Just finished mine, and only because I watched your video! Thanks Angel! 2006 4.4 Jag motor, Range Rover HSE. @FixItAngel It's a bear to release and gently get the fuel pump assembly out when it's full of gas, and installing the replacement for both the left and the right units by using a flashlight (don't turn it on or off - you might explode) and by just feeling where the unit is supposed to be placed with your hands and fingers when installing it - because both units will be held securely in place with the spring loaded plastic top part that fits in the top notch/detent that's formed into the top-inside part of the tank. I know that sounds complicated - but once you see it you'll figure it out, and this video helped a lot. Patience, patience.
I replaced the fuel filter unit at the top too, that was much easier. I used oem parts by Continental from Kensington Motor Sport's mechanics in Las Vegas, a Land Rover independent shop. Brandon and Bill.
With 144k miles it needed to be done, and I replaced the fuel pump relay in the rear fuse box.
I would first check fuse #6 and the fuel pump relay in the rear fuse box (2006) before replacing the pump assembly, just to be sure it's not just a relay. It absolutely must be the right relay part number by Land Rover or Jag - 40amp. I tried a generic and it didn't work.

Do you by any chance have the part number of the Fuel filter or a photo? I have the same 2006 4.4 HSE and they are two kinds, I don't know which one (WGC500102 or WGC500150)

Land Rover came up with the idea of a split tank so basically need two pumps instead of one. Nice one Land Rover 😂
To prevent all that mess keep your tank full a the time. Or when hits the 1/2 full the tank. Gasoline cool down all the parts, when you see connectors you understand. Greatt job!!!!
A very nice video! I own a Porsche Cayenne 958 and replaced a fuel pump, a fuel pressure regulator, and a fuel filter at the same time. Compared to Cayenne, this has a simpler fuel system. However, I really like your creative way to resolve the problems. That's why I like your video since you show what kinds of real problems DIYers face in the middle of repairs. It's all about the experience. Thanks!

What a legend. I have this exact car but it's stuck in a parking lot because the fuel pump is gone. Usually when you drive the car, it's really jerky, engine dies sometimes, especially when it's hot. Brought out the fuel pump and hooked it directly to 12 volts but no power in the pump, meaning the pump is dead. I'll tow the car to my house with my LX470 and i'll follow your video. Thanks man!

I have gotten into so many arguments with imaginary Land Rover engineers over the years.
For anyone having this issue try tapping the pump before attempting to replace sometimes it will work and get you out of trouble

Anyone watching, the black cable that he ends up shorting at the end, it’s the earth cable. If you get a new filter it has the other half of the cable and black connector.
Re-wiring the plug is unnecessary.
You could short the black earth wire shown @12:23 if you’re not replacing the filter.

Jeremy Anthony There is technically only one fuel pump. Imagine the tank split sort of into two sides. This car is RWD so the driveshaft has to go below the tank. One side of the tank has the fuel pump that sends fuel to engine. The other is the sending unit and fuel gauge. The sending unit will send fuel to the other side of the tank where the fuel pump is. Then the fuel pump will send to the engine. Im not sure of this car even has a serviceable fuel filter. Most modern cars dont. They just use a strainer on the bottom of the fuel pump.

How come that connector burnt but did not ignite the fuel?
With petrol it’s the Vapour that ignited not the liquid of the circuit burnt out submerged in petrol it wouldn’t ignite.

You didn’t check fuse or relay to confirm it was the fuel pump. You just confirmed engine wasn’t getting fuel.
Not the correct electrical connector to be submerged in fuel.
Rapping the wire around connector is also not a recommended procedure. Especially in fuel tank.

I have a no crank issue to diagnose on a 2003 R-R HSE. If the issue is the fuel pump, I may talk the owner into taking it to a shop where the pump wound replaced a lot quicker than what I could do.

@@sebastianbravo8234 - Nope you just don't know what your working with - a fuel pump is good for 100'000 hours or km's if you cant afford to maintain it at a dealer or don't have the technical knowledge to do a basic fuel pump replacement perhaps buy something cheap within your limited skill set.
