Great demo, thanks. Have you tried this one or the nc-passive with a 12-string? Thinking about something like this for a vintage 12-string dreadnought.
You’re an amazing musician and I love your reviews. Thanks a lot for your reviews. Does NC passive has an aux output? And sure nc 2 is more acoustic sounding I guess because of the mic. What about nc passive compared to nc2 ? Does Nc passive also sounds acoustic or more magnetic compared to nc2 ? Thanks a lot
Hey Waylon, watching this video made me order the Mojotone NC-2. I received it, installed it and played it over my AER compact 60 III. I will definitely not give it back 'cause I've found my 'Holy Grail'. Thanks for the video!
I had the passive and loved it, but the cable itself was microphonic and pretty noisy for temporary install. I’m handy but didn’t want to shorten the length of the cable and make it a permanent install. I should just trust my instinct and bought this one straight away. I sold the passive and have one of these to try now ❤
Very cool Waylon! It sounds fabulous and this is the best demo. You actually plugged it into amplification and recorded that in the room! I’ve heard there is a lot of noise with these though.
I've run it in a Martin OM-21 and in two different Collings. No noise issues at all. It is giggable out of the box, more than I can say for any K&K install I've had. The only downside is if you strum over that part of the sound hole, you can get clicking depending on your technique. I found it to be an issue on a short-scale guitar, but not an issue on 25.4/5" scale. Totally depends on your strumming technique. Fwiw I only fold in about 10-20% mic for a bit of sheen.
I gave up on an NC-2 due to the high noise floor / hiss that I couldn’t overcome… it was awful. I tried running direct into several amps / preamps / interfaces and the hiss never went away. After watching this, going to order a fresh one and give it another shot… maybe I had a bad one.
What an excellent review! Thank you for putting it all together, for performing, and for all the nuance details. Also, amaaazing playing! I was a bit bummed to hear that you can’t separate the magnetic and the microphone, as it would be so nice to process them independently. I do like the sound of this better than the Rare Earth blend (as good as it is), though I may stick with the Fishman for independent control of the sources. I could use the NC-2 on a second guitar for more of a plug-n-play scenario, with less complexity. I’m very impressed by Mojotone and the NC-2. I’ll be checking out your original project! Blessings.
Hi Wayne. Great demo. I've just ordered one from Thomann Ireland as a result of your demo. Great guitar playing too. I have a number of acoustic guitars. Some with preamps but most with no electrics so I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this one. I have a few Mag Pickups but this is the best I've heard so far. Keep up the great work Wayne. Regards. Alan
I replaced my Taylor 514 ES2 with this pickup…. Wow…. Sounds incredible. I left the ES pickups/controls/wires in place. I removed the ES system ( module where battery is) and replaced with a custom end pin plate to mount the jack. This way I am not damaging the guitar. This pick up is great. You almost can get away recording with it. Next I will outfit my 814..
I read a review on Thoman where somebody compared it to the 'Maton AP5 pro' as if it is as good, I thought that can't be true, how would you say they compare? Quoted from the review: "This pickup is up there with the AP5 Pro on my Maton 808 TE which is a bold statement. I will also remove a couple of LR Baggs anthems on some of my Martins."
Waylon, would you please tell me if it is possible to use an e-bow with this magnietic pickup ? many thanks in advance if you have the answer to that question !
@@WaylonMcPhersonGuitarthank you very much for your reply. I did some parallel research and it's confirmed. I thought an E-bow would only work with some pickups. But it actually already works without any pickup.
Such a great-sounding Mag pickup, definitely worth checking out🎸
Great demo, thanks. Have you tried this one or the nc-passive with a 12-string? Thinking about something like this for a vintage 12-string dreadnought.
@@patrickfinnegan5230 I have not tried it but it should work great on a 12 string, cheers

You are a very good player and this video was beer informative. Thank you!
I just ordered one.
Sensational sounds here.
It sounds great on the video . Re noise cancellation on the pickup - is it as quiet as they say?

Heyo, besides the microphonic cable, how was the hiss/noise of the passive compared to the active version? Any difference?
Very cool Waylon! It sounds fabulous and this is the best demo. You actually plugged it into amplification and recorded that in the room! I’ve heard there is a lot of noise with these though.
Thanks! Super impressed with this pickup, When testing through my rig I found it had really low noise, very cool :)

@@kurtjohnson6296did you get another one? If so was the noise floor improved?

I really enjoyed hearing your playing (never mind the tone demo)! I'd love to see more plain performance videos from you, Waylon. -Tom
Excellent review man, seriously looking at he NC1 and this helped heaps👍
Glad I could help!

Niccceee!
Awesome video!! I have an NC-2 in my guitar and it's terrific. Thanks for posting!!
10:29 bit of stairway there! It's every guitarist's Freudian slip 😂 Great video, though.
Haha! I knew someone would notice that :), Thanks!
Ahh, is the riff forbidden when not in a guitar store😂
Hey Waylon! Is this the pickup you gig with? If not, which one? Thank you
Sorry if I missed this, but for the clean sound what’s your signal chain?
Worth looking at but a shame you can’t split the mag and mic signal.
Would you recommend DI box or preamp or eq for live performance straight into PA?
Wow, that sounds great. How good is the battery life?
Oh, my bad you addressed that at the end. If my gig last longer than the battery I need a different booking agent😂
Nevermind you addressed that.
First-rate review. Well done. Thanks.

I bought recently and I am very surprised because it sounds too sharp, even with the treble button close ... (Taylor 414ce in a Bose S1 Pro)
NICE review! Reduced my buyer's remorse!
greta demo - what processing are you using on this please? Reverb/Delay?
Waylon, would you please tell me if it is possible to use an e-bow with this magnietic pickup ?
