06:39 I forgot to mention that this isn't the only solution. Sometimes you will need to take a direct approach by doing something like tempo squats for higher reps. Barbell Medicine has a knee rehab template if you are looking for something specific (google it).
Hey Alan, Love your videos. I don't normally comment much but after you saying about your trouble getting that equipment I wanted to see if I could help in the future if you do it again. I'm based in the UK but have a fantastic US agent. We've got both sea and air options so if you need something fast then I'm happy to help. Loving the content, can't wait till location number 4.
Patellar tendonopathy doesn’t get better on its own. This condition is typically associated with a rapid increase in training volume especially plyometrics (ie jumping/sprints). Treatment involves an initial decrease in resistance training loads with a subsequent gradual increase using pain as a guide. A Static wall squat held for 45secs prior to a training session will provide a 45mins pain relieving effect. If the person’s pain levels increase initially during a training session but then disappear and/or are greater the next day (in the AM) this means the load is/was too great. Since tendonopathy is not associated with inflammation icing is not an effective treatment.
Eating gummy bears/sweets throughout training gives your body sugar during the training so it can help if you're training for long periods of time, kinda like having a intra workout drink or preworkout
PSA to the bruises when benching and deadlifting. Asked a Dr. ( i got them for a hot minute) and basically you popped a blood vessel from gripping really hard lol. Dr. said to not go so heavy but they just went away once I got used to heavier weight (It also happened when I was detrained so grip was probably not that strong/being overworked).
last time i was at GNC looking for a product similar to athlean X's "recover" and the guy said, oh you need BCAAs! *insert ron swanson i know more than you meme*
Bruises could potentially be from carpal tunnel... my gf is an electrician with pretty severe CP, and constantly has bruises on her inner wrists from it, and bench pressing/pushups have always been an issue because it affects wrist mobility.
If you have a bad shoulder for example the viking press setup allows you to get more volume in with your pressing. It will result in more strength and hypertrophy overtime vs not. It takes a bit of the stability out of pressing which can allow you to use more weight which can have some benefits. Id make sure to do some dumbbell work on top of it to help with the stability though
@@mamahuevo10 4:20 a km is hard, which is a 7min mile that is tough, not impossible but tough. You can't stop running, and then jump back in years later and achieve a 7 min mile. for one mile sure I think you could easily beat a 7 min mile, but over a 10 km or 20 km pace that is uber tough. sub 4 min km is what a ton of people strives to achieve so even getting close to that 4 min km like 4:20 is impressive.
i just wonder how it will take after my pregnancy ends to deadlift again.... also (i blame my hormones)i got the picture in my head while watching Alan with tiny braids in his beard with little bows on the ends.
Cellin Elise Henriksen I would recommend getting checked for diastasis recti before you start deadlifting and doing core work because you can make things worse. Not everyone has trouble with it, but it’s very under diagnosed.
Related question, let me know if it’s been answered on one of your videos or where I can find the answer if it exists: does masturbation to the extent where your sex drive is fulfilled (not too much/little) affect long term performance in either aerobic (5Ks/marathons/ultras/biking/swimming/etc) or in strength (sprinting, lifting, etc) related events?
How do you know when your nervous system is shot? Is there a certain feeling? Is that the full body tiredness feeling? Always heard that just never thought much about it.
Can you talk about another video of back injuries I am 15 years old just yesterday I was deadlifting when 395 and towards lockout I felt a couple pops towards right side of my back lumbar area I heard ur last video about back injuries and I followed ur directions to do air squats and air deadlifts I woke up this morning with acute pain in my L5 S1 right side the first thing I did was test for a slipped disc by lifting my leg and applying pressure I had no pain in my back but I could tell my hamstrings were tight anyways I want to get back to lifting I don’t know what the injury is can you please make another video about back injuries and deadlifts and squats and how to recover I love powerlifting and have high numbers.
Does anyone know where to get programming from Alan? Also, where can I get an In-n-out sponsorship ? Need one for a professional water gargling comp. cheers
Mahan Alan recently posted a program he made on his RUclips channel. He also mentioned in this video that he works with Barbell Medicine, so his programs are modeled after their’s.
That Viking press is awesome. I'm amazed some equipment company hasn't made a Viking Press/Calf-Hack Squat/low row-shrug version. For Calf-Hack squat--pull back the support stand and maybe put in an angled step. For low row-shrug, pull back support stand and lift from the ground. Another great vid.
Never been a follower.. (generally speaking.. i did serve honorably and do do what I’m asked at my civilian job.) And don’t really take advice on training. However, i admit that I’m drawn to your content. Haven’t quite pegged why yet.. since I’m not here for any advice or whatnot. Gyms don't understand good workout music anymore. It goes from Justin Bieber to Lil Pump in my gym... thank god for my headset cause I need bands like Bullet For My Valentine or Asking Alexandria or Chevelle or basically anything but pop music or that rap shit. But to each their own I guess.

Oh I noticed The Way Of Vikings playing for a couple seconds at the start.... have you listened to Amon Amarths new album Berserker? It is awesome!!!
I need a TITAN Fitness pole!
If you’re running out of gym space, just hop in the longship and take over an Irish monastery or something
William Newell
An irish monastery would be a cool place to train lol
Cin it would probably be cool and his members would stop complaining about the heat. Lol.
@@VirginiaGeorge He probably has just the one member like the rest of us, I don't know if it complains of the heat.
Khabib is hitting that viking press hard.

I'm sure you've heard Arnold's story of leaving base without permission to go to a competition. That takes some balls, man.
5:13 I've seen alan thrall being uncomfortable for the first time 🤣🤣
11:52
He's referring to petechiae and I get them too when my grip is challenged hard enough

How much does your baby weigh?
Adam Paul: 1000 pounds!!!!!!
Wow can you lift him!?
Adam Paul: I could, if I wanted to......
How much can the kid press overhead?
Love how the intro has Amon amarth
"Fight until your dying breath!"
Fiercer! Harder! This is a matter of life and death!
🤘
Who else wants to see Alan run a mile?
Lol is titan fitness still sending you poles 😂🤣😂🤣
best channel on the planet

I'm in the short long hair phase right now and I wear bandanas too whenever I go out or to the gym.
I love seeing new gym equipment
That beard is glorious god damn

Great intro. Love your taste in music. Way of the vikings
"Never ending game of tetris" XD
They've got a Viking press in Coventry and it is a monster
That last meal though.... so good
Can you or have you made a video on plates? Thank you and love the vids. RAH!
He did a vid on plate accuracy. Type up alan thrall microloading and its the one that says stop microloading
wait, wait, can you verify or correct but did I hear 315 for 30?

When Alan Thrall is listening to Vildhjarta he turns into Alan THALL
This pleases me
That Viking Press looks like a great peice of a equipment. Would love to have one of those at the gym I go to

I went to gnc cause I ran out of creatine and the employee told me to make sure I cycle on and off every two weeks... lol

That amon amarth in the beginning 😁
I'm surprised I never hear Tool playing in the gym. Alan just has to be a Tool fan.
I think he squatted 500x5 while listening to Tool
I would absolutely love to go to this gym.
The entire Arise album is beastly to work out to
Congrats my dude
What I find most remarkable here is the fact you have to buy a viking press from the UK.
Roots Bloody Roots is definitely my pr song
"When you're there, ask for discount code "ANIMAL STYLE" and they will hook you up." Classic🤣 #thosewhoknow, know
I actually relate to the guy who gets bruises in his wrists from deadlifts and bench press, I have some bruises when I do bench press
Wow cool, didn't even know viking press machines existed.
Sooo... why use a Viking press instead of just do OHP?

Heaviest song - Into the Void by Monster Magnet. PR guaranteed.
For the 18:01 3 mile was that at the course out at Edson Range?
WE SHALL ARISE!!!!
Thumbs up for Arise by Sepeltura.
Ochiriii Erkhembababarrr... Really bro. jk. Probably the best iteration of my name ive heard yet
When pressing overhead, lifting the heel of the floor shouldn't be avoided?? Am I doing it wrong??
Sepultura is a good one. Personally, I like to pound through just about anything by Korpiklaani.
7 minute mile right now? Psssh, talk is cheap. I shall donate $50 to a charity of your choice if you can do that now-ish
Tom bro a 7 minute mile is not difficult whatsoever
When was the last time you ran anything? Unless you are a heavy smoker I don't see a problem running that.

Do you think that it would have been better for Beast Medals to make it
Why did you get the viking press? What does it give you that a barbell and a rack doesnt?
SEPULTURA IS SO GOOD
To the guy wondering about BJJ and PL. I think chad Wesley smith (juggernaut guy) is working on that right now
Big Johnson seems like a great way to be mediocre at two sports
that's an interesting calf raise machine
I HEAR AMON AMARTH I LIKE
So i have a friend who weighs 130 and benches 185, but I weigh 175, and bench 215, whose got the more impressive bench pr for weight?
used to listen to sepeltura in school, nice band
Where can we send lifting advice/questions?
Alan used to run a 5 minute mile? Jesus

As a gym owner, it is true , you really need to be good at tetris.
that death row meal aint never coming lmao state aint paying for that especially if you in a state that has an established limit on death row meals
I'd like some Titan fitness poles

Lifts feel like trash joints hurt kinda shaky weaker in general etc.
Jared Garrett-SocialAnxiety shaking is the big sign for me, after heavy yoke I always shake the day after and then I feel like shit for a week
3:48 so could you have had it fabricated locally for less?
What is rpe?
Ayyyeee fuckin great song
Thanks Alan
Take your like
I think the Viking press would have worked better if the arms would have been individual
Titan is probably still sending Alan poles😂
you're a 1.5 million man I'm sure you can get that new location.
Would Alan ever blast Blasphemy?
Thought on a new album from Amon Amarth, "Berserker"?
