    in data sheet he says use 0.1uf capacitor on vc and vcc why you didn't use???

      Robin van, Ah, that is a good question and that is my bad for not bringing them up. If you are building this circuit it is a good idea to use these for sure (which of course is why they recommend them!), these are what are called decoupling capacitors, they are designed to reduce noise and voltage spikes on voltage rails by essentially "dampening" them out. These are especially important if you are driving your motor or logic supply off of a noisy power source (such as a cheap DC adapter, or a switching power supply, etc). They are not technically required for operation, and sometimes foolish people like myself will not use them, but if you can you certainly should! They will (almost) never hurt to have and can solve a lot of nasty hard to fix issues with noise.
      In short, I forgot to mention them because I am a fool, you should use them and be more wise than I am!

    If I use the enable pin to disconnect the motor, that means that the motor is completely disconnected from the circuit, but If I switch both inputs to high or low, it's shorted out and will brake, correct?

    Very clear and concise instruction only thing I would have added is how to set Pin 2 & 7 to change direction of the DC motor, Thank you.

      I think setting the pin low means the respective output gets set to GND and high means it gets connected to VCC2, so setting pin 2 and 7 as high and low would mean output 1 is positive and output 2 is ground

    how much current will ic take if our enable pin has pwm of 200
    and both inputs are low
    (stop function)

      Robin van, if I understand your question correctly, this would be a state where the motor is not turning, correct? Since both inputs are driven low, then both outputs would be low as well, meaning there is no voltage drop across the motor and no power is consumed by the motor (therefore it will not spin) in this case the chips power will be what is called the quiescent power, which I believe would result in 8mA being drawn from the logic level power, and 2mA being drawn from the motor supply power (however I took only a quick look at the data sheet to get this number, I definitely could have misquoted that number!). So you know where to look, I found this on page 2 of the data sheet under "Electrical Characteristics", I hope this helps!

    so what exactly switches the polarity of the motor, is it a 5V in the 1,2 or 3,4 EN? or is it how the inputs are?

      if it's the input pins, then what do the EN pins do? is it like the on switch, without them you won't get any function out of the h-bridge? or is that what the Vcc1 did?

      1,2 EN and 3,4 EN are like switches. If you supply suppose pin 1,2 EN with power, it will ENABLE the h-bridge on the left of the IC. Similarly if you supply 3,4 with power, it will enable the other h bridge(l293d is a dual h bridge ic) and how h bridges work is a different topic. Wait lemme find the vid for ya.

      @@abelabraham7742 vcc1 is for the inner logic I believe. EN pins are for enabling the bridges. And Vcc2 is motor power. Download a datasheet for it. It will explain the pin functions . An explanation for h-bridge . ruclips.net/video/iYafyPZ15g8/видео.html

      to switch the polarity, you have to switch which input is high and which is low, so (in order of 2, 7)HIGH LOW means output 1 is positive and LOW HIGH means reversed polarity

    can I use this chip to make the output of a 9 volt battery pulsate so I can connect it to the 9 volt line of a transformer to get 110volts?
    I just don't want to have to make a dc to ac inverter or make a large board or anything just to make a battery work on a transformer......

      maybe too late but it should work, you might want to be careful though as to not send a power surge back into the chip, not sure what happens in that case
