Thank you so much Sheona, I really really enjoyed watching you talk about your favourite five patterns in stretch fabrics. I really really love ❤️ the one with the flowers etc, it’s so feminine and stunning too. Please stay safe and well too. xxxx Mags
I have stayed away from sewing with knit fabrics and am just about to have a go now I have a serger. Your video was really helpful with suggestion of the best pattern to start with. Many thanks
Oh my gosh! Your pattern matching on the first top is incredible. I'm learning to sew & pattern matching like yours is my ultimate goal. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE, this video. Thank you for posting this video.
Oh how I wish I’d seen this video a month ago! I’ve recently returned to sewing and what a joy it is! I’ve never sewn with stretch fabrics before so inspired by lots of vlogs including yours decided to give it a go. I chose the Lark tee, all was well until I did the neck line which despite my best efforts did stretch a little. Anyway it didn’t turn out too badly and overall I was pleased with the result. I love your channel and really informative videos. It’s also great to see someone who is a similar shape to me and doesn’t shame me by saying “I made this in a size 10” Keep up the good work!!!
Love the video Sheona, my go to top is the Deer & Doe Plantain. I have made several with slightly different necklines. I would also love to see more videos like this, even though I don't wear dresses I could always turn them into tops. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Great vlog as usual - you have such an easy way with talking about fabrics and patterns. Would love one on jersey/knit dresses for autumn/winter - to wear with tights/leggings and boots 👢
Love all your tops. I have made so so many Coco’s, it’s a great pattern. I also love the Simple Sew Shannon top and the Grainline Hemlock for a loose-fitting boxy style top.
Love them all, thanks! A jersey dress video would be great, please. I could do with a few more frocks and it would be so helpful to have the patterns recommended. You're great at what you do.
Found your vid by accident, loved it, useful tips to decide on which pattern to choose. Also found your shop is not that far from me so I’ll definitely be visiting soon.
Yes please to a jersey dress video! I would add to the list the Grainline Studios Lark tee because of the number of variations in neckline, and sleeves. I've got quite a few in my collection!
Love the all tops thankyou for showing us. I’ve not sewn for about 25 years and wanting to get back into it. I need some simple tops like these, but being big busted also I prefer v neck tops, but not to show much of anything, Any advice appreciated please x
Very lovely video! I did the Frankie recently all in one fabric and it doesn't look so casual again. Because I've a full bust, I find raglan patterns easier then bust adjustments.
This was really interesting, I think we have a similar shape. I’m going to try the Agnes, and Frankie. This was my first jersey make, and I watched you video to show me how to sew jersey with a regular machine. I’ve got myself an overlocker now soo should be well away. Well I would show you but can’t work out how to add a picture! It’s new look 6871. I used a sea salt cotton jersey, didn’t use interfacing as it has a double layer yoke anyway, and lengthened it by 3inches so it’s quite tunic-ish.
Thanks for all the info. My go to top is the Sewaholic Renfrew. ( Just finished my 9th) and have done all the variations. Round , V neck and cowl , different sleeves , with and without bottom band. I have made one Agnes and it was dreadful on me for all the reasons you mentioned. - I will maybe revisit and alter neckline and shoulder. Many thanks again, I enjoy all your Vlogs.
I would love to see your fave winter dresses as I've been thinking of making a few but not sure what patterns to choose from since there sooooo many lol
Great video Sheona. Lovely top of the tops. Love the fabric on your Agnes top. I’ve never made an Agnes only because I feel it maybe too fitted for my shape, but one day I’ll give it ago. The fabric you used has really inspired me. My fav jersey is the Gable Top by Jennifer Lauren as I just love a boat neckline. I have made a few cocos but find the sleeves always twist to the front. Have you noticed that? Prob my rubbish cutting out of fabric. Anyhoo thanks as always for sharing x😻
I’m a bit late to the “Top tops party” but I loved your reviews of all the patterns! So helpful! I’ve made loads of coco tops but wanted something more fitted so think I will defo go for the Agnes next! Thanks! xx
Hi. Anna-Marie here. All the tops were great. The last 2 i think fit you the best. My favorite pattern for a knit top was a old favorite knit top that I took apart, ironed flat and re-cut on new knit fabric. the fit was prefect and I didn't spend money on a pattern that might not work out right.
Great review of the patterns!! SOI Molly is my ultimate go to (I think I’m up to 11 of them! Although I do sometimes change it up and do short sleeves or do a v-neck hack so they’re not all the same. Lol) Another tee I really like is the Itch to Stitch Idyllwild!
Lovely tops Sheona and especially love the Molly top. I’ve made the Agnes twice and the fit really depended on the knit fabric as came up very snug in cotton jersey. Great video and fun to watch. Really enjoy your videos. 😁😁
I’m so glad I found you! Unfortunately when I try the links for the patterns, I get the message “page not found”. I’m in the US so maybe that’s why…..?
Please (!) do a video on your Ponte / dress tunic wardrobe. We'll soon all be in our thick winter tights so the timing would be perfect! Re Deer and Doe "Plaintain" which is a free t-shirt... It is looser in body, almost "A" shaped and has a deep-ish scooped neckline that would probably look brilliant on you. I had to raise and narrow the neckline. :-) I have a wear it/wash it/wear it again workhorse top made from that pattern, in the dandelion puff Art Gallery material. It has faded a bit from all the wear and washing but is still going strong. I tried it in some drapey viscose knit and it was almost like it needed more ... more ... support (?) from the fabric. It just pulled itself out of shape down the middle and drooped a bit.
Great vlog. I have most of those patterns but have only made the Frankie so far! Would love you to do one on thicker knit dresses. I made a Ponte Dress last year but felt the Ponte was too thin. Do they come in different weights and how do you know when buying online how heavy or light it’s going to be?
Thank you and yes they do come in different weights. Sometimes the actual weight will be lists in grams per sq metre gsm which will give you a good idea but if that’s not mentioned I’d look at the descriptions, some places are more helpful - we always say if it’s medium or heavy weight and give suggestions on what it can be used for. Otherwise ask for a swatch
Fab video!! I just bought the maritime top and I remembered I never understand the Oliver and s patterns. The a0 section is at the end of the file so how do you send it to net printer? Anyway, totally inspired and now I plan on having a weekend of making jersey tops!!
I've been eyeing up the Molly top for awhile now, this vlog confirms that I MUST make it. Just wondering who won the fabric and sewing pattern giveaway you sponsored on Sewn? Never saw the follow up on that. Thanks
I have the problem of being full-busted and the front neck seems too low or too short. Also how do you know if you have narrow shoulders? I've also had the problem of the sleeve cap falling off my shoulder instead of sitting on top.
I’ve just sewed the Virginia leggings. Two leg pieces ( in total, not each leg) and a waistband. My husband thinks its a great ploy for wearing pjs in public
Maybe I’m doing something wrong. I tried the links and they were all broken saying “oops”. I was so hoping for links to these patterns. They are just what I have been looking for. Please help.
Many thanks
This is my favorite video. I've watched it numerous times.
Yes would love you to do a blog on easy makes for dresses/tunics. Please also mention what to look out for when buying ponte/ knits on line,.
Will do!
Oh my gosh! Your pattern matching on the first top is incredible. I'm learning to sew & pattern matching like yours is my ultimate goal. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE, this video. Thank you for posting this video.

Well done on your first Lark - make another and I’m sure it’ll be even better! So pleased you like the vlogs
Love the video Sheona, my go to top is the Deer & Doe Plantain. I have made several with slightly different necklines. I would also love to see more videos like this, even though I don't wear dresses I could always turn them into tops. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Thanks! I’ll do more comparison videos
They all look lovely on you. The fabrics you chose are lovely too.
Thank you so much!
Love the video and how you describe the differences. I would love a dress video! You always make me smile.
Well thank you, that comment made me smile 😊
Great video! I loved all the tops! Yes, do a dress one too. I like dresses that can go with leggings or tights in the Fall!
Thank you, I will do a dress one soon!
Hi Sheona another great vlog 👏👏
Thanks so much Jilly
You have such beautiful fabrics for your favorite tops.
Thank you!
I've just started sewing. Thank you for your videos! so helpful
Good idea for vlog, top 5's (tops, dresses, skirts, trousers) etc. Thanks as always very informative and well presented.
Thank you Heather, I’m pleased they’re helpful!
This was great, thank you! I’m definitely interested in hearing about your favorite ponte/ thicker knit dresses for fall.
Thank you!
instaBlaster.
Wonderful makes and you look beautiful in them.
Thank you so much x
Great vlog as usual - you have such an easy way with talking about fabrics and patterns. Would love one on jersey/knit dresses for autumn/winter - to wear with tights/leggings and boots 👢
Thanks Katie!
Love all your tops. I have made so so many Coco’s, it’s a great pattern. I also love the Simple Sew Shannon top and the Grainline Hemlock for a loose-fitting boxy style top.
Thank you and thanks for the great suggestions!
Lovely video, great choices. All good wardrobe staples. I love the Coco version with the funnel neck and cuffs. Would love another on jersey dresses.😊
Thank and will do!
Super video! I loved seeing these patterns side by side in comparison. I need to check out Liesl & Co patterns. Thank you!
So glad it was helpful
Love them all, thanks! A jersey dress video would be great, please. I could do with a few more frocks and it would be so helpful to have the patterns recommended. You're great at what you do.
Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you
Found your vid by accident, loved it, useful tips to decide on which pattern to choose. Also found your shop is not that far from me so I’ll definitely be visiting soon.
Yay glad you found us and like the vlogs, thank you!
Yes please to a jersey dress video! I would add to the list the Grainline Studios Lark tee because of the number of variations in neckline, and sleeves. I've got quite a few in my collection!
I’ve still never made a lark tee - I really must!!
Love the all tops thankyou for showing us.
I’ve not sewn for about 25 years and wanting to get back into it. I need some simple tops like these, but being big busted also I prefer v neck tops, but not to show much of anything, Any advice appreciated please x
Great video, really useful to see the different fits. I've made a few Grainline Lark tees and like the scoop neck version best. X
Thank you, I must try the Lark!
Brilliant video. Really useful as I'm just starting out on the whole jersey thing. Would love to see a video on jersey etc. dresses.
Fab, will do! I have some jersey sewing tips on another vlog too ❤️
Very lovely video! I did the Frankie recently all in one fabric and it doesn't look so casual again. Because I've a full bust, I find raglan patterns easier then bust adjustments.
Great idea about all one colour, I think I’ll make another soon!
This was really interesting, I think we have a similar shape. I’m going to try the Agnes, and Frankie.

Oh wow! So need the Liesl pattern. I’ve started an Agnes and am scared to do the neck band!!
You mastered it!
I must try the Renfrew!
Yes please to dresses.Brilliant vlog really helpful.Could you ,perhaps,do a tutorial on sewing the different necklines.
Necklines is a good idea, I’ll have a think!
I would love to see your fave winter dresses as I've been thinking of making a few but not sure what patterns to choose from since there sooooo many lol
Will see what I can come up with!
Great video Sheona. Lovely top of the tops. Love the fabric on your Agnes top. I’ve never made an Agnes only because I feel it maybe too fitted for my shape, but one day I’ll give it ago. Agnes you should definitely make an Agnes! I haven’t made the Gable top but will look out for that!

Lovely tops Sheona and especially love the Molly top. I’ve made the Agnes twice and the fit really depended on the knit fabric as came up very snug in cotton jersey. Great video and fun to watch. Really enjoy your videos. 😁😁
Thanks Ruth, and yes I agree the fabric makes a huge difference
I’m so glad I found you! Unfortunately when I try the links for the patterns, I get the message “page not found”. I’m in the US so maybe that’s why…..?
It could be so nice,to see you doing your sewing protects, so we could learn from it!......
Blinking love a good jersey top. Great vid, frankie is my fave x
Me too! And thank you!
Great choices Shiona 👌. I would add the Ebony Tee by Closet Case and the Briar by Megan Nielsen 👍💞😘
Thanks Sally, both on my list!
Please (!) do a video on your Ponte / dress tunic wardrobe. We'll soon all be in our thick winter tights so the timing would be perfect!

Another one to add to the list! Heard lots about the Plantain!
All very cute! 👍👍
Yes please to Jersey dresses. Also what type of fabric did you use for Frankie please? Is it cotton jersey?.
Thank you!
Yes cotton jerseys 😁
Just what I needed, thank you 💕
They all look good on you. As far as the baseball shirt, they are for team colors, so absoutely color block them.
Totally, and mine is Sewisfaction team colours so love wearing it 😂
Great vlog. I have most of those patterns but have only made the Frankie so far! Would love you to do one on thicker knit dresses. I made a Ponte Dress last year but felt the Ponte was too thin. All lovely tops - but I especially like the Molly top on you! The sleeves are a bit different & stylish.
This video is so helpful!! I have a question about the maritime top. Did you make the size that fit your bust measurement or larger? Thank you!!
Fab video!! I just bought the maritime top and I remembered I never understand the Oliver and s patterns. The a0 section is at the end of the file so how do you send it to net printer? Anyway, totally inspired and now I plan on having a weekend of making jersey tops!!
Hope your weekend of sewing went well. I’m not sure how they layout their pdf but check with Netprinter, they’re always really helpful
I've been eyeing up the Molly top for awhile now, this vlog confirms that I MUST make it.
Just wondering who won the fabric and sewing pattern giveaway you sponsored on Sewn? Never saw the follow up on that. Thanks
The Molly is a great pattern! I can’t remember the ladies name but Rosa did announce it and the prize was sent out x
I may try to sew jerseys! Where can I find the patterns
what are the reference for the 1st tee-shirt i can’t get it sorry ... i like it a lot.... thank you
It is the Liesl & Co Maritime Tee, it’s linked in the info under the video. So glad you like it!
👍
Do you have a pattern with a turtle neck for winter
Yes! The Coco has a funnel neck option and the Nina Lee Southbank also has a cosy neck option. Plus the new Tilly pattern Nora has a polo neck option
Maybe I’m doing something wrong. I tried the links and they were all broken saying “oops”. I was so hoping for links to these patterns. They are just what I have been looking for. Please help.
Some of the links no longer work?
