This Amp is absolute Killer for me. I am a Truck Driver from Germany and the whole week on Tour. Im learning guitar playing for 4 Monts and the katana Mini with Battery is perfect for playing in my Truck. Thanks for this Video and the Video about the MSA Vision Guitar (I got it in black and gold)
I like the Katana mini so much that I have two of them, one for the office, one for the house. I run both on rechargeable batteries. This thing is a game changer for battery amps.
I usually do not use the brown or crunch modes. i use pedals in front of it so i usually keep it on the clean mode and use pedals usually for dirt. The delay is also a hidden reverb too. I hope Boss Katana will create a Boss Katana Mini 2 down the line with a speaker out and a bigger internal speaker and a little bigger in size.
Thanks for including a demo with an acoustic guitar! Think you may be the first to do so. Good mic placement as well. What do you think about this compared to the Blackstar Fly???
Thanks for the honest review. I might also add that it sounds pretty thin. Of course this may simply be how you have the EQ set, but it sounds a bit like one of thosde cheam AM portable radios that i had as a kid.
Bro I know I'm late but you've summed it up quite nicely here. I'm in a forein country, stuck here for quite some time, no guitar whatsoever and not to much money to buy one. I thought about getting a cheap electric with Katana mini to finish one of the songs that needed guitar solo, but now I think a good solid top acoustic (I had one previously) is a way to go. I have my first payday in a day or two, and they don't really have a good choice of guitars here. I wonder what I might end up with. Wish me luck
nice review....I wished you'd also use the recording out ...the 57 in front of the amp sounded great/best...except with the ac guitar...would sound cool if you mix the recording out with the 57
@@TheGuitarGeek I will buy my first amplifier that should last a long time in terms of sound quality and durability, which do you think is the best? I am a beginner pls answer me
I have a ton of amps, but I was at my local music store yesterday and the guy who works there ( they all know me there because I'm always there trying new stuff and buying new stuff) Any way,I mentioned to this guy about a week before that I was looking for a good busking amp (not one of these little ms 2's or any of the real small amps.) I told him I was looking for something that is compact but also sounds good with a decent loudness to it. So yesterday he calls me over and takes out this little Katana. At first I was like meh, but then I plugged it in and had a go at it, for it's size, this thing thumps. And the best part is that when I am Busking, I don't need to bring the power supply, I can just go to the local dollar store and pick up some batteries. In my opinion this is a great little amp
TheGuitarGeek thanks for your reply! I watched all your videos restoring the les paul... they were great! There are lots of youtubers who do gear reviews etc, but not as many who do mods/restorations. Please do more!
I tried one out, recently. Still not sure if I really need it, but i want one ;-) For what it is, it is very cool, especially for summerevenings in the Park, or Vacations. Could therefore become my substitute for the VOX Pathfinder 10... But now off-topic: As I said before, that LP Studio is AWESOME. Visually and Tonally!!
Thank you man, seems a bit silly trying it out through a battery powered, 4" speaker amp but it absolutely rocks! I definitely don't need one of these but I just had to get it!
Too many mini amps :'). I have a Vox DA-5 (the ancester of the Mini5) with many many built-in effects and found a micro crush 3 at a flea market recently (dirty clean and overdrive). And now there is this thing ! Nice squier classic vibes otherwise, I thought of an affinity one at first which are apparently not bad either. This Boss Katana sounds overall pretty good but I now would rather invest in a Blackstar or even a Yamaha Thr10 (usb/cubase included) if I could: did you try these ? Otherwise I enjoyed the classics you played a lot :-)
I have the Blackstar Fly with me right now.. going to make a video. I'd be interested in the black star id 40 and the Yamaha. I have played the Thr10 already and was very impressed but it is three times the price of the katana. And thanks for your kind words!
True, this is the ultimate practice amp for bedroom and recording (guitar & bass input included) but not the kind you would bring outside considering the price. I stay tuned for the fly3 !
They are really quite surprising! Filippa, ask your dad to sort one out for you and tell him that I said so ;) Love your videos and was sorry to hear about your Facebook trouble.
TheGuitarGeek + definitely does the trick. Thinking of getting the katana 50 at some point in the near future your reviews on those and the mustang GT were pretty good. Seems like the GT has had a bad start of it out of the gate though. Anyways...keep doing what your doing man,I enjoy your videos.
I love the katana mini I picked it up about two months ago. Perfect on the go practice amp. I’m gonna take it with me on deployment. Also good to see you rocking the Les Paul :)
I was really surprised with this little amp. it really is a great practice amp and even sounds good recorded. There's no post processing on this video but with a little EQ, it would be far better than anything else of that size that I've used.
You can't beat the Roland Micro Cube It's got a 5 inch speaker as opposed to a 4 inch speaker and will last around 25 hours on NIMH rechargeable batteries. It has tons of effects and amp models plus tuner and comes with a mains power supply. (The Katana Doesn't). It's a little dearer - less so when factoring in having to buy a mains power supply for the Katana - but a really solid piece of kit rugged enough to take some abuse.
@@roblewis3147 I use a power bank for it to power mine and another power bank to power my pedals. no batteries. just need to remember to recharge the power banks.

I totally agree. That crunch is to die for

This was also a great microphone comparison that's what I enjoyed about this video the most. Nice to see the differences the microphones pick up
yes, as a newbee, with all this info out there, now the microphones are so different! 🙄
Thanks for using an acoustic guitar since I will be using mine on my mini when I get it this week. Looking forward to hearing my Martin on it.
definitely enjoying the one I grabbed. great video!
Thanks man! I'll have a few follow ups on this.
Good review. I bought one. Thanks, Andy!
Very helpful video for both beginners like me and also more advanced players wanting a decent (portable) practice amp. You rock!
Cheers Jonnie!
Great sound for a little amp, great play by you. Keep up the great videos!
It sounds really big. I was impressed. More videos on the way!

You're GEEKIN' OUT!
Nice to see you using the "blue" gibson!
Hey Leif, it's a fantastic guitar. I can't put it down!
the Boss Katana Mini is the Boss.
I like the price. And I can take it anywhere! 🎸😀👍
I see you holding back the grin when you’re talking about the knobs.
Great work, keep it up!
Busted!
Own one of these and they are 100% worth it if you can get it under $100. For over $100 I would recommend the Nux practice amps.
I _really_ enjoy your content and approach, man. Best sub of the year, keep up the great work.
Hey Andy. Thank you so much. I love the way this channel is developing. Full of cool people. I hope to keep bringing you good stuff :)
Santana settings on this amp? Thanks
Thanks
who is better, this or fender mustang I v2?
How do you define better?
@@TheGuitarGeek I will buy my first amplifier that should last a long time in terms of sound quality and durability, which do you think is the best? I am a beginner pls answer me
Sure! I would recommend the katana 50 over both of these
If you can find the mustang used and cheap. Go for that
What would be the best settings for green day?

Hello, I was wondering what happened with the Epiphone Jo Pass...???
Sorry! I'll do the update tomorrow

I currently have a back log of about 10 guitars so there will be more on they way! The Les Paul is an amazing guitar by the way.
TheGuitarGeek I love a blue guitar, I'm a little jealous! Great job, can't wait to see what else you do, I just subscribed!😀
Thanks for subscribing!

Hi does Amp type count as effects
Any chance we’ll see a proper Katana Air review?
Yes. Boss have promised to send one for review in a few weeks :)
does this amp good with pedal???

Have to say that Katana mini is a great little amp, in my opinion it smokes the fly3, it has its flaws like anything but it's well worth the money .
It's definitely not perfect but it is really REALLY good.

Thank you. You might be able to pick up a used Katana 50, some people are not happy with them so I've seen them go for as low as $120

Boss and it's parent company Roland have some of the best Solid state amps out there
My katana I just picked up picked up yesterday came with a power supply

Wish it had a reverb on it
Thanks for this informative video! Please let me know which amp is better: the Katana Mini or the Fender Champion 20.
Cheers!👍
seems to work better with HB guitars
Apparently If you turn delay up to 100 and time to zero you get relay
It's a Katana Mini, gosh!
Vote for Katana. LOL
excellent video, and although I love pretty much everything BOSS makes, this is not a product I personally would be interested in purchasing.
I don't NEED this amp but I couldn't resist...
You're missing some notes from your rendition of Tie Your Mother Down.
Unmistakable sound of valveless amp[ification soulless and tinny.
Your videos are really good! Subscribed :-)
Are these guitars all yours?
Thanks very much. Yes these are from my personal collection :-)
