To my eyes, your manual version is, so, so much better designed. Soundswitch Ai has a long way to go compared to your skills Daryl, but that said it's a lot of work for one song! Great vid as always, keep 'em coming :)
I was so intimidated to use soundswitch but watching your videos made it so easy for me to understand. Now I'm using soundswitch with a control one. Thanks!
I think if is the first song of the night you win but if is a song in a middle of a set soundswitch win. Not enough light open at the same time. Great job 👊🏼💪🏼🔥🪩
You clearly showed the problem I have with autoscripting. Although it got a lot better, it is using a lot of fixtures together and isn’t using multicell fixtures to its full potential. Even with just some pars you can create dynamics by not using all pars all the time. You showed that perfectly by using 1 head at the time … making the beams jumping around … very nice.
Love the info! Have the exact same both tubes and uplights! Those tubes that are directly behind you out to the left and right 2 feet each because you’re blocking 75% of the tube standing there at the DJ booth. They should be out wider so you don’t obstruct them from the dancefloor POV
Thanks for the feedback! I sometimes feel like the space behind the DJ booth is so barren, but I probably don't have the tubes raised high enough, and I have a huge space.
Yours defenitely was the best, I know you put quite a lot of work in it. I autoscripted my whole library and song after song i am trying to manually adjust it but it takes a whole lot of time 🙂
@@DJDarylBennett Indeed. I use a Denon Prime 4, all i had to buy was the USB dongle and a subscription for soundswitch. I autoscripted my whole library with different autoscripts ( a smoot one for the slower songs ), on my Denon I start the Engine Lighting and bam I have a professional looking lightshow... nothing easier to find on the market for this :-)
Your program was dope. It gave the track more energy with the visuals. I would have liked to see at the build up section @ 4:09 if along with the pars and heads, the pix tube was slowly dimming up. Not sure if the can dim vertically slowly as if a beaker was being filled with light slowly over time? The drop program is hella fire though. The AI was too much going on and took didn't help the track be more.
Yeah that's a great idea! I was kinda obsessed with the idea that I didn't want all the lights on at the same time. But there wasn't enough of each type of light to be effective. I think using the other fixtures at that moment wouldn't have been too much
You definitely took that win home. Autoscript had to much going on all at once, reminded me of one of the newer AI shows. Wasn't as refined or purposeful, just felt busy and random without really following the song. I do like the autoscript feature, that's all I've ever really been able to figure out. Haven't really figured out autoloops and wouldn't even begin to try manual programming lol. I just use the autoscript and then I keep tweaking that until I get something I'm happy with.
I like how your show built up intensity with the song. I do agree that the AI show filled the room/stage a little better pertaining to this video only.
You absolutely won in thw show department, but being a mobile Dj myself, SoundSwitch killed you in the man hour efficiency part. I would love to have such a light show (your programing) all night, but sadly, I use over 100 songs in a gig, which translates to at least 100 hours of programing and up to 300 hours of programing (plus the dj performances during the week). That is insane if you scale it up to my music library which is near to 2 tb (mp4, but still 2 TB). It is simply not possible to go through my whole library and AI generated shows allow me to have more dinamic light performances than simply running scenes over and over againg during the night. You are amazing though, you deliver much more than the SoundSwitch auto option
Thanks man! I appreciate it. That was one of the points in my video, that I probably could have made it even better with some tweaking but I ran out of time before this gig and used what I had. Which is what happens in the real world, so sometimes we’re limited with what automations our tools have
If it was a concert when people just standing and admire the show i'd take 1st version. When dancing on some party i would take 2nd version. Does the control one unit has the option to change dynamics presets while playing live? Nice job btw :)
I must say that your light show is so much better, but that is also my thing the standard shows are a lot of magenta and simple and that is what I don’t like, so if I am right I need to adjust a lot
Very specific question - I have a venue tetra bar and an eliminator furious five, what do you think is the best category to assign these lights to get their best use.
I personally dont mind autoscripting when I need something rough that I can work with and give me some ideas. Sometimes It can have some good results and I just fine tune them, after I have edited it down most of the original autoscript has been replaced with my own but nonetheless, it does provide a good starting point.
so basically soundswitch can not be used with recordbox? man, what a great channel!.. really enjoy watching your work! i got my dmx go but want to switch to soundswitch but i use recordbox..
That's correct. You can use soundswitch in stand alone mode with rekordbox and get some decent results, but you won't be able to do custom time coded songs like this video
@@DJDarylBennett oh okay, but soundswitch would still work with the music on the beat yeah? thats good enough i thing then 😉 i might need to consider trying serato seftware as well 😁
There is nothing like a manual setup!!!!!!!!!! I have owned nightclubs and mobile dj business, nothing will replace a lighting personnel that can read you and the crowd to create the effects needed on the fly ( with strobes, fog, co2, lasers, special effects..) I use sound switch, but I program everything manual to each song, but at times it cannot replaces a true DMX software. I use both.
I think as a mobile DJ, not needing a light designer on staff reduces the overall complexity. But I think there's lots of times where having one is best!
This is interesting. Your SoundSwitch is not detecting the bass beats properly. I started with SoundSwitch just today (THANK YOU for your dummies video) and in its default setting, SS is able to detect beats very nicely, just like your manual programmed show. BTW, I am using the Link mode, because I cannot get SoundSwitch to work with Serato DL Lite, yet. Just sent them an e-mail, but I am starting to think lite is not supported.
There's various presets you can try that will react differently. Thanks for watching! It may be needing pro. I haven't used in a while, I've been using VDJ
Im here just to ask where the hell is ai ? Its not learning and dumb - its simple dice system with worstest settings interface even you cant help it to understand what is what, you can call it anything but not AI. you can use it maybe with static lights like par. Its one and only magic keep in sync pulsing and its also not 100% brightnes. Thanks! The control one does have some manual controls you can operate on the fly, but you can’t auto script live, yet
I must say that your light show is so much better, but that is also my thing the standard shows are a lot of magenta and simple and that is what I don’t like, so if I am right I need to adjust a lot
You can adjust the color scheme in autoscripting advanced options. So if you don't like magenta, you don't have to use it!
@@DJDarylBennett thanks I am gonna look for it and learn it
Very specific question - I have a venue tetra bar and an eliminator furious five, what do you think is the best category to assign these lights to get their best use.
Thanks for the videos. I feel the color green is used a lot in auto scripting. are you finding that as well? Anyway to change that?
Yes, in the advanced settings, you can choose the color schema

Sorry Darly - I preferred the SoundSwitch auto script. Curious how AutoLoops would've done in this competition. Thanks for the video 👍
Thanks your feedback! Autoloops are basically what you program them to be or the defaults. But that might have been an interesting control comparison!

Where can I download your DMX light settings on your Google Drive?
It's on my website darylbennett.net, look for the specific light fixture. Not all of them have them

manually script the absolute bangers (5-10% of the library) and autoscript the rest
Yeah that's a great strategy! The problem is that I keep getting new lights XD

well obviously the manual program is going to look more interesting, but i ain’t got the time to program every single song in my library lol
