    I love seeing the smile on Rob's face. He seems so happy to be back out there after so long away thanks to the pandemic. It's good to see. And it's good to see all the fans back out there too. Live music has been gone for too long.

    damn his high notes are on fire! some mid range improvement and this tour will be killer! much better than the 2009 version

    • @StaticYonder
      @StaticYonder 2 года назад +6

      His mid range is fine (so, G3 - A4), the bottom of his high range (so Bb4 to D5) is lacking in power, but D5 and above is fucking fantastic!

    • @Steeler_
      @Steeler_ 2 года назад +3

      @@StaticYonder Shows how bad my guessing work was :P but yea a majority of his voice has sounded good but there is this one spot (like you said) where it is really rough. I had no idea it was bottom high range though. Thanks for clarifying and correcting me!
      Edit checked range planet cause i wanted to know myself and after seeing the registers there you are correct. Kinda surprised me that despite the roughness he still has access to his entire voice spectrum

    • @StaticYonder
      @StaticYonder 2 года назад +1

      @@Steeler_ I really appriciate you being so amenable! Rare to find someone im the comments that doesn't just whine about 100 Octave ranges and other ignorant ramblings 😂
      Yeah dude, range planet is a life saver! Really helps you grasp a technical view of the different registers in the the voices of our favourite singers 😀. I think that part of his range is weak because its on the break, or his passagio, which is a difficult point in the voice to begin with. His age and lifestyle have just made it so, now he's in his 70s, he cant really hit anything round there with any manful support, which I personally reckon is the cause of that rough, weak, falsetto type sound you mentioned before. By the time he hits those higher notes, he's able to sing them with proper chord closure
      Hell patrol was SOOOO much better this year than 2009. Back then, his voice was in very bad shape

      @@StaticYonder likewise! I love nerding out about this band. Hell patron this year like you said is so much better than previously. I've often wondered myself what happened to his voice between 2003-early 2011 cause it was in a worse shape than resent years cause he was awesome in 2000 with his solo band. Strangely enough though i have come to really enjoy the British steel 30th anniversary dvd (minus a few songs) because the grit he had worked flawlessly for some songs but most of the time it sounded like he was forcing it out and straining really hard.
      Still personally it felt like they hit their peak with the firepower tour (austin may 1st 2018 is an incredible show and victim of changes from albany may 18th 2019 has it's second half sung beautifully in an unusual way and the whole show is on here).
      Still on the firepower tour the did sound weaker at the start but impoved immensely (even to a degree in his weak part) quickly but so for this tour I haven't felt the same from them but ill happily be proven wrong.
      Again who knows where it'll go, i have tickets to see them next summer and I'll go but i have this feeling it might be on the decline now.
      Still with all that said they have pumped out awesome music and shows and whenever the end comes I'll be able to look back and enjoy the shows i went to (apologies got a bit sentimental there :P.
      funny though how his really high (and low) registers sound mostly clean but i suppose it makes sense cause even in the 80s you could hear a rasp

    • @Steeler_
      @Steeler_ 2 года назад +3

      also I don't think blood red skies sounded better this tour compared to 2011 (Montreal is the best show i feel from that tour). sorry i just find it fun to talk about this and it tends to become really long lol
      Anyway it jas been fun to talk about his voice and i compare shows myself and save the best and listen to bootlegs to find good ones as well :D

      @richardgrossguth8069 I think they did, but it wasn't very good. I believe Rob had vocal chord surgery around the start of the decade, so early 90s was kinda rough for halfords live vocals.

NOOO!!..JUST LET HIM BE!! ENJOY IT TILL IT ENDS!!.. really how much longer can this band continue?.. Rolling Stones are still doing it but they're not heavy metal like Rob Halford and Judas Priest.. so, he really has a heavy ass job to please everybody..so just leave him alone.. just say, yeah he's kicking ASS..that's all you need to say..IMO AS A PRIEST FAN TILL THE END.
