Bought a Fabia brand new a decade ago and it is still rolling, but this does look better in every single way. Let me tell you placing an order for a new car in your early 20s is loads of fun, I remember getting a question from the elderly salesman "alrite but you do got a job, son?". Clearly the main customer base was a bit older back then lol
Super review. Excellent picture and sound quality and love the details in review. Left nothing out. Can't get over boot size. I started driving in Toyota starlet 1.3xli... tin box. What is available now in 1ltr range, spec, safety and comfort is unreal. Wish I had that choice in my early 20's.
Nobby out on his own for car reviews in Ireland now. One slight suggestion might be a further light of some sort to make some areas a little brighter to watch. 10/10 for the review today.
Great review. Hard to do this while away from home. Would have loved an EV version in this segment to rival the Zoe. We won’t see that colour in Ireland at all! Interior is spot on.. big screens but lots of buttons.
Looks great - we have a Kamiq which has been great (so far) next time we may look at another Skoda (perhaps a Fabia) in a 1.5 trim - if that’s what is going to be available in Australia. Great informative content , looking forward to seeing more in the future.
As ever, good review, Nobby. Just hard to beat Skoda for space and practicality - and the Combi will knock that out of the park next year. More “planet-friendly” than a SUV/CUV, and more space than many of the smaller ones.
Great review - the new Fabia looks great. I own a Mk3 and had a Mk2 before it. This looks like another step change. I'm in a contract until 2023 but I'm sure I'll be getting an email from my dealer before then!
Having just watched your video, yours goes into more depth than Bob's (don't tell him I said that! 😁) I have to say like I said to him it's an impressive wee car tho' it needs a diesel option which I know it won't get. I don't like those alloys I prefer the standard silver ones, I think there's a kodiaq with a bigger version of those black allots on and tho'I know it's for aerodynamics they just look awful, they look like wheel trims! Anyhow keep up the good work!
Had two MK I Fabias in the past, currently have a 2014 Octavia 2.0 Diesel. IF Skoda made a VRS/RS Version, then I'd be interested in at least test driving the new Fabia, but I don't think they will so I'll be looking at another brand from the VAG group, or a BMW 1 series for my next car. I need a car with some GO and would like a sporty look too!
@@allenthomas5000 Not a bad suggestion, but I'm not that keen on the new shark nose front end of the new Focus and Seat Leon, and I've never been a fan of Ford interiors. What with so many new VAG cars now having capacitive touch controls everywhere, I'm leaning more towards Audi these days, but of course Audi's are not cheap! I quite like the Cupra Formentor, but still... Capacitive touch, Uhh!! I'm hard to please LOL!!
Onwards and upwards. Skoda are now producing cars which stand comparison with any others at the same price point. It has also been said that Skoda quality now even occasionally tops VW's...........
It was nice to see you in my country. As for the new Fabia, it ticks lots of boxes for young families. Thankfully, room in the rear seems to have grown a bit. Are the Czechs going to discontinue the Scala?
The Scala does seem a bit lost in the lineup … though it looks good. The new Fabia Combi will be out next year, and that should certainly make the Scala redundant. The current Fabia Combi made the old Rapid a questionable choice. Interesting to see what happens.
I saw quite a few Scala models in Poland actually but out of all the line up, it's not the best seller for sure. Is that because the Octavia is too good and close in price, not sure.
@@NobbyOnCars Yeah - it’s overlapping the Octavia at the upper end, and Fabia Combi at lower end. Dealer that about the Rapid a few years ago - that customers ( in Dublin anyway) were choosing Fabia Combi instead of Rapid Spaceback - not sure if Scala is suffering a bit from Rapid reputation of cheap/not that well built, even though Scala is a world away from Rapid in how it’s put together. New Fabia with MQB-A0 will just be so far ahead of Scala then.
Update - on Marek’s review ( Marek Drives) … he flashed up an on-screen message that Skoda had announced, the day after his review, that they would now *not* be doing the Combi next year. So, Combi is gone it seems, which will leave a stronger case for Scala, I’d guess. ruclips.net/video/sbRaZ77zOEA/видео.html @4:24
Great review. Beautiful car. Competition on price for the Focus? Was never a fan of the old model Fabia. It looked too much like Skoda of old and lacking quality of its Octavia big brother so wonder if Skoda considered calling this new one a different name. If it makes these shores at sub 20k there'll be a stampede. At 150 ps on the 1.5 do you really need an RS version. Just a few thoughts.
I’d imagine the entry one will be €18500-19,000. Totally guesswork though! It’s quite a bit bigger than the old model so while it’s not Golf / Focus sized in the boot etc it’s not far off
Skoda seems to have a design team for each section car, exterior, interior and complete different team for the boot and then one to just come up with storage ideas
@@NobbyOnCars and it pays off, other manufacturers could learn a lesson from them, I seen some cars have nice cockpit but then everything else is "that will do" attitude and cheapens whole car

I have a 2018 Fabia Monte Carlo and, whilst the new model looks nice, it's not different enough to tempt me away. Great review as always!

New Fabia is , I think , the best looking small car . What is the point of the still fairly new Scala ?
That's for those who want something like fabia combi (which wont happen)
The new Scala and Octavia looks ridiculous compared to this. Awesome, sexy and sporty.

You’d be surprised how many Skoda vids I’ve made that end up being viewed in India. It’s pretty cool from my perspective. Thanks for watching 🇮🇳
Gorgeous. Gives me a corsa vibe. What's gonna happen with the Scala?
I would imagine if German and UK sales are ok, it may continue but 🤷🏼♂️
@@NobbyOnCars yh. If this one is longer what would the use of scala be? But then again audi, seat, vw have got similar models.
