Thanks. This is really easy to follow. I'm 64 and have been in a wheelchair for a few years because of MS. There's a wheelchair/sitting Tai Chi class at my local hospital taught by a PT who is also an avid Tai Chi adept. I always went, begrudgingly, but I went. When covid came along, I thought I could get out of it. But after a few weeks she started a class via live video. So every Wednesday I join her and 3 other guys for a live class via video. My biggest problem is getting myself motivated to do Tai Chi every day on my own. Yesterday, I committed to a goal that I would do at least 15 minutes every day at 2 p.m. This is perfect. Success the first day. I'm very grateful.
Hi David! I'm a college student currently taking a health & aging class and I decided to participate in this video for an assignment and I am very impressed with how good I felt after completing the video. After reading more about your page I know I don't necessarily fall into the age category you are trying to reach, but I just wanted to say that I think your channel is great for keeping older adults active and feeling good and I am excited to share your page with others who thought Tai Chi would never be for them. Thank you for all you do! Stay healthy!
This is the best seated tai chi video I’ve seen. Thank you for this! Your 24 Forms instructional video set was the best thing to happen to my own practice and teaching in 20 years! You are a gift to the tai chi world.
Can't thank you enough for this relaxing video. Since getting Covid 7 months ago, I have had shortness of breath with post-exertional malaise where even minimal exercise makes me extremely ill. I found this to be relaxing while incorporating some movement into one of my bad or "crash" days. Thank you again - from a (previously healthy) 31-year-old!
Thank you for sharing your expertise! I’m a 67 year old female with some physical challenges. These movements allow my stiffness to release slowly and safely in the morning .
I love how relaxing, yet strengthening your seated video's are. I've even gotten my almost 70 yr old husband to start doing this. Thank you so much for doing it.
I have just found you during lockdown here in UK. I’ve done several of your workouts now. Am waiting for a knee replacement so sometimes sitting tai chi is a good option. I’m spending about an hour a day with you 😀
I am now working through a neurological disorder with limited leg use. This work out has provided me with a way to do tai chi again. I look forward to more ways to continue. Thank you
Thank you David. You were great I am starting next week to teach tai chi at a nursing home. You have made is easy for me to follow the steps for me to teach. Thank you Wendy RN and volunteer Melbourne .Australia🙏
I’ve used fitness all my days. Now, turning 66, I’ve subscribed to your interesting Tai Chi. I Took a couple sample sessions and am convinced David is the teacher for me. Looking forward to participating in these videos to improve balance and inner comfort. Lovin life, Mary
Thank you so much Mr. Ross for sharing this wonderful practice. I am recovering from spinal surgery and this simple practice has helped me tremendously. Your teaching style is delightful! I love your direction to keep moving and keep breathing. I have just taken up a regular Tai Chi practice here on my home island of Hawaii and my Sifu shared this with me as I was recuperating. I am so thankful! Much Aloha to you my friend.
Once again you have added another multi inclusive dimension to your teaching and have cast a new thread into the universe that many may travel. I marvel at your passion and as always, from the heart, thank you!
Hello I am 70 and started with Qi Gong 3 months ago. I did see many references as to how great a teacher you are with better explanations on movements and hand placement so have started doing your videos as well. I see alot of similarity but without the slapping of meridians. I have found great benefit in sleeping better and joints losing their stiffness in doing these practices. Thank you for providing the teaching!
Thank you so very much! This means so much to me, as a person who is permanently in a wheelchair. I can stand, but I cannot walk. This is my first time doing Tai chi, let alone seated Tai chi. I felt everything you described. Thank you again!
Amadula I'm so happy that you found my videos. I'va got a few other seated Tai Chi sessions on the channel here so I encourage you to check them out as well - and I promise I will be making more this year!
I am 85 years old, retired nurse and I feel much better with my right lower back pain. My body feels good with your taichi exercises sitting down. USA follower,
I am so grateful for you and freely sharing this seated Tai Chi video. Due to a doctor’s slipup years ago during surgery, I have permanent neuropathy in my leg, lost balance, hardly sleep, and I dearly miss the practice. Thank you for helping all of us! Namaste ❤
Tai Chi is beneficial standing but seated is easier to relieve tension and pain. Many thanks for your instruction and the outdoor setting is another great idea.☀️
I am so happy I discovered your easy to follow Tai Chi for Seniors. I enjoyed it so much. I can't wait to attend another class with you. Thank you so much David.
Congratulations! You're back on track again. Sound was great. So was music. No nasty trucks or planes in the background noise. The sitting tai chi work was excellent. Thank you.
Thanks David. I've been doing Qigong practices everyday now for about 8 weeks. I've really enjoyed them, but a week ago, I woke up with a very painful lower back. It has meant that doing standing Qigong has been very problematic, so much so, that I stopped doing them. Your sitting Tai Chi practice has enabled me to get back into it, to renew my practice, and restore my health. Thank you. Oh, and I think my lower back issues are not so much structural, but rather transformational. Sometimes you have to 'Stop!' and rest, to enable you to rejuvenate through Yin energy. Your practice has helped me move forward in a new way. Thank you.
Thankyou so much. I used to do Tai Chi many years ago and have to say missed the calming and fulfilling way it left me. Many things have changed over the years one of which is my mobility and balance. Decided to look up seated Tai Chi and wow, wow, wow. Managed a full set of this immediately. Will be looking through for some more of your instruction and hopefully get my husband to join me too.
I’m so grateful I found your video. I’ve wanted to try Tai Chi for so long and now, at 71, I’ve finally done so. I was surprised that I couldn’t do the middle part (usual aches and pains 🙂) which illustrated how much I need to slowly persevere! I know it will be something I can incorporate into my regular activities. Thank you very much for sharing this for free (love the background music too 🎵🎶). Namaste. 🙏🏻
I used to do standing Tai Chi but knee surgeries and such have made it impossible for me to do it standing, plus my age of 70. Thank you so much for this video on how to do Tai Chi in a seated form....it is well appreciated.
I just watched your video. First I fell in love with the music. Your opening scenes are beautiful. I was a film major so I can really appreciate it after all these years. You are a very gentle teacher. I'm also a teacher. I'm 65 and I will be back to practice with you many times more! Keep up the good work!
Love your Tai Chi over 50 vid and used pretty regularly before the pandemic. Ended up in hospital last year and still trying to recover so thank you so much for sharing this... It will be instrumental this winter in getting some of my strength back ♥️
🙏🏻 “Namaste” & Many Thanks! This is JUST what I’ve been looking for. As a wheelchair user with, amongst other things, Chronic Fatigue & shoulder pain, I’ve been looking for a Tai Chi form I could follow. However, so far with poor results (So I just tried doing some of the flowing arm movements). However, this Flow suits me just great, I’m SO pleased to find something I can totally follow and complete! So pleased to find you & Will be looking for any other seated/or any other Tai Chi I can also follow. You are a breath of fresh air. Once again THANK YOU 🙏🏻
Absolutely loved this video! I am 88 and my balance is off, working on it but am doing tai chi with you every day. Have tried standing on your 10 minute video, Love it but balance is not there yet. Thank you so much as you are a great teacher and very much appreciated!
This is a helpful video to do seated tai chi. I broke a bone in my foot and have been laid up not doing much. Thank you for this help for healing video ☮️❤️
Thank you for this! With acute plantar fasciitis I am having to stay off my feet as much as possible; so with this I can continue to do tai chi even when I cannot get to class. Beautiful!
Thank you for your great video as you make it so much fun David. I am 88 and try or must keep moving and you are a great teacher as you make it so easy and enjoyable 😂. I love the flow.
That is beautiful thank you , l have limited mobility currently so a blessing to see, and to do. Self love. Thank you for sharing your gift with the You Tube world ♡
If you’re disabled, a senior, or just unable to do traditional floor-standing exercises, this is an example of a good one you can do. It doesn’t take much physical strength or exertion; it’s nice and calming, so you get a touch of meditation to go along with it. 😉
Many thanks David! I used to practise tai chi many many years ago and it’s a delight to be back on the track. I enjoyed it so much and I plan to share it with my folks, 表示感激
I like these chair tai chi short exercise sessions very much...standing to do tai chi is just not possible right now. I am hoping this will improve. All the best.
My Assisted Living residents LOVE this video - it is just the right amount, and we are able to get through the 15 minutes with any necessary modifications (how high we lift our arms due to shoulder issues being the number one difference. I would love to have a copy of this video, and any other short ones that you might have that allow for the viewers to see you sitting down. Do you have any additional videos, or ideally a DVD that I could purchase, that just feature seated Tai Chi? Those would be a great help to my seniors. Thanks!
Thank you for posting. I am a long time arthritis patient. I took a Tai Chi class several years ago and loved it, but my knees couldn't handle it. Then I fell in love with Ai Chi, but don't always have a pool. This is perfect. I used a ball instead of a chair. It might take a little practice to lift my leg while seated on the ball :) Thanks again.
Wow, am I glad I did a search for seated Tai Chi just now! Thank you SO much David-Dorian. I have a neurological condition which means, I am not only fairly immobile (though I can lurch about the house ok!) but am usually super fatigued, as there is a problem with my brain's messaging system. I have had the dullest day possible, on a rare 'bed-day'. I always try to get up and move downstairs if possible. I was aware I had not moved my legs much being bed-bound today, so thought some gentle tai chi would help with circulation. Your video is so welcoming and achievable. I have just completed this and feel brighter. I look forward to making this, and future videos of yours, a part of my daily life. Thanks again! H :O) (Scotland)
I am glad, too! I missed it so much! Tai Chi will help rewire your brain; I have seen so many stories of people recovering their movement by Tai Chi. And if you can include playing music, that makes your brain dance!
ive got u on a Great Courses set and just now saw u have so many gratis videos u r sharing. much appreciation. i'm "teaching" elders with all sorts of issues chair and some standing qi cong. they r so attentive and try their best to follow me. it's very rewarding. i'm getting some good ideas from your expertise. thanku!
Hi David, I've used your AM Chi workout for many years alongside the other taijiquan that I practice. I cannot really express how much it has benefitted me at different stages in my growth as a martial artist/taijiquan practitioner and in my overall general health. I have passed the seated exercises along to some friends who are using them. We're all grateful for the time you've taken to put these together. Thank you!
Thank you! I have a foot injury and after a week of chair aerobics was looking for something more gentle and grounding. This was lovely and I feel great ♥
I have Myotonic Dystrophy type 1 (DM1) and 47 years old. My disease is neuromuscular and degenerative. I have balance issues and muscle weakness, especially in my upper body. I found this video to be a god-send. Thank you for your POSITIVE and CARING energy. As I followed along with your video, I felt revived and renewed, where all other exercises I have attempted only left me drained and worse off than when I began. The breathing along with the movements are such a healing experience. I am more than thankful to you for offering this alternative for those of us who are not able to participate in the standing form safely. I have subscribed to your channel and will be consulting with my neurologist to be sure this is the healing and restorative exercise I have been searching for for so long. Bless you.
I just discovered you recently. You have been a great addition to my day. Calming and energizing at the same time. It makes me feel graceful. Thank you for have sessions of different lengths. I can find one to fit in everyday. I hope to move to a standing version in the future.
Hello. Good evening. This was awesome. Enjoyed the session so much. I always feel energized and just a little happier for doing a session with you. Thank you for all you do. You are helping me on a tough recovery or healing time in my life after a serious illness. Can’t thank you enough! Peace and love be abundant with you.
Thanks for doing this. I was doing Tai Chi when younger (around mid 40s) then went on to do another martial art. Tore an achilles tendon doing a jump kick at age 50. Started yoga as rehab. Wanted to go back to Tai Chi but because of hip arthritis found it too painful. (64 now.) This chair Tai Chi is something I can do.
Thank you David, I really enjoy your videos. I love the beauty and softness of the Tai Chi movements, the soft jazz adds a nice touch, and your lovely presence and soothing voice bring it all home. Also, am I just out of shape or is this quite a work out for the back muscles?
I’m totally new to Tai Chi and really like your videos. My foot is injured and the seated Tai Chi is great. Please make more of the seated for people over 60 who may be injured or unable to stand. This video is pretty easy to follow. I can stand for short periods on my foot and started the 100 days series but feel as though I’m missing something. Is there another video I should be viewing? I really like this routine. You have made it easier to follow and I enjoy a routine rather than
Thank you for sharing this training session. I have been a martial artist and competitor my entire life from taekwondo, karate to division 1 hwt wrestling, black belt in brazillian jujitsu, boxing, catch wrestling, and bartitsu. However, I had a tornado hit my street and a hastily cut out pipe with the exposed earth left open made my street collapse with me standing on it and I am undergoing a long and grueling knee surgeries and recoveries which has left me walking with a cane and unable to coach, referee, train, or perform professional wrestling. This workout gave me hope for the first time in a dark moment of my life. I have been telling myself this too shall pass, but its been hard. I could feel myself strengthening my core and the elongating and motions were challenging my shoulders and muscles which have been constantly in clinched positions for far too long. The energy at the end of the workout I felt was real and I felt some stress released. I feel like at least I found something that can be done to work towards improvement. I have muscle imbalances and weight loss I am starting to address due to poor diet, over training and neglecting symmetrical training but I felt like I took a step in the right direction today. I can't thank you enough I subscribed to your channel.
Im amazed - I do painful range of motion exercises, as instructed by the physical therapist, to get my knees going, but this 15 minutes in a chair did more for my knees than all my "exercise".
I'm glad to find a seated Tai Chi, because, as your friend has, I had several operations on one ankle and shin bone and still after a month I can't put full weight on it. I need the upper body movement to help me when I can finally put full weight on it. The boot puts me off balance, and I don't need scoliosis. Thanks so much for these familiar moves. I miss them a lot.
Cheers Dave, I have been doing Taiji W/ your videos for a few months now. I decided to type your name into RUclips to get some videos for me + was blown away at what there was to choose from, after you did a video with Jake mace (who was the person my sensei suggested) something about his elbow angle when he does ‘sinking the chi’ now I thought that your elbow angle was a little more desirable, so I chose your videos on RUclips to do once a day if possible. Thanks again david
Thanks for the seated Thai Chi workout. I am 50 and recovering from a torn left knee cartilage. I can bend my knee now. However, I am still fearful of applying too much pressure on it, and my energy levels have dipped. Also my leg muscles seem weaker than before the injury. My accupuncture practitioner advises that as we age, light exercises, like Tai Chi are better to maintain health. I am trying to get my 'chi' back. Hence, thanks so much David for putting this exercise video for us.
Wow, this is what I needed. I’m going to sit with an early dementia lady. I’m going to show her my tai chi and see if she would like to do the chair tai chi. This is so awesome!
Have viewed a number of times now. Slowly beginning to get the movement order. Nice instruction set if there is a reason that you have to stay seated. Mine... pulmonary therapy.. you have to sit still... so the tai chi helps the time to pass quickly...
Hi David, thanks for this video, it is indeed helpful especially for my 80 years old dad, who has just recovered from his lower back injury, currently on a wheelchair.
Thank you so much. This video was perfect for me. I have Ehlers Danlos, a connective tissue disease, which means I have chronic pain, everywhere! I usually do Ai Chi every other day at at a warm water pool, but the pool is closed due to the Corona Virus.
I'm sharing this with friends who tell me they can't do Tai Chi. I did this just before going to bed and I actually found it quite relaxing! By contrast, this morning I did Taijifit Fusion Fire for the first time. Wow - a whole different experience! I love it! I can't keep up with you at the end, but when I can stop laughing at myself I will master it!
First time here, I am a wheelchair user and I wanted to learn Tai Chi and I was really feeling the calmness until the stupid commercial came on and I lost the calm. You make it so easy to learn, I will be back over and over. THANK YOU!!! PS:: I got it back (the calm). now just to learn it by heart so I don't have those commercial breaks hehhe.
I have ms and i was sugested to do this even sitting diwn, funny i always wanted to learn taichi, im happy that even sitting down i can do this :D Thank you
thank you very much David for this video. I enjoyed it thoroughly this morning. Mornings aren't the best for me, sometimes. To start with this just before my first cup of tea of the day, is a wonderful solution. I appreciate you :)
Thanks. This is really easy to follow. I'm 64 and have been in a wheelchair for a few years because of MS. There's a wheelchair/sitting Tai Chi class at my local hospital taught by a PT who is also an avid Tai Chi adept. I always went, begrudgingly, but I went. You are a breath of fresh air, no pun intended . You are easy to follow less challenging to follow than most (authentic) practitioners.
You're style is easy breezy and enjoyable and very nice music!
David thank you I enjoyed your video. I’m 61 , am in a motorized wheel chair, I have MS. I look forward to Learning more. Thank you. 20:00

Just found this video. I have bad arthritis in my knee, so the seated tai chi is perfect! Thank you!
From the bottom of my heart....THANK YOU!
I am so happy I discovered your easy to follow Tai Chi for Seniors. I enjoyed it so much. I can't wait to attend another class with you. Thank you so much David.
instablaster.
Congratulations! You're back on track again. Sound was great. So was music. No nasty trucks or planes in the background noise. The sitting tai chi work was excellent. Thank you.
That was real nice of you to make the video of Tai Chi, thank you. I needed this I am 72 years old and this is God sent to me.
Wow, this one is harder than standing up, but I rose to the challenge, doing this one after your 15 min work-out. Fantastic, thank you! xx

Thank you David❗️ It's so doable❗️
Hi David, I've used your AM Chi workout for many years alongside the other taijiquan that I practice. I cannot really express how much it has benefitted me at different stages in my growth as a martial artist/taijiquan practitioner and in my overall general health. I have passed the seated exercises along to some friends who are using them. We're all grateful for the time you've taken to put these together. Thank you!
Don’t know if u still get these comments, but thanks this is a great blessing!
Thank you! I have a foot injury and after a week of chair aerobics was looking for something more gentle and grounding. This was lovely and I feel great ♥
I'm so glad you feel great!
Bless you.
Wonderful, David! Thank you!
I just discovered you recently. You have been a great addition to my day. Calming and energizing at the same time. It makes me feel graceful. Thank you for have sessions of different lengths. I can find one to fit in everyday. I hope to move to a standing version in the future.
I just added this to my exercise routine and it helps get the kinks out after my workout! Thank you and happy holidays 🎄🎄🎄🎄
Hello. Good evening. This was awesome. Enjoyed the session so much. I always feel energized and just a little happier for doing a session with you. Thank you for all you do. You are helping me on a tough recovery or healing time in my life after a serious illness. Can’t thank you enough! Peace and love be abundant with you.
Thank you for being here!

Feel the flow so much easy..thank you !
Just starting following you by the advice of the stroke club I attend after just 2 weeks I feel less tight in my shoulder🤗
A Great Thanks. You have discovered the best Tai exercise for the seniors. Wish More 😋
I took Tai Chi many years ago, prior to several accidents. This is perfect to get into it once again. Thank you.
thank you, for posting this. this was great.
How many more seated tAi chi videos will you be posting. This is superb for the truly elderly
Awesome Workout loved it David !
Yes I ❤️❤️❤️ doing Tai Chi with you thank you.
Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed this simple session, so relaxing
You have made it easier to follow and I enjoy a routine rather than
Thank you so much for this. Deepest Blessings
Im amazed - I do painful range of motion exercises, as instructed by the physical therapist, to get my knees going, but this 15 minutes in a chair did more for my knees than all my "exercise".
i never seem to follow-thru my Tai Chi routine ( been on ur Tai Chi Day 1 (out of 100 days) for six months ! ...but I really appreciate you !!
Thank you I enjoy doing Tai Chi with you ❤️❤️❤️
Cheers Dave, I have been doing Taiji W/ your videos for a few months now.
Like the Jazzy music in this one.
My second time to do this, love it😊 always wanted to do this and now I am! Saved several of your Tai Chi videos too😊
Enjoyed looking at chair tai chi
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, this is what I needed. I’m going to sit with an early dementia lady. I’m going to show her my tai chi and see if she would like to do the chair tai chi.
This is so awesome!
I have a foot injury and I just discovered this video. It’s perfect and I appreciate preparing this series 🙏🏻
You are very welcome!
Have viewed a number of times now. Slowly beginning to get the movement order. Nice instruction set if there is a reason that you have to stay seated. Mine... pulmonary therapy.. you have to sit still... so the tai chi helps the time to pass quickly...
U know why I love tai-chi, it can be done as often as 1 likes, w/o feeling tired or exhausted.
Well done, been waiting for this to share, thanks.
Love the relaxing music intro!!
Wow! I'm not dead yet. I think I could be able to stand and practice these movements at being over 60 years old.
