Hi scott, Just a question did you ever try out Brazilian jiu jutsu I started that couple of weeks back and it gives some great cardio. Well I am still new to it.
Dudes over 30 are getting told they NEED TRT by 'influencers' and it's becoming RAMPANT. Luckily here in the UK despite possession of gear actually being decriminalized it's hard to get a doctor to put you on TRT if you don't need it. Reality is only a relatively small amount of guys will ever really need TRT. Keep fighting the good fight man!
This is great, since turning 30, I’ve got that nagging feeling in the back of my head that I’m past my peak and in decline. And all I can do now is maintain as much as I can what I’ve build in my 20s. But ofcourse I have no proof for this. So I’ll just go as hard as always and try to go harder over time
I was obese from about 22 to 35. Got divorced, and decided to take control of shit. Got in shape and enlisted in the military at 36. At 37 I hit boot camp and crushed guys half my age. No excuses, my obesity was a choice and so was my getting healthy and lean. I didn't see my abs my entire life until the age of 37.
I love your story bro. Sucks about getting divorced, but sounds like that was something you needed to make a change in your life for the better. I hope you find true happyness if you havent already!
I’m 45 natural 20+ inch arms lean capped deltas six pack everything. I’ve worked out consistently since age 20. Strong benched over 405 deadlifted 600 dumbbell presses with 175 . 100% natural Never considered any test help. If you’re consistent make sure you’re working hard you will keep your muscle.
I’m 50 & no TRT or supplements ever. I still have a sex drive & can lift weights. I’m in decent shape. You don’t need it at 50 even. My testosterone has been 650-800 in the last few years. Stay in shape & it will help.
Scott, I am over 50, been a runner, exerciser and weightlifter for 38 years now. It is a natural fact of life that we slow down as we age and there is very little, we can do about it. However, that doesn't mean that we can't do what we have trained our body to do. Early on, I was taught that our bodies don't know they are old because the body responds to the training you have done all your life. I usually run on my local HS track. My "competition" is an 80 or probably 90? year old gentleman. He runs slowly but steadily. Never stops for breath or water like I do. And when I take a little break, he smirks at me and keeps going. I like and respect him and cannot be more appreciative of his endurance and commitment to health and sport. 40 is a great number. Enjoy!
I would love to run with you and that gentleman! Sounds like a great time! when I was a teenager there was an older guy in his 60s who could curl 65s dumbbells with full range of motion and very strict. It was "old man strength" on a whole new level!
Also, the "fitness scientists" of youtube do not understand statistics, nor they put it into a right context when they have some numbers and averages. Scott's point on people just being less and less active with age is one good example, not claiming that hormone levels don't drop with age, but it ain't so significant as the industry is trying to convince the world. Take everything with the grain of salt, even from the guys like Dr.Mike, read the studies, try to think, educate yourself and really keep an open mind, not convince yourself you got one
@@josipdolibasic4143 Do you think society doesn't suffer when all the elderly men, who are supposed to be guides for the next generation, become zuped up TRT abominations obsessed with poonani, running around like immature young men on borrowed time? Just like the birth control pill significantly messed up womens sexual preferences, TRT will not be pretty for men.
Aging is something that catches us at some point but it isn't always what people assume, my grandfather didn't seriously slow down until he was around 88 and that was only because a long life of manual labor had destroyed his shoulders and he didn't want to undergo double rotator cuff surgery at his age, he's still with us thankfully but the point is throughout his 50's 60's 70's and half his 80's he was getting up with the sun, still cutting, hauling, and splitting his own firewood doing home maintenance and mowing several properties that he owns. So far as I know he never went to a gym in his entire life, the last time he did a pushup was in the military when he was in his early 20's, he just did manual labor his entire life from boyhood on, so if you take care of yourself and have even average genetics you have no excuse to be out worked by an old man. The key to maintaining your health and vitality is diet, strength training, some cardio work, and last but not least injury prevention/preventative health screening so you get ahead of potential major health problems. Also learn to accept a few things a long the way, 1) we all die eventually we aren't trying to live forever we want to live as many good years as we can, and 2) Some things are just down to a stroke of genetics, you can do everything right and one day have a stroke, heart attack, cancer, so learn to appreciate each day you wake up and get to experience life as a conscious self aware being.
I am loving the comments on this video. All the real ones pushing their limits in their 40s and 50s are coming out letting the young ones know they are just being lazy!
Man, I grew up watching your exercise tutorials on lifts, you are the natty goat that encourages me to go on and push myself. Thank you for all the years of putting stuff out there.
Hey Scott. I've been watching you a very long time, brother. I respect you've stayed natural all these years, and really, you're preaching a very unpopular opinion. Be accountable. Work harder as you age. Find the time. Show up and stop making excuses. As a lifteime natty myself, staring down that forty year old barrel (38 and counting), it was just the message I needed to hear.
Thanks Chris! Appreciate the kind words. Sometimes we just need a lil tough love to stay focused on whats most important! Keep up the great work! You gonna look amazing at 40!
Scott, you were the first fitness influencer I watched on RUclips. I remember watching that insane dumbbell chest workout where you drop-set everything. I tried it in the gym the following day and stuck to it. I was in college, and in my first three weeks of training, but a month later, my gym mates were surprised at how much muscle I gained. Family and friends were also already complimenting my muscles. For that, I love you, man!
Scott I originally viewed your videos dating back around 2010. I'm 51 now. I quit working out after a shoulder dislocation 9/2021. I got that skinny fat belly from eating junk food. A lot of it. So I quit watching work out videos all together. After my sister said "you have a muffin top" it motivated me to get back to gym. it's been 6 months now and I pretty much lost the muffin top and have a six pack. I only weight 172lbs. Not bad for a 5'9" frame. I miss the 185-188lbs I had in my late 30's and early 40's. YUP, I LOST ALL MY GAINS. Anyway good to see you're still doing your thing!!!! My 1 yr goal is get back to 180 lbs at the bare minimum. Slowly increasing my diet back to the hard to consume 3k calorie diet. It's no longer about being as big as I can be it's about heart health and staying fit -having that athletic look. Now that I got back to your channel I have a lot of catching up to do with your videos!!!!!!!!! lol. Keep up the strong work!!!!!!!
I'm 72 and don't take any enhancement drugs, because of a bad knee I use the eliptical for cardio,I lift 4to5 days a week. Using proper form and increasing weight helps.😊
You do absolutely look Great for a 40 year old. I turned 30 last year, not very fit, and I was thinking to myself how can I make my years ahead better than others. Sprint session take a lot of commitment, may be even more than hitting the weights but I m definitely gonna add them in my routine...
Agreed im 49 and have been training literally my entire life and still look an feel great.no drugs all natural just hard work.my advice never stop keep pushing!
Love it man! It gets old hearing everyone talking about TRT and what not because it’s the new “legal” drug. I’m 36. Been working out for a pretty long time but went from traditional lifting and not having any idea of what I was doing… to doing CrossFit for 5 years to just going back to traditional lifting but having actual knowledge for about a year now. For a long time I’ve eaten pretty healthy and “prepped” for everything but dinner because I have a wife and for 3 years now a child so I just eat what ever but try to be somewhat smart about not over-eating it (which I already eat more than most anyone I know). I’m STILL having some of the best gains of my life and the few people I do talk to at the gym just comment about how I just never seem to stop growing. My metabolism is still crazy good. My hair and nails grow so damn fast. From my sex drive and everything else if I were to get tested I bet my T levels are through the roof. Literally just take whey protein, a multivitamin and fish oil (which I probably don’t even need because my diet is pretty balanced) and creatine. This shit isn’t even hard… that’s the crazy part. People just need to do the basics instead of trying to “hack” their way to better health or gains. I also hate to break it to some people that think Scott has a “mid” physique… especially if there’s no perfect downlighting and posing… but many guys have a certain look they want and mix that with cardiovascular health. I’m getting closer to the point that I’ll probably put my muscle growth closer to a maintenance because i have a limit of the muscle and appearance I want on my body… and even though i have no one to impress but my wife… it’s a lesson guys should learn that women do NOT like inflated muscle bound freak look. Many natural guys won’t get to that point and many people with “assistance” lose track of it and go too far and become undesirable to most women.
I can relate to what you’re talking here Scott. As I’ve turned 32 and got busy in life. Haven’t quit from the gym and your message motivated me to push harder one more time. Been following you since I was a teen. Keep pushing Scott, you’re looking as great as usual.
You do not need TRT, it is getting way to normalized as just TRT....I want to see how long I can maintain my physique naturally, it is something I pride myself on and I think this is a the better path for most. Especially those who have not been training hard, educated and eating well for decades
Not everyone is the same, I went to my primary physician and got my testosterone level checked and it was way too low for my age, once I stares trt I feel so much better!
Right? I see that as the next challenge. I have already built my physique... now how long can I maintain it? If you stop pushing your limits of course your body will wither away to nothing. Nobody said it would be easy! Challenge Accepted! 🔥🔥🔥
I think if your medically recommended it without prompt from your physician that’s very different than if you have decided you want to take TRT and you work with a professional to get it, and also to get in a higher range than required
@ScottHermanFitness I'm over 40 so after doing everything naturally and still feeling fatigue, low energy, no libido, that's when I called my Dr. and had my levels checked, so you can eat right, sleep right, workout right, but it's natural for testosterone to start lowering but every man is different, it's been a life changer, physically and emotionally. Guys low testosterone will affect you mentally as well, you'll tend to be more depressed and stressed.
Thank you. I agree with you. It's all about how we put exercise and stuff for a healthier living way other than how old we are. Age doesn't mean anything, but our mind and faith do.
Scott!!!!!!!!! you've been one of the youtube fitness og's for as far as I can remember. Glad to see you're still uploading. I wanted to let you know that your content was/still is timeless. I just searched for a T bar row and your video came up first and I'm glad it did because you are one of the first ones to share info with no bs. Salute!
All for it brother. Im 5'11 190 at around 10 percent body fat (according to calipers im 8.5 but i dont believe that im that lean lol) and im 37. Been lifting since I was 16. Definitely look more solid than i ever have and still perform just as well. For explosive cardio I do jiu jitsu about 3 times a week where ill roll 7 to 8 5 minute rounds. Its brutal but i feel both my lifting weights and jiu jitsu compliment each other. Been natural my whole life and that'll never change.
As ever, wise words. People forget I think that without PEDs, you will reach your genetic limit after years of training. But to maintain a great physique at 40 years old is a monumental achievement. Still the OG Natty for us all. Greetings from Prague CZ
Thanks a lot for the support my friend! Also I think you'd be surprised how long it REALLY takes to reach your genetic limit. There are still gains to be made. They obviously just slow down
Man I've been following your channel for like more than a decade???? and I'm proud being a natural pushing almost 40 and ive never felt better!! edit: yeah once you reach 30 there are many changes in your body but if you don't abuse your health with smoking, alcohol or drugs, you will still look good and maintain muscle !
Hey Scott, agreed with you 110% that we should be always happy with what we do and make progress for ourselves!! Well said! Appreciate you for all these years. 👍💪
We need more RUclipsrs like you, Scott. Kids nowadays are abusing steroids at a level we have never seen before. I’m 32 now and was tempted in the past to use them but I am forever grateful that I never gave into the peer pressure.
I love the idea of sprints and loved doing them in the past. However, they have a negative impact on my low back. Scott, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. You are a true inspiration to staying natty. You're a strong one. Keep doing you.
@ScottHermanFitness I'm very flexible. Shoes I could improve on this is true. I think maybe I stop too hard, almost stomping (bc I'd sprint on a turf in the gym). I used to sprint uphill when i was younger. I'll have to try that again to see if that's better. Thanks.
You do not need TRT. I went from 334 to 960 in around 3 months all natural no TRT. This book should be essential reading for all men. Written by a 50s guy with natural T levels of a 20s guy Complete guide to testosterone by james Francis
To anyone saying that making gains in your 40s is not possible...I've been lifting since I was 19, got out of shape from 22 to 24, lost 40 lbs at 25, got more serious at lifting around 33, got my overall strongest from 44 to 46, and now I'm 48 and still progressing in about 1/3 of my lifts and am about 14% body fat and get unsolicited comments on my physique on a regular basis. I'm stronger now than I was at 42. It is definitely possible to at least maintain, if not progress in mid life.
I'm 43, husband and father to five, and I'm in the best shape of my life. I've been working out since the 7th grade. When I turned 40, my motto was (and still is), I'm just getting started!.
I'm 66, strong and fast, play basketball, etc. I'm convinced that training nutrition and sleep keep testosterone levels high, and in the long run have been the best benefit of lifting and all that goes with it. I suspect that guys who use gear (whether steroids or testosterone) are throwing this long term benefit in the trash in exchange for drug dependency.
i weighed 188lbs when i was 35..i got sick and started healthy living.. went to the gym entered weightloss program for about 9 months.. this is the most crucial part.. i went down to 130lbs.. then started my body building phase coz i was enjoying the lifting so why not.. now i am 155lbs with 8% body fat 🙏🏽
Amen Scott.... I'm getting ready to turn 49 in July and yes I've slacked a little on my running and exercise lately but only because been spending a lotta time with my grandson who will be turning 1 in 2 wks and can't wait for him to join his pawpaw (me) in exercising and watching your channel!!!
Been working out for 10 years, about to turn 39 and I have definately been getting those "you look good for your age", and "man you look young" comments from people. I told my wife I wouldn't take anything unless I was a 100 years old, and even then I probably wouldnt.
I am a bodybuilder not natty for sure , but Scott was and still my all time ultimate guide for the best gym advice and training when it comes to workouts and form when I wanna try new moves , one of the greatest trainers outthere
im turning 30 this year and i was in shape from 18-26, then i started trucking and got depressed and gained 140lbs in a year an half. I went from being 6'1 240lbs to being 390lbs...I stopped trucking in 2019 and since then, been out of shape and making excuses. I am 6'1 390lbs and want to get back down to 240. I am about to eat 240 grams of protein and 3000 calories while working at my physically active job while going to school. Trying to get in shape and as big as naturally can by end of next year. I am ready to change my life in a great way.
I'm 45 and I do love me some sprints:) Laziness really is the only problem with most people. It's very simple.. Resistance training- Hit every muscle with compound movements twice a week And make sure you're using progressive overload. Increasing weight or reps for every single workout. Diet - eat at least 50 grams of protein in every meal and It's likely that everything else will take care of itself. If not, buy yourself a scale and reduce your calories to 2,200 per day and adjust accordingly depending on your goals. It's not rocket science, It's just discipline and consistency.. Plus creatine 🤔:) It's all I take and you should too.
I agree with you, Scott. I'll be 56 this May and my body is actually looking it's best at this age. No trt or anything, I don't even know my test levels, but I feel good.
@ScottHermanFitness I was also a lifetime bulker that took most of my fifties to dial in on cutting. The amount of muscle I put on over the years starting from a skinny frame, left me with a medium build, which I am very satisfied with. I can also focus on other physical activities, like swimming and running. Even at this age, I can take a month off from lifting and not lose muscle, maybe just the pump. Stay natural my friends. The muscle stays easier when drug free.
The pandemic hit, and everything went on hold - gyms closed, routines changed, work adapted. Three years and 15 kg later, I found myself in the worst shape of my life. Backaches, sluggishness, brain fog - it all came crashing down. As I approach my 40s, I knew I couldn't keep going like this. So, a month ago, I hit the gym again, relearning old habits for the sake of my health. Scott, it's truly incredible that you managed to stay in such good shape throughout!
Scott coming in hot with the motivation! Also I've seen your videos for years and if anything I think you look better now than you did when you first started your fitness channel. More distinguished for sure!
Thanks bro! You are too kind!! The fitness world needs this tough love right now. More young dudes need to believe in themselves and stop running to gear.
I believe it! A lot of these young kids have no idea what intensity it. I feel bad, it's not their fault. It's the BS all over Reels and TikTok that is to blame for it.
@@ScottHermanFitness absolutely! I had one guy tell me grip strength had no purpose because manual labour is less common. He changed his mind when I helped him move his oven haha. There are no downsides to being stronger and fitter. I’m looking to compete in a strongman competition next year too. A friend of mine (the same age and also natural) got me into it. It’s a rush to see what the body can do!!! You’re looking great and putting in the work 💪💪.
I just turned 40 this February and I am better than ever. I have been active all my life though playing soccer 2 - 3 times a week and started working out for 8 years ago, nobody can guess my age when I told them how old I am they simply don't believe it because I play soccer with guys that I am more 20 years older than and the crazy part is I run faster than most of them. Their excuse is that I am lucky because of my African genes. It has nothing to do with luck, I work my ass off, during the weekends they would rather go out to the club or partying whereas I'll hit the gym first.
It’s crazy how your 165 lb physique in your 20s was the gold standard then, but now social media/PEDS has warped our minds on how much higher/unattainable the current standard is. 20 year olds today would say your old physique/current one is too small. Crazy 😂
I’ve been hitting the gym consistently and lifting weights for over three years straight now. I never thought that I would stick with it as long as I have. I recently turned 37 and I look and feel the best I ever have in my life.
Im 40 and i see dudes 50 + that look better than me. So I know i need to keep going. Dont listen to that BS. If you stop working out you DO lose it all. Its why you see western elders just terrible in health and flexibility while you look at Asian, Mexican, European are walking around being mobile and cognicent because they are active. Western society needs a gym because we are not active as the rest of the world in our daily lives. Which is terrible.
But 3 years ago i was sprinting and admitadly i looked better. Its not cause I'm 3 years older now. Its cause i don't do those sprints weekly. I hate sprinting but its worth it. Now i need to. Tday is Monday. Ill start today.
I'm 29 now. When I was in the best shape of my life at 23, I was lifting heavy, sprinting in the gym and training for a 5K on rest days. It really does help raise your growth levels.
Hi Scott, got started at 38 with your be fit in 30 hiit workouts after I was tired of the dad bod. Fixed my eating habits and ket at it. Long road but I'm 46 and people say I'm hench. No TRt, don't thinks it's that accessible in the UK legally anyway. Nutrition, consistency, not too much vino and good sleep. Anyway my gains, but you were am inspiration to do a little bit at z time and keep at it all those years ago so thanks!
Dang Scott, I notice your upload frequency has dipped to an all time low. I hope all is well and you still have motivation to make some great content for us 🙂 Cheers.
I've been watching your videos since the blue shorts era and I'm still a huge fan of yours.... You've got the knowledge and experience and you look absolutely insane... but what I really like is that you always sound so refreshing and inspirational. You were, you are and you'll always be the best in the fitness world.
Couldn't agree more. I look to Jeff Alberts as a great example. He is 52, a competitive pro natural bodybuilder, and in the best shape of his life. His training and diet are smarter, he's been leaner than ever during his preps. If you look at his back transformation from 38 to 52, it's crazy, and he was already very developed. Everyone is trying to tell you gains stop at 30 these days. Is that right? I didn't even get into bodybuilding and the modern fitness space until I was 31. Even now about 7 years in, I'm learning more and more about how to dial in my training. You should never think that you're done, there's always more to learn and gains to be made somewhere.
Appreciate the context of the weights. I've been bulking for over a year but I'm not the leanest at the moment. I'm currently 180 but definitely don't look shredded. All things to pay attention to when it's time to cut and maybe what ideal weight to shoot for in the long run. It's all about the runs vs the sprints ;-)
Hey Scott, check out fixed gear bikes if you enjoy sprinting. They’re track bikes built for sprints, all the braking power is in your legs. They’re also great for leisure rides. Appreciate you staying natty. I remember watching your vid from 9 years ago when I started my lifting journey. You’re a day 1, real 1💯
46 this year and its the best I have felt in my entire life. Sure, there are days where I am aching. But thats not age. Thats working hard. Aim is to keep reminding yourself of your goals and passion to keep healthy.
My pleasure. I think more of us in our late 30s to 40s need to talk about how experiences because this young generation is so quick to gear. Fitness should be about longevity. It's not a "live in the moment" thing. The goal is to build a physique you can maintain for the rest of your life!
I'm gonna be 44 this year and am in the best shape of my life. I still see progress in the gym month to month. As long as you stay consistent and eat right, you can keep it going into your later years.
This is interesting because my buddy who is very intelligent but isn’t in amazing shape has always told me to do uphill sprints and I was just always thinking about it because we hear that slower cardio burns more calories but personally I prefer to push myself in the moderate to high range so maybe I will take this advice.
Plenty of older people around the world with high hormone levels! this new trend of younger kids being influenced into exogenous hormone use has a huge consequence for many - Yes the gains are easier, plenty of scientific studies have been published of groups who workout on hormones vs those on hormones who don't workout and yes, the group that did not workout also gained significant lean muscle mass.... however the longevity consequence is real. We all know of many elite, pro, semi pro and amateur athletes who have had significant blow back from exogenous hormone use - heart bipasses, kidney failures etc. The trade off is always a personal one however the young generation who start cycling in their mid teens realise this in their 20's when they have ED symptoms first....which then leads onto balding... high blood pressure etc. What Scott is preaching here is a protocol for longevity from a fitness perspective. YES you can have an amazing body that performs into your later years in life YES you can look good and feel good in your 40's -50's and 60's + BUT... IT takes EFFORT. Nothing is for free guys, but if you eat right; No seed oils No refined Sugar No refined grains Work Hard: Build a life around your purpose, provide and build your own empire in whatever industry it is Train hard: Intensity over everything when it comes to putting in effort to build your body Grow Hard: Continued improvement in your personal life, family life, work life etc An amazing life will be bestowed upon you.
I am a 47 years old and I get TRT firms and clinics promos in my email. Is too society and algothrim.Look be consistent, discipline and be focus and go for sucess,yo Scott I'm a Ricky too 😂😂😂😂.Great job Scott.
Hey Scott, second comment from me, but I've always really appreciated your view on TRT. Like you, I think that unless you've been shot in the balls or some shit there's no reason for TRT. It's just a way for people normalising injecting themselves with steroids. Have you considered collaborating with the natty bodybuilding community here on RUclips? They sort of sprung up around 4 year ago, with some people like Alex Leonidas being around for much longer. It'd be cool to see one of the true OGs (maybe Scooby had a channel before you and is still posting but no-one else that I know of) talking with the new undergroud crew.
Just look back into history, people weren't taking anything, and you definitely don't see boomers taking these drugs, but they were still strong fit. My dad didn't even lift weights and when I started lifting, he was able to curl 22kg dumbbells like nothing and he was in his 50s. He still played at a very high level of badminton (top Scottish leagues winning tournaments against people much younger than him) into his 50s. No need for any drugs, it is just social media and people desperate for views and trying to justify why they take drugs. As long as they are making money, they don't care about the damage they are doing to anyone else. I would even argue that the supplements industry is unnecessary, I have never taken any supplements or pre workout and I can and have run sub 20 minute 5k's, sub 6 minute miles, 3:30 marathon, and can deadlift 3* bodyweight and 1.65* bw bench. Supplements are just a scam taking peoples money. A good diet is all you need.
I literally dropped a video on this very subject today! Shoulda seen if I could have gotten some words from ya for it! Respect to you, good sir! This is one of the more important/underrated messages in fitness 💪
I'm 30 and I'm the biggest and strongest I've ever been. 3-4 sessions of lifting a week at 2 hours a session. I make sure I keep the intensity up and don't let myself slack but I get the right amount of rest
Scott, first off, so glad you're still out here grinding man! I'll be honest, I stopped watching you years ago once I figured out the basics myself (you saved me so much time!) but your new content is interesting. I have to ask, do you have Irish ancestry? I know you're from Boston so probably haha, but you're looking extremely Irish these days. I'm Irish btw so have the perfect point of reference.
TRT should only be used as a medical treatment. If you see a doctor and your bloodwork shows a testosterone deficiency then it's time to seriously consider TRT. However if you're in the normal range then there's no need for TRT.
I think you shouldn't forget how taxing sprinting can be for the body (heart, lungs, tendons etc.). In my opinion, building a solid foundation of cardiovascular fitness before getting in those hardcore sprints, is the way to go. Don't sacrifice your health sprinting after gains. Be patient, don't overdo it and give yourself the time to adjust to running and sprinting. Push yourself after you've prepared your body for it. Be smart and get and stay healthy.
Hitting the big 50 this year and I'm in the best shape of my life. There's no substitute for hard work and a healthy lifestlye when it comes to sustainability. And yes, there's room for beer and pizza!
I'm in my late-40s. Not in the best shape of my life, but over the past 6-7 years I've gotten in better shape than I was from 25-35. Most of the guys I know who fall apart in their 30s are the ones who've given up on life. They just gave up, no other excuse. 25 year-olds with beer guts are just lazy. Kids, wife, job, whatever, it's all a choice. You can sleep, eat well, and exercise. BTW most of the past decade I've worked an exhausting job up to 60 hours a week and I also work on my own businesses when I'm not on the clock. Also have kids, home responsibilities, etc. I have a friend who is 42 in similar situation and has 2 very young children, in good lean shape. We have a lot of acquaintances whose entire life revolves around punching a clock, drinking, video games, passing out whenever with no care for sleep, etc.
I really hope this video gives you all that "ah-ha" moment you needed to focus on your goals, stay natural and stop making excuses.
You are all capable of greatness, you just need to dig deep sometimes to find the motivation to do it!
Yes of course there are men out there who DO need TRT. But the majority of you do not. You just need to refocus and get your fitness lifestyle back in order.

Hi scott,
Just a question did you ever try out Brazilian jiu jutsu
I started that couple of weeks back and it gives some great cardio.
Well I am still new to it.
@@baseer8000 hey! I never did. BUT I did wrestling and kickboxing for most of my life. Amazing workouts and good to learn how to defend yourself!
I see my comment was deleted.. NOT COOL. But 👁️ see you Scott! 🤘🏾🤜🏾🤛🏼
Legend. Keep crushing it!
I hear ya just stated seeing mine at 38 first time in my life
Awesome.... Keep it up 💪🏼
Whoa, that's the guy from fitness videos we watched 20 years ago when starting out at the gym.
Well, 13 years ago, but who’s counting? 🤣🤣🤣
I’m 50 & no TRT or supplements ever. I still have a sex drive & can lift weights. I’m in decent shape. You don’t need it at 50 even. My testosterone has been 650-800 in the last few years. Stay in shape & it will help.
Over 45 and still getting gains!! Get STAHTTEDDD!!!
Hell yeah! NO LIMITS!!!
Shoot, I didn't even really get started until about 45.
Little bit of gh and of course you won’t age
Thank you for saying this. Tired of fitness youtubers saying TRT is normal for health.
They are all lazy and full of excuses. Sad
And they say that unVikingly
Also, the "fitness scientists" of youtube do not understand statistics, nor they put it into a right context when they have some numbers and averages. Scott's point on people just being less and less active with age is one good example, not claiming that hormone levels don't drop with age, but it ain't so significant as the industry is trying to convince the world.
Take everything with the grain of salt, even from the guys like Dr.Mike, read the studies, try to think, educate yourself and really keep an open mind, not convince yourself you got one
@@josipdolibasic4143exactly
@@josipdolibasic4143 Do you think society doesn't suffer when all the elderly men, who are supposed to be guides for the next generation, become zuped up TRT abominations obsessed with poonani, running around like immature young men on borrowed time? 52, lean and decent muscle. And I can testify Scott is talking truth 👍🏻
Appreciate the post! Only 8 years until LEAN AND MEAN 60!
@@ScottHermanFitness by the grace of God - yes 👍🏻
Amen!! 55 in July, NO TRT, just pushing hard.
I am loving the comments on this video. All the real ones pushing their limits in their 40s and 50s are coming out letting the young ones know they are just being lazy!
Thank you!! Finally someone says it, all I see is how crazy men are for not taking it, refreshing to see someone say the opposite
Social media is a cesspool's of snowflakes who claim to be men. Very sad!
Man is still making videos after 14 years. I respect the grind, I love the videos keep it up!!
You know it man! We grinding!!!
Man, I grew up watching your exercise tutorials on lifts, you are the natty goat that encourages me to go on and push myself. Thank you for all the years of putting stuff out there.
After 10 years of watching some your videos, I keep telling myself: "You dont age 🤯"
That was always the plan. Never age! haha
thanks bro you are too kind!
Botox for a start 😂
Healthy lifestyle and good genes goes a long way.
Botox... his forehead isn't moving AT ALL.
why not a full disclosure of his skincare routine? Is it just red light therapy? Is it also botox as some say?
Scott you look like you're late 20's at best IN COMPARISON to most people. you look awesome, keep it up. this is beyond inspiring.
ill be 37 this year!! you always gotta keep pushin!!! great advice scott!!!
You nailed it Michael!
Scott I’ve been watching your contents for years and you still inspire me to keep pushing as a natural lifter in my 30s.
Love to hear this! Keeping myself accountable has a lot to do with how amazing this community is! YOU guys keep me going too!
They sure do! but like anything once you make them a part of your routine you will do them weekly! Start with just once a week!

Really appreciate the post bro!
If people spent just as much time training hard as they do "looking for hacks" they would make more gains!
I can relate to what you’re talking here Scott. As I’ve turned 32 and got busy in life. Haven’t quit from the gym and your message motivated me to push harder one more time. Been following you since I was a teen. Keep pushing Scott, you’re looking as great as usual.
Thanks a lot man, means a lot! Keep pushing hard too man!
@@monroenc200 were you regularly working out? Eating correctly? and sleeping enough?
Glad Scott is still making videos. Sucha a wholesome dude in the space
Appreciate you bro!
Havnt seen this dudes vids in like 8 years! Scott’s the OG Chad, well said, everyone wants the easy way out/instant gratification.
They obviously just slow down
Love you Scott❤️ been watching since I’m 16 and I’m 26 now. Still Natty and going strong thanks to you
Really appreciate all the support! Keep the natty gains coming!
Man I've been following your channel for like more than a decade???? and I'm proud being a natural pushing almost 40 and ive never felt better!! edit: yeah once you reach 30 there are many changes in your body but if you don't abuse your health with smoking, alcohol or drugs, you will still look good and maintain muscle !
appreciate the decade of support!
and yes! Take care of yourself and you will still look and feel amazing in your 30s, 40s and beyond!

Keep doing you.
even with proper stretching and good running form? Good running shoes?
@ScottHermanFitness I'm very flexible. Shoes I could improve on this is true. I think maybe I stop too hard, almost stomping (bc I'd sprint on a turf in the gym). I used to sprint uphill when i was younger. I'll have to try that again to see if that's better. Thanks.
You do not need TRT. I went from 334 to 960 in around 3 months all natural no TRT. This book should be essential reading for all men. Written by a 50s guy with natural T levels of a 20s guy
Complete guide to testosterone by james Francis
TRT is the ozempic of lifting 🤣
Love this
Been watching you since the mtv days. You have great content and good motivation for us guys over 40.
Damn right! We are on the same page!
i'm 32 and this is definitely motivation! Will give sprinting a try thanks scott

how refreshing a fitness youtuber that does not push TRT as something normal or needed props to you scott
im turning 30 this year and i was in shape from 18-26, then i started trucking and got depressed and gained 140lbs in a year an half.
I'm 45 and I do love me some sprints:)
Laziness really is the only problem with most people.
Plus creatine 🤔:)
It's all I take and you should too.
Bruh this is the og triple og of RUclips fitness. I was watching this dude when I first started. Def an inspiration.
I agree with you, Scott. I'll be 56 this May and my body is actually looking it's best at this age. No trt or anything, I don't even know my test levels, but I feel good.
Hell yeah man! Age is just a number!! Natty gains for the win!
I’m turning 40 this Summer and I can outwork/out lift people 15 years younger (and I’m completely natural). 🏋️♂️🏋️♂️🏋️♂️🏋️♂️💪💪💪
Crazy 😂
Love the dragon ball figures in the back! This video inspired me and my friends thanks
I’ve been hitting the gym consistently and lifting weights for over three years straight now. I never thought that I would stick with it as long as I have. I recently turned 37 and I look and feel the best I ever have in my life.
Hell yeah!! Putting in that work and reaping the rewards! Keep at it!
I have been watching you since I started working out and I am very grateful for your videos
Been watching since the "blue shorts" days. Still killing it, Scott!
Thanks for the support bro!!
Well said! Very well said!
It really does help raise your growth levels.
exactly! and it feels like you are turning back the clock once you start springing again! Time to get back to it!
Body building helps keep looking younger and fresh but natty(natural).
Sure does! Natural gains are like the fountain of youth!
I respect you more than any other fitness influencer
Hey Scott, check out fixed gear bikes if you enjoy sprinting. They’re track bikes built for sprints, all the braking power is in your legs. They’re also great for leisure rides. Appreciate you staying natty. I remember watching your vid from 9 years ago when I started my lifting journey. You’re a day 1, real 1💯
46 this year and its the best I have felt in my entire life. Sure, there are days where I am aching. But thats not age. Thats working hard. Aim is to keep reminding yourself of your goals and passion to keep healthy.
I’m almost 40, and I feel great 👍 without it! Thanks for this upload Scott
As long as you stay consistent and eat right, you can keep it going into your later years.
damn right bro! Keep crushing it!
This is interesting because my buddy who is very intelligent but isn’t in amazing shape has always told me to do uphill sprints and I was just always thinking about it because we hear that slower cardio burns more calories but personally I prefer to push myself in the moderate to high range so maybe I will take this advice.
Hey man I’ll be 40 in Sept. been watching you since 2010 and still “getting it”. I’m 5’10 175
Nothing is for free guys, but if you eat right;
No seed oils
No refined Sugar
No refined grains
Work Hard:
Build a life around your purpose, provide and build your own empire in whatever industry it is
Train hard:
Intensity over everything when it comes to putting in effort to build your body
Grow Hard:
Continued improvement in your personal life, family life, work life etc
An amazing life will be bestowed upon you.

It's time to COOK! 🔥🔥🔥
Wow, thank you for this video. Thank you for sharing.
Hell yeah bro! Thanks for being real and always keeping it 100. I just turned 43.
It always comes back to where you are in your fitness journey. Good advice for you could be the worst advice for someone else.
Hell yeah Mark! Love to hear it!
I remember when you celebrated your 36 birthday 😂 now am 33 and i still killing it because of people like you 💪🏽😁
hell yeah! Love to hear that!
TRT should only be used as a medical treatment. If you see a doctor and your bloodwork shows a testosterone deficiency then it's time to seriously consider TRT. However if you're in the normal range then there's no need for TRT.
Couldn’t agree more man! All these young dudes making up symptoms so they have an excuse to juice
I'm 42 a life time natural in the best shape of my life. Scott is 100%right you do not need TRT.
Just look after your body and it will look after you.
Oh absolutely - you need to build up to it for sure. That's why I usually do a combination of a longer run with some sprints sprinkled in
Hitting the big 50 this year and I'm in the best shape of my life. There's no substitute for hard work and a healthy lifestlye when it comes to sustainability. And yes, there's room for beer and pizza!
Haha damn right! Still got to enjoy life! All about balance right?! Balance the food enjoyment with hard work and anything is possible!
Life time natty, thank you Scott!
Appreciate you Brandon!
Scott is a saiyan , he will retain his youth !
Stay young until 80yrs old right? haha LFGOOO!
I have played sports most of my life, I was told it goes down after 21 when I was 18 😂.
Lol people say the craziest things
