Just to even attempt to sing Painkiller at 70 years old is unbelievable! The fact that it's still good....is incredible!
Well... no disrespect to the Metal God, but, there's a difference between the shrieking high notes he was hitting in 1990, and this obvious falsetto he's leaning on now, lol. But as you said, he's like 70, so, whatever he has to do. :-) Just glad he's still around to do it.
@@BlackieNuff King Diamond sings in Falsetto....and Halford has even in his prime sang in falsetto and head voice....Name a better 70 year old Metal singer? There is none!
@@omniken66
Okay, okay, settle down, fanboy. I'm not gonna argue about this like children. Falsetto or no falsetto was not my point. Of course Halford and Diamond utilize a vast range of vocal styles including falsetto (especially Diamond, but that has always been obvious). My point was that this performance of Painkiller was lacking the same sheer "shriek power" from previous performances that I have heard. Not a big deal, not a criticism, just an observation.
I say the same thing about ALL the metal gods, not just Halford. They may still sound pretty good "for their age", but you can tell some struggle live (some more than others - especially Blackie Lawless ; sadly I think his voice is shot) - and props to them for still getting out and givin`er anyway. One sure sign is how they "let the audience sing" the chorus or sometimes even entire verses and such. For me, if I am gonna drop nearly $100 or more on a fuckin ticket, the fucker on the stage better be the one singing. If I am gonna be the one singing I can do that for free at a karaoke bar, or at home with a CD, lol.
Anyway, "no intense offended" as Archie Bunker would say.
Rock on.
@@BlackieNuff no point in crying this hard over a 70 year old not hitting the notes he could 30 years ago lol.
Hop off and go hit the karaoke machine
Dude Rob's 70 years old and absolutely nailing Painkiller vocals holy crap.
Dio wasn't sounding as strong in his 60s. Before he became ill. Hats off to Halford!
Side note, when did Tommy Shaw of Styx join Priest? 🤔 🤣😂🤣😂
Well i saw Dios 2nd last show he ever gave and believe me, he sounded as strong as ever!
@@s.9070 I'm glad you enjoyed his performance. Listen to him on The devil you know. His voice just isn't as powerful.
@@richardschroder5770 thats right. But same goes for Halford if you compare Halfords more recent album performances to for example "Sad wings of destiny".
It's mindblowing how he sounds better and better every year, absolutely unbelievable. It must take a lot of work to maintain the voice in such shape. Mad respect to Rob!!!
I was there last night, waited 20 years to see them. So glad I did! Long live Judas Priest!
same, closer to 40 years for me!
Seeing them in Philly. My 12th show
Saw them in 1982, screaming for vengeance tour.... what a show.. left a lasting Rock impression on me! Congradulations on the long history of Rock& Roll.
Wow. Trying to figure out why they had never played Invader live until now.
Fun Fact: Invader is the last and one of the few co-writes by Ian Hill.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Tipton and KK, but Faulkner and Sneap are in amazing shape and to hear these legendary, rarely- or never-before-played songs means so much to me! I love Priest in all its forms and line-ups, but the current one has the best setlists!
This the best Painkiller has sounded in a while.
painkiller we have heard a gazilion times. but this classic and others is what make my ears tingle with pleasure.
Sounds great, love that they are adjusting their guitar tones across the breadth of the material, details like that make a huge difference. Epitaph tour in particular was rough hearing the old cuts with full blown modern guitar gravel. This is awesome!
Invader.... am absolute classic...never played before.... god knows why....... Stained Class their absolute best album
Priest fan from the beginning. Painkiller is a hard song to sing. Trust me I know! Robs vocals were crazy back on the original version.... I'm just as impressed with this version!
Woah saw you guys in 2018 & 19 wow you guys burn turn Andy up too, I cant wait to see yoiu guys again!!!!!!!!
Was there section 1 row U. Great show. Rob is a freak of nature to be singing and rocking at his age. Nice variation on a couple tunes like You've Got Another Thing Coming. Judas Priest purist or not if you are a true fan of rock/metal you need to see this show. Great guitar work...no not that magical combo of Downing and Tipton..but they more than get the job down.
I will never understand how could Halford's vocals sound better now than in the 90's
because they don't
Amazing man! Thanks!!!
Best song painkiller Judas Priest great
Halford you should be proud of yourself !!! fun and amazing to watch.
love invader 1 of my fav priest songs ever.my cousin had the 8 track..i played the piss out if it.nothin beats a goid home amp and a subwoofer for real 3 d depth in low end.jamming. saw them a bunch but they never did invader.
Soo awesome!!!
4:02 Painkiller
Great choice of tunes.. Holy shit that would be cool live
Rob is again backwards, sounds incredible
EPIC!
KILLIN' IT!!
Nice!!
Painkiller 👌
🖤
No comments, the best.
badass
Entire show was like sound mix had issues. I noticed during some longer notes pure volume oscillations (not Robs fault). Also when did Vince Neil join Priest as a guitar player?
Richie looks a LITTLE like Vince from 40 years ago lol. I think he would be insulted by that comparison.
Vince Meal can't hold a candle to Richie Faulkner
He sings "I get high, high on speed" as "Nahgee ha, amoopeed"
And the only one on stage who really has 50 years with the band is the one who is given less prominence, Poor Ian Hill !!!
It is said. There can only be one true metal God
Makes me wonder, does Ian prefer to stay in the background or does the band not let him shine?
The bassist of KK's Priest sure shines more.
@@noneofyourbusiness4830 I'm sure he prefers to stay back there's
Have you ever watched him? For a bassist he has no rhythm. He always looks so out of place.
@@noneofyourbusiness4830 exactly man!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Cmon October!!! 52nd show and probably last.
Metal Santa can fucking wail
Okay so the painkiller album is what got me into judas priest to begin with the band members are showing there age but still pretty damn good I'm seeing them in Chicago on the 20 th
Wow what an original set design. : |
What was with the bull?
I’m not sure of it’s significance.
It's a reference to The Bull Ring in Walsall, Priest's hometown. Read Robs autobiography "Confess", its in the last chapter, written during lockdown
@@StaticYonder Thank you. I’ll check it out
The Falcon destroying the leads! BOOM!!!
But why does Richie play both solos?
I love Invader, but rather they didn't keep playing Painkiller. For me they should just let that one go, not a good song to begin with, and has to tear up the singer because its so hard to do. But still unbelievable, major respect for pulling that off at 70 years old.
The echo on the chorus ruins it other than that Rob fucked aced it
Rob time to get back with the Halford band or do a fight album start making great music
Rob sounds great I'm getting tired of the guitar sound for Judas Priest it's so muddy in does not sound like dual players I think they jump the shark without Glen
Glen Tipton's still with the band. He just doesn't tour anymore because of Parkinson's. But he still does studio work.
Love the band and love Richie but he is fucking loud 🤣
woah his vocal cut iff after ritchies solo wtf.ok it was only a few sec but long enuff to fug eveybody. painkiller 1 of the albums where every song on it is a chicken dinner.😆
Yikes
