Back in the 70's I use to sleep in my car with my board right on that cliff. My neighbor was Billy from New Zealand and we were always the first in the water.
Beautiful.....went there once upon a time. Smooth as glass. Don't have the coconuts anymore. Going to Waikiki soon.
Man I miss this!! I grew up in Hawaii and surfed all these spots growing up. Although I'm very thankful I got to do it all all getting old really sucks and not living near the ocean sucks worse because if I did I could still be doing this on some level. At least in my day it wasn't even half as crowded as it is now. I remember when 12 guys in the water was a crowd. That was the early 70s.
We had it Good, now you go for a Surf someone steals your Car for a Bank Job, Late Surfs to dangerous, a Meth Freak Knifes you while your trying to get outta your Zipperless Steamer!
Get back to the Coast and paddle out, You need it.

Right, I'm old now and my surfing days may behind me.
The soul still longs but the body is weak.
I don't know if I would like the crowds. My best memories were 5 , maybe 10 friends would enjoy an epic day that lives until today.
I know I'm old but how can 50 people compete for a few waves. Maybe you just have more friends.
Never too late to get back in the water. I grew up on the Gold Coast, Australia, and surfed pretty much every day, until I moved overseas and then didn't surf for about 20 years (life got in the way). I got back into it when aged 45. I'm 55 now, still riding a short board and still getting great waves.
I hear ya. I was born and grew up in Waimanalo and Kailua. That was 60s and 70s. Sailed back in 85 and 86, boy big changes! Now going in 2019 and first time flying there from mainland. Totally like a tourist. Oh well, get to show the grandkids around the island. For sure hit Makapuu and southside for some ankle slappers and probably Sandys and Haleiwa. Kids never surfed so I get to learn them. My body is all stove in from lifetime of high adventure so we'll see how it goes. Even though going on jet plane I'm stoked to go. Def take in some ki ho'alu.
It's very rare I get envious .... but watching some of these guys doing that all day is a test for me. Thanks for posting - awesome video.
