims are not reassigned to adjusters to are when negotiating with a contractor. Escalations go to a manager who shoots it back to the sams adjuster for additional review. Although I do see this certification being helpful I personally see the disconnect in understanding the concepts of general construction to comprehend what is warranted inorder to justify certain repairs versus actually being able to navigate the software and knowing what line items to use.
I wouldn't suggest any contractor asking an adjuster to find someone in their organization who is certified, as it would come off as being arrogant. If the adjuster is assigned that claim, they will work it and try hard enough to get along with contractors. Insurance companies are not asking adjusters not to pay claims; it's the opposite. We aren't paid if a claim isn't settled. The more a claim is, the higher the fee schedule. We want more line items, but they do need to be justified as the insurance carrier can (by law) only pay what they actually owe.
Hey Jude. Thanks for your response! I can see how it might come off as arrogant, but the truth is that not all adjusters are in the mind set to work with you to pay for the work that was done, and some truly aren't educated in Xactimate, so the chances of getting the supplement paid is higher if you're speaking with someone who is on the same experience/education level as you if you're certified.
How does a person get started in insurance adjusting, writing up estimates, if not working directly with a contractor. I have had a few people suggest that I get into this, and tell me I would be good at it. I guess what I really mean is how does a person get experience writing up the estimates?
once I purchase the exam that is where I can practice the sketch part of the exam? Am I given a sketch done by them to complete all my items, sf, lf, etc.? Thank you!
No, I don't have one on the certification class. I just videos on how to write. We do offer a Level 1 and 2 Certification class though, if you'd be interested in that? Here is the link to check that out: estimatemastery.com/live-trainings/
but where do you get the logo to add to your email signature? I just finished the test, and got a certificate, but not seeing where the logo/ certification # is
What if you're not a contractor but are real good with computer applications? I'd like to actually prepare the estimates for the contractors. Is that a possibility being certified?
Yes, that is something that is a possibility. You want to make sure you have a good understanding of construction materials. Getting cert is definitely a resume enhancer. But, if you don't know const. materials and what needs to go into the estimate. Cert. isn't much help.
Hi I’m looking for someone to write up scopes of work for housing projects I have. Is that something you could do virtually if I got you good pictures and videos of house renovations I have?
Passed level 1 yesterday and just passed level 2 today thanks to you!
That's great! Way to go!

Can you start the test and take a break or once started it has to be completed in a certain time frame?
You have a year to take the test after purchasing and once it starts you have 180 minutes to finish it.
