Aster, here is a quick speculation of what the "IT" Dain says, might be.
Firstly it has to do with the different cursed enemies.
    - Hilichurls don't retain their consciousness, they drop hilichurl mats. (Masks, arrows, etc.)
    - The new Knight enemies also didn't retain their consciousness, they drop the new Statuette materials.
The difference between them and all the other cursed enemies that retained their consciousness (Abyss Mages, Heralds, Lecters) is they all drop pieces or branches of the Leylines (The Leyline Tree)
Abyss Mages drop the Ley line Sprout, Dead Ley line leaves, and branch. Same is said for the Lecters and Heralds.
However Lecters and Heralds also drop the Statuette materials. This link the Heralds and Lecters to being from Khanaeriah like the Knights but also are gifted or modified with the leyline branches to help retain their consciousness.
So in all this I think the "It" Dain is referring to is a Part of the Leyline Tree.
Dain is also known to be the Bough Keeper after all, so he might have a living branch of the Leyline tree in his possession that negates the curse and help him retain his consciousness for 500+ years.

I must say that the chasm made something clear. Heralds, lectors and probably anyone from the abyss order are NOT the result of the curse. They are the result of abyssal corruption. If they were also the result of the curse they would also be hurt by the device that tried to remove it.

    • @Saya-ng1sl
      @Saya-ng1sl 2 года назад +94

Or we can also say that the abyssal corruption helps to overcome the erosion of the immortality curse, like a fight poison with poison kinda thing

    • @CrossShade8144
      @CrossShade8144 2 года назад +69

@@Saya-ng1sl another thing that makes think as the abyss and hilichurls having 2 completly different type of corruption on them are :
      1. The words of the abyss herald. He says that Dain corruption is familiar to him, but that doesn't mean it's the same. And the fact that afterwards he says that Dain is a danger like him, but he is from outside the abyss order, can imply that the curse is similar to the abyssal corruption, but not exactly.
      2. Also, during the flashback of Lumine with the abyss herald, they keep saying they will free the people of Khaenri'ah from the curse, but they never refer to themeselfs as needing it.
      3. Finally, Dain keep saying he is the only one that kept conscious, while being cursed. He keep saying that the abyss order doesn't understand the curse, that no one does better than him, because he lives through it while being conscious. Dain heavily suggests that the abyss order is something else, from the curse of the gods.
And kinda make sense, since the celestial power of the gods and the abyssal power seem to be polar opposites.

So it might be possible Kaeya has something similar, though I wouldn't go as far as to think he was present 500 years ago, rather, it's more probable that his father is the one cursed, and perhaps Kaeya is more "normal" and has inherited something from him.
One thing that is very suss is that both Dain and Kaeya have the same eye "covered", so that might be a clue(??)

The thing that caught my eye in the Archon quest was when Dainseif Blurted out the word "Erosion".
So far, we have been introduced to it as a phenomenon affecting lived beings like Archons and Vishaps.
But now, could the Erosion be a Curse that was placed on all long living beings of Teyvat by Celestia as a means of control. To prevent them of being powerful enough to overthrow Celestia hench Tsaritsa Collecting Gnosis because it's the only way for her to gain the power needed before erosion overtakes her?
That the Hilichurls are being Eroded away as a result of being immortal but the fact they are people means 500 years destroys most of them compared to Archons who might take Thousands of years to be ground down?

Since they weren't affected by the light produced by abyss (curse weakening machine )
I bet the tree protects them from erosion
So the cryo archon is trying to collect the seven gnosis (light produced by rainbow) so she won't be eroded

  • @harmonialarts

I'm convinced at this point that Sal Vindagnyr, Enkanomiya, The Tsurumi underground Ruins, Khaenri'ah and the Nameless Ruins were all what remained of the singular ancient civilization founded by the Primordial One as referenced in Before sun and moon. But after they disappeared their civilization collapsed, got divided, and were forced underground/ flipped underground. Or straight up destroyed.
Since many of these places were "hidden from the eyes of the gods", this was probably the primordial one's last line of defence for their people. Some survived for as long as they could like Khaenri'ah and Enkanomiya, while others got destroyed by this wierd orb thing with a triskellion and a big ass pillar from the sky.
And even though the Abyss Order and the Fatui have the same goal of fucking up celestia, it seems that the Abyss Order also wants to get rid of the seven nations to make room for Khaenri'ah and that's not something they can compromise on unfortunately. Its heavily implied that Khaenri'ah did shoot first by initiating the dark calamity on Teyvat, but it seems like it back fired on them because the Abyss element/entity thing has a mind of its own. It is decribed to be a corruptive energy that makes most brings more violent.

Definitely believe Khaenri’ah shot first. They had ruin guards/were doing sketchy stuff since before the end of the archon war (see attempted book theft in enkonomia) but Celestia left them alone for 1500+ years until the Cataclysm. Why? Because the royals/nobles/alchemists/whoever was in charge messed with something they shouldn’t have. I believe that’s the faction that became the Abyss order and the reason Dainsleif opposes them and not Celestia is because even though Celestia unfairly wiped out the whole of Khaenri’ah (both the guilty party and the innocent civilians) at the end of the day they shot first. And now they want to wipe out not just Celestia, but the whole of teyvat; both the guilty party and the innocent.

I found Katheryne to be EXTREMELY SUS this time. Not the pulling fortune slip thing because the Katheryne's could be a hive mind as well.... It's that Katheryne KNOW's what is in the Chasm.... And she's the only one we meet that dose.
Katheryne remembers that the abyss is connected to the Chasm. But one on the site is aware of this. The Liyue explorations teams desnn't know. The Treasure Hoards are clueless. AND even the Notes the Fatiu left behind while also exploring the chams shows them to not be aware of what powers are in play down there. So that leaves only Zhongli and the Adepti that sealed that part of the chasm away aware of the "Nail" sleeping there ... SO how the hell does Katheryne have this knowledge and not share it with anyone but the Traveller.
Also, the fact the Khaenri'ah was built up from the ruins of a "first crown" nations of humanity is very cool.

I like how Zhiqiong and the Hilichurls are literary parallels.
Others cannot force/choose what they think is best unto Zhiqiong and the Hilichurls destinies which they have already chosen for themselves
The rest of the mining team doesn't want Zhiqiong to die doing careless stuff.
However, Zhiqiong has already chosen to die trying to make herself a hero rather than to be forgotten staying safe.
The abyss sibling/abyss doesnt want the Hilichurls to "die" because of celestia.
However, the Hilichurls have already chosen to "die" rather than to suffer endless agony for the miniscule/non-existent chance of "living" normally again.
(Edit: I'm still not completely sure if the Hilichurls were "dying" or something like that and if the abyss wanted to revert them back to normal so I might have gotten some stuff on the whole "die" and "live" thing wrong)

    my theories:
    - erosion for mortal that turned into immortal is faster than immortal like gods, adepti, youkai etc. it took zhongli 6000yrs to begin feeling erosion, maybe for cursed human or human that turned into immortal the effect of erosion is much faster like in centuries.
    - the reason dains contradict himself so often is that he is no longer himself, the dainslief we know is no longer the exact same dainslief abyss sibling traveled with in the past, part of him has eroded/corrupted.
    - dains doesn't know the best about the curse, halfdan spirit showing up disprove dains' claim. besides, it is stupid to use 1 subject to make a conclusion over a curse that took over an entire citizens of khaenriah.
    - what happened to halfdan is exactly what our abyss siblings mission to "bring back the people of khaenriah", the plan isn't exactly to turn them back into human but rather turn their spirit back into human so that they can pass on as human and not monsters.

    In regards to the ruins of the chasm and enkanomiya;
They are identical in architectural design, so i think the ruins of enkanomiya weren't build -after- it sank under the sea, rather, i think they where built before it sank/before the archon war (also why they are so crooked undersea now). I think I remember one of the lore books saying enkanymoiya was part of an ancient nation that spaned the whole world, wich might mean the same nation that built the chasm ruins - and that's why they are identical. They're possibly different capitol cities of that said nation, though I don't remember enough of sal vindygnirs lore to know if its also from the same nation since it looks a little different...
(though, i think a lot of the ruins have very similair designs, like liye, old mondtstadt, andrius' arena, etc - maybe these were also from that nation, and has then been repurposed by different people through the history?)

I may know what flower the Inteyvat is based on! Since Khaenriah seem to be based on norse scandinavia, I think Its a flower called forest anemone! Its very similar to the flower that Lumine has in her hair, and funnily it can change color if you put it in water with some food dye. Gueeeess what its also called? Windflower! I read that the chinese also call it "flower of death", kinda match with the western views of it as a symbol of springs arrival and a flower of death...in greek myths anemones were created when Adonis blood mixed with Aphrodites tears. Match quite well with the Abyss Flower design theme of the twins....granted, wood anemone is a slightly different species from anemones but they do belong in the same family. Wood anemones bloom between march and may depending on where you are but they have a rather short bloom, you are very lucky if its a slightly cold spring then they can last about a month, but if unlucky they will just last 2 weeks, like the Inteyvat.

I don't think that the defilled statue was a recreational of the purification device as it was holding abyssl power if they were trying to make a purification device wouldn't it make more sense to have it hold something light related instead of abyssl ball of darkness
There's a line about the immortality curse i noticed, Dain says that when a God applies a curse it take place on a higher reality then that of the victim, branding them at the level of once fate itself. I think this immortality isn't a directly physical curse but that God's are altering the victims reality itself and thus is probably achieved by tempering with someone's fate directly through their constellations as we do know that people's fate is written in their constellations
The inteyvat might actual be death flaging lumine too as it is
    1. The national flower of khenriah representing her goal to revive the nation
    2. Dain's line about the inteyvat " when it returns to its home soil the flower's petals with soften again and then turn to dust" which might mean that Lumine will die after the revival of Khenriah in the 7th chapter or she'll sacrifice herself for the revival (because of the line about turning dust) either way before she dies the twins will have a reunion one last time 😭😭😭
I think the abyss order's attempt at purification might've partially worked as we did see Halfdan's soul disappearing in the same way the memories from Ei's quest and Stanley from Venti's quest did. I say partially because it could very well be due to Halfdan's strong will managing to save him. I do understand Dain's reluctance towards the purification is justified, on one hand they could live out their cursed life slowly eroding or suffer through hell just to die and return to the cycle of life and death ( into the layline you go)
The final Halfdan line is a bit odd as he says "did khenriah didn't fall did it, since your still here" I'm guessing that Dain was cursed before the cataclysm and khenriah was unjustly bombed. I don't remember where it's from but i do remember there being a Jean voiceline where she wants to tell us the story of "the hero king of khenriah" which is weird since the royals of khenriah are supposed to be fools who tried to take on Celestia
    Theoritical context
I think the hero king of khenriah wanted to take on Celestia due to these imortaliy curses, i think they wanted to topple the thrones of Celestia inorder to break these curses as we do know that Hillichurls existed since long before the Cataclysm, the people of khenriah must've found out the truth of the curse and since Dainsleif one of their higher ups (captain of the royal guards) was also affected by the curse he ended up being a catalyst to the whole thing. I think Rhinesottir and her connection to the abyss might've come about for either of the two reasons
    1. Since Khenriah was going against the divine they made an alliance with abyss to which Gold was acting as a mediator
    2. Gold conjuring the abyss monster on khenriah might be true just told in a different perspective
I think Gold released the abyss monster in order to stop the rampage of the Gods in Khenriah which might explain the survivors of the cataclysm, which also ended up taking the lives of the Gods like Makoto and the former Dendro Archon

In a gaming site the users already translated them all and some of them also found a real poem from Catullus which is extremely similar (probably HoYo used it as a basis).

      10. ESSEM TE MIHI AMICA QUAERITANDO
      11. CAELUM DILABITUR
      12. FALSITAS COLLABITUR
And this is the poem from Catullus with translations in several languages

Uhh this vid made me think a bit. Dain talked about the curse slowly consuming him, being a part of him but slowly but surely replacing him... This took me back to the teyvat chapter teaser trailer where dain narrates, "Defeat me, command me to step aside, prove to me that you are worthier than I of saving her". What if something happens, dain is led astray from his goals and the curse takes control of him and that's why the traveller has to fight him, to save dain from his curse and then get to the abyss twin....
EDIT: As for what he would think when he's "led astray", it would probably be something like
"I'm doing whatever I can do, no matter what. If it means stopping the abyss and saving her."
But before he would realise, the curse would've taken over him and he would be doing stuff so bad that the traveller may have to step in.
Hence the line, "Defeat me, command me to step aside. Show me that you are worthier than I of saving her."

I think the reason why Lumine would call Khaenri'ah her "homeland" is because, well, the twin's actual home got destroyed. She might have felt like Khaenri'ah was her new home after that loss.
Though it does raise a new question; why does she care more about Khaenri'ah, than her true home?

Like how for instance, on the fatui set, it mentions the "fool" and the "priests" that failed to heed them. It would make sense for the abyss lectors/heralds to be those priests, since they're very cultlike in their nature. Another interesting thing is the new material drops we're getting, especially the statuettes. When transmuted into their final form, they look an awful lot like Odin, with that missing eye.

Looking at the wiki, it seems Aether just mentioned that Lumine was wearing it in her hair, while Lumine specifically says that she's been wearing it "since [she] woke up." This could potentially have implications for when exactly she got it. There is the fact that she already has in during the opening, and the flashback in the story trailer, despite it being native to Khaenri'ah, and so she couldn't have had it before arriving regardless of which role she's in.

I think Dain means this when talking about the curse: For example, let's say It is slowly replacing the cells in your arm. At some point it's no longer your original arm, but you can't just cut it off without consequences, right? And well let's say one could live without an arm, but what if it's your heart or brain that is corrupted? It definitely can not be safely removed.

  • @rajamrifqi5764
    @rajamrifqi5764 2 года назад +3

I personally didn't think that what dainsleif says about the curse being a lifeline hunkering them down to the mortal plane and the curse itself eroding their very being is contradictory
If you look at the lore of shadow husk it is said that "Once upon a time, these were knights of the realm and carriers of significant status. The long years and a curse seems to have robbed them of their reason and memory. Now, all that remains within that armor is the will to "fight for something, someone, and some matter."
So to me it seems like shadowy husk are more akin to living armor than transformed creatures(they could've started as a transformed creature but the erosion melts their mortal body over time), consider Alphonse from full metal alchemist and the curse of immortality as the sigil that Edward painted to tether Alphonse soul to the mortal realm
And by extension this might mean that hilichurls are just a walking hunk of flesh motorized by the memories of their past life

    • @rajamrifqi5764
      @rajamrifqi5764 2 года назад +2

So when dain said that removing the curse is similar to removing a part of your body in the context of the shadowy husk is the same is removing yourself from reality since they are just living armor with no physical body
And for hilichurls imagine if the erosion eats away at your organ and replaces them with not-organ basically making you dependant on the curse to survive
And the spreading of the curse in your body might be similar to cancer cells in real life or honkai infection if you read honkai

Personally what struck me the most during this quest was Dain's line of being corrupted on the higher plane of being than you exist. If Celestia comes from another world it would make sense that their power is inherently alien to the people of Teyvat and since the twins are also from another world wouldn't it mean that technically they could have similar power? The Traveler has already purified corruption from Dvalin's Tear in the very first archon quest. I think this power is going to come back and the twins or just the Abyssal Twin will eventually purify Khaenri'ah with this power.

      Abyssal twin will die.
      Remember the flower Inteyvat?
It becomes soft and wither soon after.
Abyssal Sibling will revived the homeland. Purify it and die in our hand.
Then we will be given a choice.
Sacrifice Paimon and save our siblings or let them pass away.

Is super interesting to know the many ways the curse affected people involved in the cataclysm we already knew hilichurl and abyss mages used to be people but now is confirmed that a grand mayority of mobs were victims of the cataclysm
And you do understand why the abyss sibling and Dain drifted, as he himself said the Khaenrian people didn't fall they transformed into something else with Dain being the only known person that still looks human unlike the rest of the victims, this follows the idea of something losing value because is broken when a lot of times it does maintain value but not everyone is able to appreciate the new meaning something broken had gain
It seems like a tricky situation because it looks like the abyss sibling is doing the right thing and it is right if you yourself believe a broken thing has no longer worth, Lumine herself s capable of realising this thinking is wrong with a little push of her brother that unlike her is not being blinded by the trauma of having survived the cataclysm
Before knowing the hilichurl were people we were first taught of their culture and language, losing that trying to recover what they used to be is sadder than knowing their past

It's not so much the matter of redemption that plays a part in Aether's conviction, but the matter of personal freedom and the right of an individual to make a choice for themselves. You could twist it to say that Aether is redeeming the actions of Lumine, if you wish to solidify the "heroes are redemptive" trope.
Ultimately, I think the sustainer of heavenly principles aka Celestia is the true boss and Lumine will join us to fight against her. Once we beat the Tsaritsa and show her that our way of doing things and power is superior to hers, I don't doubt she will align with us, too.

The Abyss Order is also often described as enemies of humanity, which is like... the opposite of the Tsaritsa's ideals (if the Fatui uphold those ideals is a different question)

eh, i think because the Chasm's world quest involving Zhiqiong and the company was supposed to be before we get to Inazuma since the requirements to access it is just need to complete Liyue's archon quest. and during that world quest, mining in the Chasm was still prohibited. only people doing research were able to enter with permission like Zhiqiong and her team.
while during the dain archon quest, the Qixing actually permit the people to able to mine in the Chasm again. again, this just my own understanding of the dialogue. when paimon asked, "Chasm is not sealed off anymore?" for me it means that the Qixing no longer sealed Chasm for miners/regular people again. and since the one that commission the quest to Katheryne was a miner as well.

Imo Katheryne doesn't travel to Inazuma via waypoint. Each Katheryne from different region r connected to each other in some ways.
Simply put, what Katheryne does, sees and experiences will also be shared to other Katheryne(s).
That's why Liyue Katheryne talked as if she went to Inazuma and visited the shrine.

It is said that the Cataclysm happened because of Gold sending her creations to Teyvat thus causing destruction.
This made the archons fight in retaliation and even losing so much that victory doesn't even taste as sweet as it should have been (Ei losing her sister and Dvalin getting poisoned are examples of it)
But it is only Gold's creation right? I mean the ruin guards only went on separate ways when there was no longer anyone responsible in controlling them. I also never heard or read of Khaenriah's people itself causing attack to the other nation's citizens.
Dainsleif's lines always pertains to "protecting" Khaenriah which could point that the nation didn't actually meant to attack Teyvat thus them receiving the archon's wrath pushes them on defence instead of offence. Back then there were outside forces causing harm to Khaenriah's citizens which makes the guards, specifically Dainsleif, focus on protecting and escaping the people. There was no time to attack.
Which makes me think. What if Khaenriah was just included in that war accidentally? What if it was only gold who wanted her creation sent to Teyvat but not the whole of Khaenriah itself?
We all know that Celestia is already included in Khaenriah's destruction which tells me that they (Khaenriah) probably WOULD have opposed the heavenly principles but what if Khaenriah didn't meant for it to happen that fast? What if they weren't ready yet? What if it happened prematurely thus leaving them unprepared. Khaenriahn are intelligent people. They know the art of Khemia. They know that no matter how powerful they could be, a god is A god. It is very much unwise to see themselves superior.
I myself won't put it past Celestia to use that time of destruction and chaos to use their archons to destroy a possible threat to their throne.
After all, why not eliminate something before it grows into something powerful enough to over throw them?
So before Khaenriah could even grow into something more powerful, Celestia found the perfect opportunity and reason to destroy the Nation without making themselves look half as evil by connecting them to Gold's creation.
It's like killing two birds with one stone. Stop gold and destroy a powerful nation.
I.. well that's my theory lol.
Please if you don't agree then that's okay! I would definitely want to hear your thoughts in the matter. If there are errors also please tell me so that I would know. Thank you!

Gives us a lot of info on the Fatui footsoldiers' mindsets-- but they all seem to believe that the Cataclysm never truly ended and remains an ongoing threat. While Abyss Order prioritizes attacking the Heavenly Principles and restoring Khaenri'ah, Fatui seem to be prioritizing attacking the Heavenly Principles AND the Abyssal Corruption.

Spoiler ahead, from the manga and Mona voice lines
I wonder what this means for Kaeya, wasn't he a spy send by his father from Kanrya to Mondstradt?
That's interesting , it would mean that either 1) he was send away 500 years ago before or during the fall, or 2) Kanrya people still live amongst others in present day, despite the curse, and they are preparing something that required him to become a spy at the time.
I bet that's what Mona meant when she talked about Kaeya's future, maybe he'll have to choose between the abyss order (his people) or the Favonius knight.
Also, it would mean that even cursed people can get a vision OR that unlike his people, Kaeya escaped the curse somehow.
