***** Yeah man... see the fleets of Mesa's behind em' on stage..!? I think Het was using a combination of his personal Hot-Rodded TriAxis with those Rec's to add teeth to the tone. Monsterous!!!?!?! Maybe even more-so than the 'Justice' tour tone?! Maybe... ;)
Its the one used in st.anger. everything about the album was great except for the snare. its like they went Master of reality on all these songs downtuned to B or C. Its pretty cool hearing the classics with this tone.
Maybe it's just my speaker set up, a Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 set for a computer but I can largely tune out the snare nastiness just by cranking up the sub. I have a Raspberry Pi music server playing my music through Plex via my XBox. (maybe not best for audiophiles though lol) But very much in agreement. St Anger is awesome
In my opinion, Trujillo is better than Jason, you can actually hear the bass now, even in a live song you can actually hear the bass which is really hard to do in a LIVE
Metallica ended being metallica by the end of 20th century. Their best songs will always be before the year 2000. After that they have been living in the glorious shadow of their own past.
am i the only one who noticed he fucked up the lyrics? "see our mother out to death, see our mother die" should be in the second part after the breakdown not the first. also kirk butchered that solo.
this is pretty shit tbh, compared to any performance they've done of this from 1988-1999 and 2008-present. those early 2000's years were fucking dreadful
Kirk prolly had disfunction happening w wireless monitor or something. It’s hard to say... I’ve seen him tank over the years, but being the opening song something probably went wrong for him to be that shitty
That's the worst solo attempt I've ever heard, besides maybe the Polyphia drunk solos. I don't know what happened. They even cut off the solo early. And that's his BEST solo.
If you mean Ecstasy of Gold, then yes I'm sure I've heard them play it live, but can't say where. If you mean the Blackened intro: that piece is like 6 or 7 guitar tracks overlaid on the recording to get it to sound like that. Also, everyone knows it's 'reversed'. I don't think just James & Kirk could pull it off on stage themselves.
Yeah just like ghost said the actual Blackend intro is a good amount of guitars playing pretty much same riff but with slight alterations, and on top of that it’s in reverse so that’s why they’ve never even attempted playing it live
Everything is cool and great unless the sound of the drums. It's awful. This song in Mexico City in 2009 is maybe one the greatest live perfomances in the 2000's decade.
God can't forgive that solo. Did they get drunk off their heads again? What the hell is this? What happened on this performance? listening to a good old band live is fucking horrible after 2000 unless they're young
That tone... that biting, crushing tone.
Maybe... ;)

Have heard much better. Sounds flubby, yet fizzy as fuck to me.
@@elvissorna8861 The snare was brutal. But it belonged in a death metal record.
You can actually hear the bass!
Yeah, but at least Trujillo has simplified his playing now. Can you imagine if he actually played cool bass lines with metallica?
Best intro of all TIME
MrJakeJimmy the best intro ever
@@Bigkidstudios23 Best intro of the world
They short start with the forward version of the intro that transitions to the reversed album version
One of my fav live songs.. This is also the first time I saw Trujillo with Tallica. I was like " WTF is goin on here.. where's Jason oO? "
When did you find out that he "left the fookin band"
In my opinion, Trujillo is better than Jason, you can actually hear the bass now, even in a live song you can actually hear the bass which is really hard to do in a LIVE
@@carlossierra5591 that's depend of enginer sound
@@carlossierra5591 well he is a better bass player but nothing can touch jasons appereance and the way he played music. His backvocals were godlike
This was his first concert with the band since he joined them, 18 years go so fast
4:03 brutal scream from James, like old days
3:19 just for the double bass Part
From 89' sound to that. Where they went wrong...
yeah its because Lars hardly plays it haha
He s doing it @@mussunmussun3536
1:40 someone yells "BLACKENED!" lol
One of Metallica’s best songs ever. Love this live version !!
they were on fire here!! double bass on point lars !
Great guitar sound, and Lars actually used the double bass!
The real intro starts at 01:38
u a real one homie
Who skips ecstacy of gold? That's sacrilege...
great music for the lock down here at Luzon isles!
Rob is a beast
One of the best lyrics.
This was probably the first time they played it since the black album
nope, they played it in 1999, at detroit.
Metallica ended being metallica by the end of 20th century. Their best songs will always be before the year 2000. After that they have been living in the glorious shadow of their own past.
Guess they can't play their old stuff anymore
That's sad.
20 years later and I STILL come back to this performance. 👌
Lars and that god damn little toy set of his.
I mean, jesus, Kirk...wtf?
But he friggin BUTCHERED it
He also played about 10% of it
This was the first concert they did after they reunited, so maybe that has something to do with it?
4:57 and especially 5:01 ahh just like all these years ago \m/
before watching let me guess Kirk doesn’t play the whole blackened solo which pisses me off
Lmao wtf was that I was laughing when he was doing ...what he was doing
Trujillo be like “hey why this bass ain’t playin?”
am i the only one who noticed he fucked up the lyrics? "see our mother out to death, see our mother die" should be in the second part after the breakdown not the first. also kirk butchered that solo.
Dude I scrolled down to see if anyone else heard James' fuck up lol
Oh Kirk!! CANNOT PLAY THIS SOLO RIGHT!! NEVER!!
I can hear James singing that. In his head.
Nevvaaaaaaahhh...
@5:39 what is dave mustaine doing here?
6:33 FUCKYEAH!! O:O those eyes and headbang!
Man Kirk that solo though 🤣🤣🤣
Lars and Rob look like the just got done playing Basketball outside Rob’s place and James and Kirk look like they came from robbing a bank
Tight performance
7:28 Hyu
I wonder how much those amps were? or Mesa was having a sale.
This opening......
You can actually hear the bass now
Damn I feel like this is the first time besides the live shit binge and purge album he’s actually done double bass live
much faster than the original
7:28 - After visiting Russia :Р
the moment when james mixed up the words 😂
Starts at 1:38
3:20 omg lars! Como en los viejos tiempos.
Had to go back n watch the mountainview Cali 89 version to purge that out of me head...still not too bad tho.
Poser
Monsters of Rock 2003....the bad ever his show
So st fucking anger good!!!
this is pretty shit tbh, compared to any performance they've done of this from 1988-1999 and 2008-present. those early 2000's years were fucking dreadful
Lars sounds great though
What happened to the solo??? Were Kirks fingers just not into it that night?
Probably that's what happens when recording album without solos
Kirk prolly had disfunction happening w wireless monitor or something. It’s hard to say... I’ve seen him tank over the years, but being the opening song something probably went wrong for him to be that shitty
Kirk was all over the place with that solo... smh!
It’s funny all the Kirk hater comments. I never see people talk about James mistakes. Because he hardly has any. Rhythm god.
Dobre dobre , to chyba poczatki Roba gosc jest spoko bardzo
Now i undertstand why everybody likea Blackened
Looks like Hammet was trying to save notes in solo
wtf kind of solo is that lol
Kirk must have been really angry that day, lol
After 1999 Kirk kept on messing up the balk ended solo
They just released St. Anger. So Kirk might've forgot how to play solos
That's the worst solo attempt I've ever heard, besides maybe the Polyphia drunk solos. I don't know what happened. They even cut off the solo early. And that's his BEST solo.
4:05
Why is it so funny seeing Lars drinking orange juice in the beginning?
Is it me or does James kinda look like the edge from U2
Did the ever try to play the intro live?
If you mean Ecstasy of Gold, then yes I'm sure I've heard them play it live, but can't say where.

I was soooo disappointed when I saw this first ROB-Performance after JASON: no headbanging, no strong vocals, Robs clothes not fitting......
that fill 5:02
I don't know why Kirk Fucks up his own solos ???
Love Kirk but he is butchering the rhythm in my right ear.
This is a fucking "The Ecstasy of Gold" from "The good, the bad and the ugly" movie, not "Intro"
лажа на лаже..
Stalin!
Everything is cool and great unless the sound of the drums. It's awful.

st. anger tone sucks
God can't forgive that solo. Did they get drunk off their heads again? What the hell is this? What happened on this performance? listening to a good old band live is fucking horrible after 2000 unless they're young
Damn Lars is terrible live. Kirk either gave up trying because of Lars or is drunk lol
Lars plays good here.
Maybe the mic is not that good but he plays good.
Weak solo Kirk 😩
Man... Rock bottom of Metallica
Kirk's WORST SOLO EVER!!!🤬
Kirk is terrible
Horrible
tired....old....sloppy.....only real "energy" is Rob moving a bit....get rid of kirk .........the crowd was on point though...
butchered solo
