Merge Selected Greyed Out? This might be why. [Adobe Illustrator]

Is the option merge selected greyed out when you try to merge layers in Illustrator? This might be why!
I work with Adobe Creative Cloud on a Windows 10 PC, and added most of the used shortcuts for Windows and Mac in the tutorial.
I also use Procreate with an Apple Ipad Pro 2020 256GB.
