Bleeker makes some strong points on how Bruce wrestled with the problems on with people that wanted to cash in him during WTD. Something tells me there’s more about the story, and how he tried to go out of the country to film WTD, and testing the waters about not paying the main guys who made him famous in Hong Kong.
I really enjoyed unsettled matters. I know a lot of fans were upset about it but for me I found it really interesting and gave me an insight of Bruce Lee the human being and not the legend, Plus this was all before the letters surfaced. Some fans still don’t believe the letters so they are never going to believe Tom. Take what you want from it , I really enjoyed it. In my own process looks like a nice collection piece, think I’ll pick that up myself.
So because Bruce had traits that weren’t great, like almost everyone, took drugs, much later on in the 70’s, and had a temper, or some how makes him a non legand and just human? What a shitty take.
@@axelstone3131what are you talking about? You have taken my comment totally out of context. He will always be a Legend in my opinion. I was saying this shows the human side to him.

@@TomBleecker Am I mistaken or did Wong & his students' account of that fight change significantly from 1980 when Official Karate magazine interviewed Wong Jack Man & his friends for an article & when Showdown In Oakland came out decades later? Have you read Striking Distance by Charles Russo, Mr. Bleecker? What I appreciate about that particular book is that the author seems to come from a neutral position, I didn't get the feeling he had any personal loyalty to any one camp.
@@BRUCEJJ66 I'm not familiar with WJM and his students changing their accounting of the encounter and haven't read Mr. Russo's book. I say "encounter" because after a fairly long period of the two men battling "no holds barred," both young men reported to work that evening, and neither one had so much as a scratch on them. The following day, when WJM learned that Bruce was telling people that he won, WJM took out a full-page ad in the Chinese newspaper challenging Bruce to a rematch, to which Bruce chose to not respond. I'm not suggesting that Bruce had any fear of a rematch. My sense is that he saw a rematch as a waste of his time.
@@TomBleecker David Chin, one of Wong's companions who was apparently an eye witness to this challenge match (who challenged who does seem to be open to debate) was quoted in Russo's book as saying, "I've always felt bad for Wong Jack Man, so I would tell people it was a draw." I never found Wong's account of he & Bruce having fought for around 20 minutes even remotely believable (professional MMA fighters, boxers, kickboxers, none of them fight all out for 20 minutes straight without breaks but these two guys did? Really?), Linda's version saying they fought for about 3 minutes after which Bruce was exhausted sounds way more credible to me.
Thanks for these book reviews, Stripey, I'd been thinking about getting the new one from Shannon & the Lee Estate (In My Own Process, is it?) & that one celebrating ETD's 50th anniversary but I didn't know enough about them (they're both a bit pricey to just buy blind). The one from Shannon looks kind of nicely put together but it doesn't seem to have much new to offer, but I have ordered the ETD one, I'm looking forward to it. As for Tom Bleecker's book, Unsettled Matters certainly was an interesting read, whether I believed everything in it or not it was different from other Bruce Lee bios in that it didn't paint Bruce as the perfect idol other Bruce bios tended to, up until then.
Hello Mr Stripey. I wonder if, In My Own Process, Shannon will mention the drug letters? I think Bruce Thomas has written a few books on Bruce Lee, and I really liked Fighting Spirit. Enjoy and keep up the good work.
Hi Stripey, great video as usual. Ive ordered In My Own Process, mine doesn't arrive until June as I wanted the signatures,Tony Hawk aside. I actually contacted Genesis who publish the book, commenting on the unimpressed reviews on Amazon, their reply was that they never intended to 'photoshop' any of the photographs as they want to keep them as historical documents and in keeping of the time they were taken😊 I'm really excited for mine though. I'm on the fence with Tom Bleeker, I've not read any of his books but I have seen a couple of videos on YT, thought he wasn't too flattering towards Bruce, just my opinion. Thank you Stripey 😊👍
Thank you. The reviews on Amazon are wrong, the book is very nice & I'm really glad to own it, I think you will too. The Tom Bleeker book seems to be very divisive, some like it, some do not. Tom wrote Bob Baker was selling to Bruce, years before the letters came out. Apologies for the late reply. Have a great weekend 👍
@@StripeyR No apologies needed Stripey☺️ Really looking forward to owning In My Own Process, it's been a long wait I ordered it at the end of last year. I may get Tom Bleeker's book but wanted here your take on it first👍 Thank you and have a great weekend yourself 😊✌️
I had the same exchange about their adherence to "historical accuracy"...which is BS because whatever quality the photos were, they looked better when they were taken. Adjusting the photos isnt changing "history", personally I think the book is not at all up to their usual standards, and not that it matters, but I have made my living as a graphic designer for 40 years and have worked on some rather substantial projects, and simply put, a bad photo printed on dull matte textured paper is going to yield a less than satisfactory result. I know what I am talking about. Personally, I think this book is the result of poor decisions, graphic design and quality control. A real missed opportunity. Too bad.
Hi Stripey, thanks for your videos. I got the 'In My Own Process' book in Waterstones, I quite liked it. PS. Are u going to Gilmour's upcoming concert at the RAH? ;) Also, have you heard about Abbas Alizada ?, he's a Bruce Lee lookalike, he's also in an upcoming movie called 'Bloodline' thought you'd like to know ;)
Thanks fella. I don't know about Gilmour's concert (I'll check it out) I have seen Abbas, he looks very much like Bruce (it's uncanny) I didn't know about Bloodline, so thanks for letting me know 👍
I got the book - In my own process this week. I have the Tom Bleeker book. Had that one some years. Tom seems quite hostile about Bruce and the book felt like he was putting Bruce down at every opportunity. He has his own RUclips channel and his attitude towards Bruce is the complete opposite now. I'm subscribed and I'm also in his fb friends list. Had a few messages and comments in the past. A lot of people claimed that he took it out on Bruce because of his break up with Linda.
I mentioned this in my own process book to you a few weeks ago, I mentioned it in my community post. I think I tagged you in it. Anything new with Bruce is good in my opinion. Thanks for mentioning the 50th anniversary enter the dragon companion book. I wasn’t aware of that.
Yes, I think you did tag me in your post. My first impression is great, I've only flicked through it so far. The ETD book is by Carl Fox, who does the KFM books. I'm looking forward to digging into it. Cheers bud 👍
Great video Stripey On the Tom Bleeker book - Tom has his own RUclips channel. Definitely worth a search and a listen to the Bruce Lee antidotes The last book In my Own Process I was thinking of getting that and to be honest it looks decent from your preview *** Ah edit … just seen Tom himself has commented
Thank you. In My Own Process is a nice looking book & worth getting (I've not read it yet tho) I subscribe to Tom Bleeker & yes he's made a few comments on this video (I'm quite surprised) 👍
That “In My Own Process” book looks good might have to put that one on the birthday list! The Bleeker book is an interesting read for sure. Would be nice if you did a full review of that one at some point, since now we know about BL’s drug use as confirmed by the recent Baker letters. Cheers. 👍
This is from Tom Bleeker book. You just have to judge for yourself. "As a result of having temporarily discontinued his use of anabolic steroids, which he did not resume until December 1972 in preparation for Enter the Dragon in January 1973, Bruce had again shed nearly twenty pounds of muscle, and his face looked gaunt and pale. To many, the sight of Bruce wearing a washed-out yellow jumpsuit that hung on his frail body like a wet dish rag was heartbreaking. It was hardly coincidental that Game of Death was the only film starring Bruce Lee in which he did not appear bare- chested. As to his performance, the spark that had previously ignited a dynamic explosion of energy was poignantly absent, and in the scenes with his protege Dan Inosanto, the two men appeared evenly matched."
First of all, Dan and Bruce were never “evenly matched” have we seen the same movie? Bruce’s movement is superior in every way to Dan’s, Second of all, you, nor Tom, can name the steroids, or the people who claim he took them. This is a huge red flag. Until you know what the compounds are, oral or injectable, and how long the cycles were, and who supposedly knew, there’s no evidence. Bruce lost weight for various reasons. He was taking cocaine, which increases metabolism. He wasn’t eating much. It was very hot during the time, he was stressed, over worked, probably not sleeping much. And his workouts and energy expenditure was much higher than the calories he was taking in. It’s no surprise he lost weight. If he took steroids, that’s fine. But until there is definitive proof of what he took, and for how long and who supposedly knew, it’s bullshit. Also, you can’t just decide to hop on steroids and stop taking them. You can permanently shut down your endocrine system which can cause a wide array of health problems. Based on Bruce’s activity from the 60’s and 70’s. He showed no adverse effects or symptoms of steroid use. If he used them he used them, but there is no physical signs of any usage. I know more than the average person, and Bruce shows nothing that cannot be achieved through diet and training, also, bear in mind hydration levels, how hot Hong Kong was at that time. If anything cocaine accelerated the weight loss and the lack of enough calories contributed.
Bought in my own process a couple of weeks ago for £32 and it’s gone down in price again 😂 I’d say it’s not bad for the price and a really nice cover. Still need to get unsettled matters been after that one for a while. Nice review mate 😁
Yes, mate. The ETD book is full of pics & info on the film & the Uk cencors etc. i've not read it yet but from first looks, it's a winner. Carl Fox does some awesome work on Bruce Lee & Kung Fu Monthly stuff 👍
Not read Bleeker's book butni have the other 3. Will start reading in my own process soon. The enter the dragon book is a good read, but is full of typos. God knows who was paid to proof read that 😫. The Bruce Thomas book is ok. Its a short biography on Bruce, and i completely agree that the quality of the photos are dreadful. Great video Stripey 👍
The reviews on Amazon about the In My Own Process book are quite negative so I was going to think twice about getting it. But your showing of it has made me feel better about getting it. So, my wallet isn't about to like me in a minute.
Hi Stripey, nice work in my opinion the only 2 books that really show the Real Bruce Lee are these Tom Bleeker and Mathew Polly, Tom Bleeker actually knew Bruce, there are few podcasts on Tom Bleeker on RUclips and I found them to be fascinating and Truthful, don't forget when he was about to do a biography on Bruce Lee and expose certain home truths Linda started the lawsuits against Tom , I have read other books from certain authors about Bruce Lee and always painted a clean and Goody Goody picture of Bruce, as I said before this is only my opinion on these 2 books. Keep up the good work mate.
Hey, bud. I've read Matt Polly's book (loved it) And I'm looking forward to reading Unsettled Matters. I'm subbed to Tom Bleekers YT channel & quite enjoy his content. Cheers 👍
To clarify, before publishing "Unsettled Matters," I was threatened with two potential civil lawsuits by Linda Lee / Adrian Marshall (her attorney) and producer Raymond Chow. In response, my attorney, who had vetted the entire manuscript (which all three received a copy prior to publication), assured me that I would prevail in court - the truth being an absolute defense. Upon publication, neither Linda, Adrian Marshall, nor Raymond Chow went ahead with their proposed lawsuits.
Stripey, you may be familiar with the book "The Legend of Bruce Lee" (1974) by Alex Ben Block, which sold over four million copies. Earlier this week, Alex, a good friend whose writing I admire, sent me the galleys of his new book, "The Adventures of Young Bruce Lee." I'm nearly finished reading it, and in my view, it's excellent. I highly recommend adding this book to your future reading list. Cheers
Hi Tom, thanks for commenting. Alex Ben Block's book was one of the first books I ever read on Bruce, along with Bruce Lee: The Man Only I Knew by Linda. I will add "The Adventures of Young Bruce Lee" to my wants list. I'm looking forward to reading Unsettled Matters. Cheers Bud 👍
I saw this £8 cheaper on Amazon on release day so bought it. Was not sure about Tony Hawk but am happy with the book and the price. You have to pay for quality and the high end being the likes of Steve Kerridge. His books are very good and have a vast collection of his books. Nice video post Stripey well done and keep up the good work. Another good book is by Bey Logan called "Bruce Lee and I". A very good read for people who actually read books and not just looking at the pictures 🙂 Cheers Stripey ✌🏽
Agreed, mate. Steve Kerridge is one of my favs (but they're not cheap) I also want to get a copy of Bey Logan's book (I will at some point) Thanks fella I appreciate it 👍
I read unsettled matters many years ago, can’t remember many of the details now but I do remember it being very negative. Basically anything negative about Bruce all in one book. Can’t help but think bleecker only married Linda to get access to all his stuff for a couple of years. No real evidence for his clams. He’s put out vids on Bruce on RUclips he seems like an odd guy. But would love to hear your thoughts on the book after you have read it
Be cautious about Tom Bleeker, he makes a lot of silly assumptions in that book. It has been widely discredited by people. He makes the confusion between corticosteroids and anabolic steroids in that book. Confusing Bruce’s corticosteroid injections for his back injury, with anabolic steroids. Corticosteroids being used to treat inflammation.
If you read the book, then the confusion is yours. In that book, I talked about Bruce's use of both corticosteroids and anabolic steroids (as others who personally knew Bruce). I didn't confuse the two.
@@TomBleecker Bruce Lee never took anabolic steroids. There is no evidence whatsoever, and if he did, what were the supposed compounds he used? How long were his cycles? Who are the supposed people who knew? Because as someone who knows more than the average person about anabolics steroids, physically speaking, Bruce never once looked like he was on steroids of any kind.
I had an old copy of the Tom Bleecker book. Sold it to another collector several years ago for a rather high price. I didn't particularly like the book. I felt it had a lot of false information in it.
As I mentioned in my above post, if there was any false information that qualified for libel or slander, I would have been sued. Second, you may have heard of my $25,000 challenge in which I offered to pay $25,000 to anyone who could prove the falsity of any statement made in my book. None ever took me up on my offer.
Tom got a lot of hate from the fanboys at the time because he dared to say Saint Bruce was abusing drugs 😱 There is some good stuff in the book especially about the rights to the films. Don’t think you’ll find that info anywhere else. Tom posted some good audio interviews on RUclips which are definitely worth a listen. I’ve very little time for the stuff Shannon puts out. And what’s with Tony Hawks being included in the book 🤦 From your first look Stripey it might be worth a pick up when cheaper. Some good pics in there let us know about the text. Hope you had a good birthday buddy. You certainly got the Bruce goodies 📚
As an aside, in my book, which was published in 1996, I received a lot of flak for stating that Bobby Baker was Bruce's drug dealer. Nearly three decades later, when those drug letters went public, it turned out I was correct.
@@30plusfitnesstv I was initially asked to participate in the Bruce Lee episode of the TV show "Autopsy." After several telephone conversations with the producers, who were located in England, I eventually respectfully declined for a couple of key reasons. When the show aired, I wasn't surprised that Dr. Richard Hunter, the show's M.E., agreed with one of my two theories that Bruce's edema was caused by kidney failure brought on by his abuse of cortisone. Years later, I wondered if Dr. Hunter would have come to a different conclusion had he known about Bruce's heavy cocaine abuse, which is known to cause brain edema.
@@TomBleecker I recently watched ‘History's Greatest Mysteries’ I don’t see any of the Lee family in a rush to revisit Bruce’s death now the Bob Baker letters are out there. Do you have sense that Linda would have told Shannon the truth about their drug misuse in Hong Kong before Bruce’s death?
@@30plusfitnesstv I doubt it. Linda has always been a very positive person. As you most likely recall, when initially asked how she felt Bruce had died, she commented that she preferred talking about how he lived. Perhaps ironically, in the ensuing years, it would come to light that how Bruce lived impacted how he died.
I'm hearing that the photos from the In Process book can be found online and Jesus Bajo site. I was still considering the book since I prefer photos in a book format rather then going online.
I am completely disappointed with "In My Own Process." First and foremost, the picture quality on many of the photos is horrible. Awful. The "dull" paper stock kills the contrast and brightness and clarity of every photo. Plus, as I was told by a rep of Genesis Publications, that they do NOT "correct" photos in photoshop or any photo program. "For historic integrity." I was told. This is quite simply BS. Every photo SHOULD have been carefully adjusted, for color, contrast, clarity, exposure, gamma and any and all levels. I ordered my "collector copy" that was supposed to ship over a YEAR ago, and it has been delayed again. Seeing as the "retail" copy was released before the copy I paid $300 bucks for, kinda irritates me. And now having SEEN the book, it irritates me even more. This book is frankly NOT WORTH THE WAIT. I have a few other Genesis books, and have seen others, and they were all top notch. For $40 bucks retail copy... its hardly worth it. For HARDCORE collectors only. This Bruce Lee book is a HUGE misfire and far from "essential."
Thanks for the shoutout. If you haven't seen any of them, I have 14 Bruce Lee videos uploaded on my RUclips channel that many of Bruce's followers have enjoyed. Cheers ruclips.net/video/31ypiWAbNXA/видео.html

Brilliant review stripey, lovely books.
Hi Stripey, great video as usual.
Ive ordered In My Own Process, mine doesn't arrive until June as I wanted the signatures,Tony Hawk aside.
I actually contacted Genesis who publish the book, commenting on the unimpressed reviews on Amazon, their reply was that they never intended to 'photoshop' any of the photographs as they want to keep them as historical documents and in keeping of the time they were taken😊
I'm really excited for mine though.
@@StripeyR No apologies needed Stripey☺️
Really looking forward to owning In My Own Process, it's been a long wait I ordered it at the end of last year.
I may get Tom Bleeker's book but wanted here your take on it first👍
Thank you and have a great weekend yourself 😊✌️
Too bad.
Thanks for the video
What is the poster on your tee-shirt in this video ?
My pleasure. The poster on my T-Shirt is The Final Game of Death 👍
@@StripeyR Is it an homemade T-Shirt ?
Thank you Stripey.
As always, mate 👍
Hi Stripey, thanks for your videos. I got the 'In My Own Process' book in Waterstones, I quite liked it. PS. Are u going to Gilmour's upcoming concert at the RAH? ;)
Also, have you heard about Abbas Alizada ?, he's a Bruce Lee lookalike, he's also in an upcoming movie called 'Bloodline' thought you'd like to know ;)
Thanks fella. I don't know about Gilmour's concert (I'll check it out)
I have seen Abbas, he looks very much like Bruce (it's uncanny) I didn't know about Bloodline, so thanks for letting me know 👍
I got the book - In my own process this week.
Tom has commented on this video, mate. I also am subscribed to his RUclips channel. I can't comment on his book yet but I'm intrigued.
Cheers bud 👍
I mentioned this in my own process book to you a few weeks ago, I mentioned it in my community post. I think I tagged you in it.
Anything new with Bruce is good in my opinion.
Thanks for mentioning the 50th anniversary enter the dragon companion book. I wasn’t aware of that.
Yes, I think you did tag me in your post.
My first impression is great, I've only flicked through it so far.
The ETD book is by Carl Fox, who does the KFM books. I'm looking forward to digging into it. Cheers bud 👍
@@StripeyR awesome 👍🏻 thanks for letting me know. The book, in my opinion, is high quality. I’ve only flicked through it myself.
Great video Stripey
On the Tom Bleeker book - Tom has his own RUclips channel. Definitely worth a search and a listen to the Bruce Lee antidotes
The last book In my Own Process I was thinking of getting that and to be honest it looks decent from your preview
*** Ah edit … just seen Tom himself has commented
Thank you. In My Own Process is a nice looking book & worth getting (I've not read it yet tho)
I subscribe to Tom Bleeker & yes he's made a few comments on this video (I'm quite surprised)
👍
That “In My Own Process” book looks good might have to put that one on the birthday list! The Bleeker book is an interesting read for sure. Would be nice if you did a full review of that one at some point, since now we know about BL’s drug use as confirmed by the recent Baker letters. Cheers. 👍
Agreed. I think I will review Tom's book once I have read it.
Cheers 👍
This is from Tom Bleeker book. You just have to judge for yourself.
"As a
result of having temporarily discontinued his use of
anabolic steroids, which he did not resume until December
1972 in preparation for Enter the Dragon in January 1973,
Bruce had again shed nearly twenty pounds of muscle, and
his face looked gaunt and pale. To many, the sight of
Bruce wearing a washed-out yellow jumpsuit that hung on
his frail body like a wet dish rag was heartbreaking. It was
hardly coincidental that Game of Death was the only film
starring Bruce Lee in which he did not appear bare-
chested. As to his performance, the spark that had
previously ignited a dynamic explosion of energy was
poignantly absent, and in the scenes with his protege Dan
Inosanto, the two men appeared evenly matched."
First of all, Dan and Bruce were never “evenly matched” have we seen the same movie? Bruce’s movement is superior in every way to Dan’s,
Second of all, you, nor Tom, can name the steroids, or the people who claim he took them.
Cheers Pal 👍

Please, would you kindly review the Enter the Dragon companion book, I’m extremely fascinated. Does it have a lot of quality pictures?
Thank you 👍
Closing in on 30K subscribers Stripey… 👀
The reviews on Amazon about the In My Own Process book are quite negative so I was going to think twice about getting it. But your showing of it has made me feel better about getting it. So, my wallet isn't about to like me in a minute.
The reviews weren't good on Amazon but the book is actually very nice. Aplogies to your wallet 😉
Cheers 👍
@@StripeyR I look forward to your comments on both of these books. Cheers
Steve Kerridge is one of my favs (but they're not cheap) I also want to get a copy of Bey Logan's book (I will at some point)
Thanks fella I appreciate it 👍
Think Bleeker just got some unfinished matters with Bruce a likes to drags Bruces name through the mud , or maybe just a grip with Linda
Nothing new, same photos. Bruce Lee, a life, is still the best book on Bruce Lee in my opinion.
But would love to hear your thoughts on the book after you have read it
A lot of bullshit in there. Many many people have issues with it and it’s not just fans of Bruce. Even his own family and friends have issues with it.
Thanks for the heads up, pal 👍
@@StripeyRyou’re welcome
Yeah, never believed that guy from day one.
James yimm lee is in the middle, bruce to the left and Ted wong to the right

@@StripeyR Thank you so much! Love your content btw!
@@TomBleecker you certainly was Tom. Those letters were the missing pieces to the puzzle for me in regard to his death.
First!
Nice book but not special all you showed I already seen it.and yeah Jesus bajo is the man unbelievable what he haz

Okeydokey, however don't have your email (don't worry, I'm not a nutter - I'm head of Art at a SEN provider 😂👌)
I am completely disappointed with "In My Own Process."
First and foremost, the picture quality on many of the photos is horrible.
No interest!😊
