Hello and welcome to my channel Sew Little Time where I share all of my sewing makes, charity shop upcycles, knitting, crochet and craft projects. I also include a little of my daily life.
Today I am making the Tilly and the Buttons Coco Top using gifted fabric from Felicity Fabrics. I have timed myself making this top, to show how much of a quick and easy make this pattern is. It is suitable for beginner sewists who are especially new to sewing with knit fabric.
This challenge has been done in collaboration with Gemma from @thedalythread on Instagram through our blogging network via Felicity Fabrics.

Great to see your finished top ❤ love the fabric. The coco is one of my favourites xx
Thanks Becky, I've even wearing it loads since making it 😁 xx
I really enjoyed this Karen, thanks ❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😀 xx
It's a beautiful make, Karen! It paired so well with the dungarees. And the white one with the floral dungaree too, I love both the combinations.
Thank you very much. I love a Coco top, they go with so many outfits xx
Cute coco Karen.
Thanks Claire! Xx
Lovely fabric and well sewn ❤
Thank you very much Susan, I'm really happy to have another Coco. My preference would have been to overlook most of it, so I really must get those blades changed this week! Xx
Gday lovely. This was great fun 😀Your Coco looks great worn with your overalls 😍Thanku 'sew' much for sharing, happy Monday, enjoy your week 🪡✂🧵🤗XX
Aww thanks so much Ana, glad you enjoyed it. I'm wearing this outfit today 😁. Have a great week too 😄 xx
It looks perfect with the lilac dungarees! 😊
Thank you 😊 xx

Looks lovely, Karen 💜. I realise that the quick sew was just a bit of fun 😅. I’ve yet to make a Coco but I do have the pattern so no excuse 😊
Thanks Elaine ☺️, yeah I wouldn't usually rush through a make or care howling it took me lol, but the Coco is fairly quick anyway if you wanted to make something during an afternoon or evening over a few hours. It's a fab pattern, it's had a lot of use for myself, friends and family 😀 xx
I dont have an overlicker Karen, I leave the seams as they are. I've been using maraflex thread lately, so really quick to make jersey items. Great tip with the stay tape too. I havent tried a coco and yours is lovely, so i might give it a go. Thanks for the content 😊😊
Hi Annette, yes definitely give the Coco a go, I adore this pattern and if you wanted to make it without the curved waist, you can just straighten that section out. I used to do the same before I had an overlocker, but I agree maraflex thread is definitely the way to go....I need to get some I think 😀 xx
I enjoyed this. What is the tape you used to stabilize the neck called? Also, I notice that you sew over your pins. Don't you worry about breaking the needle?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. It's Prym seam tape.
Here's a link for some from Amazon... www.amazon.co.uk/Prym-Seam-Tape-interfacing-White/dp/B0052DI35E/ref=asc_df_B0052DI35E/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=256187788999&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13467435715941849646&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006867&hvtargid=pla-421728739589&psc=1
I know I'm very naughty for sewing over the pins, as yes I have broken needles in the past. Sometimes I'm better at taking the pins out than other times, but I should really get into the habit of doing it all the time xx
Nice 🙂
Thank you :)
rushing not for me. Eliminates a lot of us
Hi, no I understand it's not for everyone. It was just to show that a quick make is possible and it was just a bit of a fun challenge. I didn't have to make it within the hour, that was just my personal side of the challenge....I wanted to see if I could do it in that time. But overall, the context was to just show that some makes are a quick sew if you wanted to make something within a smaller timescale.
I also wanted to show that sewing with jersey isn't scary for beginners and thought this top would be a perfect starting point for those that wanted to give it a go. I will be doing a proper tutorial for this make as per the mention in the video about that.
I have a lot of makes pending which are far more time consuming and I don't usually rush my sewing. I hope that clarifies things x
More like a challenge not a race 🙂
