Sounds awesome. Great band. Not an easy song to sing. Rob sounds pretty damn close to the original recorded vocals from back in the day! He always sounds better live anyway when he just lets it out!
Yeah right? Fk I never expected Rob to be this great at this song around this time. He still kinda struggles for that faster verse but I would have still been blown away if I was there.
Eu vi na chamada da globo, apenas poucos segundos do show da banda Halford tocando Stained Class, mudou a minha vida musical. A potência, o visual, a voz, a sustentação, perfeito!
4'50" a 5'10" dispensam o resto de 99% dos cantores que tanto forçaram cantando em falsetes mas jamais envelheceram com uma voz como Halford e o Steven Tyler. Monstros indestrutíveis.
Rob Halford is the all-time best Heavy Metal singer, in my opinion. All things considered, he still sounds pretty damned good, even today. However, I believe that after this tour with the Halford band, he lost something. Maybe he overworked his voice during the tour? I don't know...but, something happened for sure, because his voice hasn't been this strong, since. I'll always be a fan, hell or high water, but this performance of "Stained Class" is a fucking gem, and marks the end of an era, as far as Halford's vocal range and strength is concerned. Again, just the opinion of this ol' heavy metal maniac! 😉
Wild-eyed and tight fisted, I'm fused to the bone I stand contemplating, reacting alone Impaled with betrayal The tourniquet turns Society's creation Pole-axed out and burnt Long ago when man was king, his heart was clean now he's stained class Time has slashed each untouched thing, so now he's just a stained class king Transfixed at deliverance, is this all there is Faithless continuum, into the abyss Fierce is my conviction, absolute my belief I spit at you apathy, and seducer deceit Long ago when man was king, his heart was clean now he's stained class Time has slashed each untouched thing, so now he's just a stained class king Lethal, deadly, hung, drawn and quartered He slaughtered and faltered and altered the world But by doing so smashed all his hopes and utopian dreams Whipping, stripping, peeling the flesh off, relentless and senseless His lust snapped like vipers whose fangs sank in deep To infest and decay from the core Impaled with betrayal, the tourniquet turns Society's creation, pole-axed out and burnt Long ago when man was king, his heart was clean now he's stained class Time has slashed each untouched thing, so now he's just a stained class king Stained class king
That song on that album as a budding metal guitar god changed my perspective. Snarling, punctual, nasty, tight, tough and brisk. The NWOBM arrived in a condensed package of rage and glory. The Stained Class album set the world on fire!

Early in 1978 - January/February in England, (along with "Savage") promoting the newly released album. By May 1978, it was removed from the setlist, as "Exciter", "White Heat, Red Hot" and "Beyond the Realms of Death" remained on.
mysocalledknife07 As far as I know, this information is correct. However, throughout that tour they did play ”Better by you...” from Stained Class as well. Strangely enough, 2 tours later, when Holland joined the band, they only played one song from Stained Class ”Beyond the realms...” and dropped that one also by 1982. So, despite arguably their best album, Stained Class was almost completely ignored in Priest’s 80s setlists! I always found that odd.🤔

Sorte a de quem viu ao vivo a melhor banda que Halford já tocou. Pressão total! Vi em casa. Foi intenso e até hj vejo sem cansar.
Tb assisti em casa e gravei em VHS, showzaço👏👏👏
Halford definitely still had some chops here. This was a great time to see him live
I agree....Halford was totally on top of his game, STILL, during this time!! Excellent performance!! \m/ \m/
he still is
What a great band he had!

My favorite track off of "Stained Class".... great version here...🤘🤘👊👊
Saw them do this in Philadelphia in the Fall of 2000. Still the greatest heavy metal song I've ever seen performed live. Outstanding.
Wild-eyed and tight fisted, I'm fused to the bone
I stand contemplating, reacting alone
Impaled with betrayal
The tourniquet turns
Society's creation
Pole-axed out and burnt
Long ago when man was king, his heart was clean now he's stained
class
Time has slashed each untouched thing, so now he's just a
stained class king
Transfixed at deliverance, is this all there is
Faithless continuum, into the abyss
Fierce is my conviction, absolute my belief
I spit at you apathy, and seducer deceit
Long ago when man was king, his heart was clean now he's stained
class
Time has slashed each untouched thing, so now he's just a
stained class king
Lethal, deadly, hung, drawn and quartered
He slaughtered and faltered and altered the world
But by doing so smashed all his hopes and utopian dreams
Whipping, stripping, peeling the flesh off, relentless and
senseless
His lust snapped like vipers whose fangs sank in deep
To infest and decay from the core
Impaled with betrayal, the tourniquet turns
Society's creation, pole-axed out and burnt
Long ago when man was king, his heart was clean now he's stained
class
Time has slashed each untouched thing, so now he's just a
stained class king
Stained class king

All respect to Glenn and KK, but Stained Class and Jawbreaker is in another level with this band.
Maybe cuz these guys aren't old bags of bones while the former ARE lol

why does he always sing better with other guys instead of priest he sings more heavy
Shame about the chorused/flanged out guitars. It’s a great version but the guitars have no balls.
