Great band of stars ⭐️ young Eric M on Alto and Bobby Shew and other great splitting the lead trumpet book .. wish I could have been there to hear this super BR band
No offense to those who might think otherwise, this reminds me of The Count’s Band at the Carnation Bandstand in mid-summer, late in the last set. I was there, there again now. Thanks for this vid.
I played this tune in highschool as a bass trombonist. It was alot of fun. I definitely want to purchase a Flugel Horn. My Dad never had the chops for it. He's got early onset dementia and I promised him I'd learn how to play the Flugelhorn while he's alive and I am going to keep that promise.
@fartpoobox ohyeah Pot shots???? You got it all wrong man! I am saying it's entertaining to see famous drummers stepping out of their box/comfort zone, to try and play other styles of music that they are not really schooled in.
It doesn’t get better than this. I’ve been watching this one since it was played.
Greg is AWESOME! What a versatile drummer. Just simply great!
Gregg absolutely kills this. Bobby Shew SLAYS this. What a wonderful flugel solo!
wonderful, yes!
Bobby Shew's Flugelhorn Solo here is, in my openion, one of the greatest solos ever played!
smokin' hot, man
Agreed - absolutely fabulous!
I've thought this for years. Plus, he pastes that double C at the end!
gregg realy lays it down well. He listens to all the musicians thats why he stands out.

Gregg is by far da mannnnnn. Quality, I need to see more of these videos but where the hell are they?!
Steve Marcus' reaction at the end is priceless......what a compliment to Gregg!
Great drumming, Great hair👍
Gregg can play trombone as well, He understand the music, great drumming.
actually I believe Gregg plays trumpet and his brother Matt plays bone
Muy buenooo!!! Ole de verdad 🥁❤️
Very tight sounding. I like this alot ;-)
Greg really makes the flugelhorn solo shine. Starting out subtly and reserved with the brushes, then still not going overkill at the end.
he got roasted in the drum battle, but i always found his playing with the band was the must musical of the three in this section of the concert
He did, but a drum battle never got anyone a gig. He's far more of a diverse player than the others.
Gregg SWINGS!
the greatest one!!!

Gregg with DIXON drums these days...nice drums too.

kralj!
Steve Marcus is bobbing his head...Gregg must be doing something right.
Gregg is a pro. This is nothing new for him. The real entertainment is watching the "non" jazz guys give it a try.

Gregg plays a smaller DIXON kit these days...with shorter hair too.

They sound better than these Pearls.
He still had to read the chart. That’s not a tribute to anyone especially BR who always knew the music.
Considering that Buddy didn't read music and relied on a stand it on first run through of a new chart......
I couldn't see past his hair.
9 year old comment still holds up.
