My daddy came from Cherokee and is a Cherokee. I remember going to visit my grandparents and not wanting to leave. It has changed over the years and I'm not sure my grandpa would approve. But Cherokee is (to me) the most beautiful place in the United States.
I grew up next to Cherokee ! I’m alittle sad when I go now it’s not the same the casino almost ruin it I loved it when it was all about the Cherokee heritage ! My grandma was half Cherokee ❤️
@@steveyates1136 yes I have high cheekbones but no check I work for my living ! I’m not sure you could research it but I believe you have to be a third to get benefits 😊
I remember my childhood friend's grandmother taking us here in the fall. She loved playing at the casino and would win weekend stays and we'd go! Absolutely loved it! Had an old timer show us how to fly fish and use a fly rod for the first time in cherokee. We climbed to the top of mingo falls too and were waving at people down at the bridge haha! Good times for sure. I'd love to go back with my kids now that I'm older.
You can also visit Shaconage in the arts and crafts community in Gatlingburg about 30 minutes away if you can drive through mountains like a NASCAR racer, for pottery, herbal remedies, and jewelry.
I live here in Cherokee and I want to reach out to the people who may be wanting to visit here or stay. PLEASE do not stay at a Airbnb. There has been cases of cameras that have been spying on people in the last couple of years. It’s not out to the public because they don’t want to scare their tourist friends away. By all means please stay at a motel or hotel IF you can. I highly recommend it. I want you to enjoy the place I live but please think about it. Stay safe.
@@OnViewCation You’re very welcome. Yes the times we live in now are very sad it’s sickens me to think about how people can be so sick like that. God bless and stay safe ❤️
There are very nice hotels along a creek (sorry, been a couple of years since I was there, don’t remember the name but it was off the main road - not far from town).
I've been to Cherokee a few times over the years. My favorite place is Granny's Buffet the food is so great. Only problem is they are closed on Monday's & sadly one year I was there on a Monday so missed out. Now that I now when they are closed I try to plan on being there different days. The town used to be so much better years ago. I really hate seeing it run down today.
@@OnViewCation basic research on bear pits reveals how inhumane and barbaric they are. There is a reason cherokee is home to the last bear pits in the country.
If you have to ask why, I am pretty sure we don't need your advice. The bear cages were banished a few years ago and the pits are just as bad.@@OnViewCation

Which motel do you own? What is stopping the placement of cameras there?

Yes
You will hit an elk if you don’t watch yourself driving when not tourist season because they cross the road whenever they want.
So how is my grandmother of 98 yrs young black women birth certificate say Cherokee
Best thing to do in Cherokee, keep driving, don't stop.
Well all the outfits the Indians dancers wear were not worn in the old west by the cherokee that's just for the tourist
The Cherokee are not from the old west.
The bear pits should not be supported and should be stricken from this list.
May we ask why?

Pretty sure the finding of gold is what contributed to the trail of tears...
Not culturally appropriate.
It is what it is. Should they shut down the gold mining attraction? 🙄
