the adductor and abductor machines also improve your squat depth. You'll make great progress in no time, even though the muscle soreness is on whole new level.

1st time I went ALL the way down, I had to go from the 225 I Thought I was lifting to about 95 lbs to stay balanced, stable, and get three good sets to failure. I hurt SOOO much more the next three days from 95 lbs done right than I ever did trying to squat 225 improperly. now I'm getting 185 as my second and third set and seeing much more progressive growth. Thanks Scott for all the great info.

I think it might also be beneficial to mention anatomical limitations or differences that create those limits. A big one is femur length, and I have been working through that one my whole life. Everyone is a bit different in hip and joint flexibility as well, which obviously makes it hard to create a definitive guide for squatting. But, there is a stance and toe angle for everyone!

One stretch you should try for front squats is squatting down with the barbell resting over your legs (just behind the knees) and a bench supporting your back to stay upright. I usually do for a minute 1-2x and then roll my heels over a lacrosse ball for better ankle mobility.

Hip Flexors are my enemy - desk job sux for mobility. I ended up over a year spending time foam rolling, doing hip flexor stretches, and resistance band training to pull the hip flexors stretched. Still not 100% able to go all the way down but getting closer. Also keep in mind super tight hips can cause back pain. Great vid Scott!

    Hi Scott,
I have 1 question. Do you recommend squatting with your toes facing forward, or in the position where your body feels most natural and why Would you recommend this? I can see in your form and in my own form that my feet face slightly outward. i am studying NASM to become a personal trainer and they say you have to squat with your feet facing forward. this would mean i should have to lengthen my abductor muscles and strengthen my adductor muscles before i can squat properly without my toes being forced outwards during the movement.
    thanks in advance💪
