Wedging it into the garage because HOA threw a fit. That is dedication, determintation and problem solving skills that I admire.
😆It was tight, especially getting it back out as it needed heady duty casters to handle the weight. I can’t believe we actually did all of that 😆
Ditch the house
HOA's have way too much authority and control on ones property. People that run these are those who were picked on at school, hence why I would never buy property in a HOA estate.
@@glennmurray4034 they really are insult to overreach. The govt, then the state, now let’s add an HOA! Those neighborhoods where every house is identical. **shudders**
HOA are control freaks.
In about 1993 my then 18 year old son bought a trailer that was set up just like that, even the outside looked about the same. Seems to me that it did have an awning in the front that closed. It was 25 years old and could have used some work but he only had it for a couple years and sold it for $1000. Which was 200 more than he bought it for. Those were the days! I wish we had thought of something like this. Now that we're retired that would be awesome! My husband is an electrician, and very handy so I'm sure he could have done something like this. If all those upgrades were available back then. At the time he said "It's too heavy! I don't want to tow that! "
Silly kids!! 🙃🤪
I absolutely love this! You did an excellent job! ❤ 👏 👍
Plenty of vintage trailers out there in need of some love.
Beautiful! I lived in a ‘72 Boles Aero for 18 months when I moved back to AZ from Cali. Got it for $800 from a guy that lived in Riverside. It was built so well! Wish I still had it. This build makes me really miss it!
Quintessential Florida vibe from the jalousie windows to the aquatic-teal band that surrounds the entire home.
Classy chassis'..
For your Berkey you can use a strap and magnet combo and secure it to the fridge. Top and bottom straps.
I think most strap them with velcro or bungee cords to the wall. I agree about they should make a screw down base and wall because nearly all campers use them, probably more than households.
The color white and teal is spot on retro.
Better than the gold it had 😆 thanks!
Oh my goodness, you CAN make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear!! You created a beautiful thing from nothing!! How creative and innovative you are!
😆 thank you!
Nice buildout of a vintage trailer!
Thank you!
For less money than an Airstream you can sometimes pick up a trailer that was called the Silver Streak. they were also known for their reliability.
My biggest complaint on any #vanlife and other small units is the 2nd sink that takes up needed space in a wet bath. For those who complain about washing poopy hands in a kitchen sink, get real. you prepare raw meats in this area and are perfectly comfortable with using bleach or whatever you use to to get rid of the nasty germs. You can do the same after washing poopy hands if that bothers you.
Agreed! The only issue I have with one sink is if the dirty dishes pile up from dinner and I have to shave my head… that’s just life and crappy planning but it does happen.
I really love the trailer and all of the modifications.
I showed this video to the manager of my RV Resort. I asked him if they would allow this RV. He said no because it is too old.
I was wondering about that. What is their point? It's all new and not ugly. It's safer being rewired that the newer factory built crap. Just a bunch of snobs I guess who want to flaunt their wealth with their expensive junk.
So nice!! Love it!
Smart on the one sink & the solid underbelly!
And 15 miles from your home to find it....Providence!
We got lucky in finding it! Thanks!
Your electrical system is truly a work of art.Something I'd be proud to call my own, Bravo.
Thank you! Got some history in wiring 😆
The front electrical compartment is a thing of beauty! I love the clean layout.
Thank you!
It’s gorgeous! I can’t remember ever being so floored by an electrical cabinet. Ever. I don’t know an adjective strong enough to use to express my admiration.
Who designed/worked on your electrical system? It is very impressive.
@@juliae.2120 Magnificent works pretty good.
Grew up building and repairing RVs of all kinds. Serial number the date it was completed. We built ROSSCRAFT travel trailers , campers, motorhomes, and wood frame truck caps.
That’s awesome!
Love this. Really love that there is no propane and it's all electric.
There is nothing wrong with propane. I use it to heat my water at home. Not even a permanent install. I ran hoses outside the laundry window beside the window AC. I don't use hot water to wash clothes so that's my hot water connection to the house the cold water is a Y connector to the washing machine and hot water heater. Simple but I have hot water when I need it. About a month and a half on one 15 lb tank. If I run out I can also use a one pound can. Until I refill the tank. 73
Two sinks are important to prevent cross contamination. This from an old school RN. I really could not handle washing my dishes, prepping veggies etc in the sink used to wash hands after using the bathroom. I love your work that you have done otherwise. Not at all meaning to be snarky about my comment, but one can become quite ill this way.
What a gem!!! Beautifully done...
Thanks!
I like those windows too. You can keep them open when it rains unless its windy. My dad installed them on our front porch on our cottage he built. I sure miss that cottage. 2 bedroom living room one bath and kitchen then dad bult a utility room on one end of the porch. Mom had plenty of storage for pantry items. Washer and dryer and hot water tank. Even a place for a toilet but never finished. We rented the cottage out over 10 years until mom told the tennats they had to move. Then we sold the cottage. 73
Super tidy electrical, weight up front, close to the main load with the option of a second plug for generator. Really well thought out.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! When designing the floor plan, I needed to figure out how to balance the weight of the rear bedroom and the rear storage door.
There is a good 400lbs in the electrical, so upfront, under the windows, was the best spot I could think of.
I love the old travel trailers. They just have so much character and class. They were more like a work of art back in the day. They real paid attention to details down to the shapes with lots of curves and unique designs. Now days they are made cheap with no style everything is a box. Old travel trailers are just Cool you can't say that about the new travel trailers RVs motorhomes.
I rather have a old travel trailer over new one and a old diy Skoolie over a new motorhome. I would take a oldie over a newbie any day...
Love this Travel Trailer he did a great job on the build its a lovely traveler....
😊👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏
Thank you!
My dad's friend had that and dad had a Shasta. The blue color was original. The Shasta was gold.
The new RVS, travel trailers & toy haulers are built cheap & ugly as Hell!! No character & way too expensive. I absolutely have a great appreciation for the older models & they built them with real wood
I agree, the way the shut down came, everyone bought a travel vehicle, motorhome, travel travelers… u know the story, the manufacturer couldn’t keep up, so made cheaper. Such a shame.
Love the door shade… very cool for the breeze… you do great work…
Wonderful video, wish you and your friend and your families could have met my parents. Our Dad was one of the pioneers of NASA from 1953 to 1993 and our Mom was a school teacher. We traveled across the USA towing our 1972 Pop Up Skamper RV Trailer it slept up to 7 of us. We went all over the USA in the Summers camping
Hay Day of NASA!
Seven in a Pop-Up 😳
Thank you for sharing!/..an outstanding creation! I see you guys were very close to us here in Savannah Georgia USA you must stop in next time you're here at Tybee island we have an amazing campground and community u would adore & y'all would truly fit right in ❣️
🛐💟☮️✝️🌈😇❤️⚡🇱🇷
Wow that's a beautiful RV. They did an amazing job. You know I'm going to check out their channel. He seems like a great person to know and funny too.
Thanks! Come on over! I don’t guarantee the funny part but will try 😆
You may already know this you need to cover up the split unit when your Towing. If the fan spins while you're Towing the camper you could burn the fan out and damage the unit
We initially had a cover on the front while towing then I drove a bit more into the unit and it’s a free spinning clutch. We don’t run it while driving so the fan can spin freely.
Hi Brian! Video on Home Meets Road! Dan did a great job of rebuilding this vintage Rv. Very nice home. I love vintage. Nice he did electric. No propane. Very nice vintage home! 👍👍
Thank you!
My grandpa had something like that …..so cool vintage!
Mine too !
This is the coolest and most practical vintage trailer renovation I've seen to date. Awesome and well done!
Wow! Thanks for the huge compliment!
How much money did it take to remodel! Amazing transformation.
1972, a piece of history no more. Why on earth would you buy a vintage trailer and decorate it like a 2022 track home? Very disappointing.
So happy to see your channel
I have a 1969 Boles Aero and I love it
Your renovation is beautiful
Nice! What length?
@@HomeMeetsRoad it’s 27 ft
Still silver and gold
I hardly could believe this restored camper is 51 years old, considering it was forward thinking ,even to this day the space you got with it is just incredible,am mean holy cow😁
Beautiful revival of a trailer that was left for dead.
I once lived in a brand new 41ft fifth wheel toy hauler by myself and felt cramped. I couldn’t imagine three people in that thing, especially one being a child!
😆 yea, we need more room!!!
What a fabulous creation, You are the Genius of all times! So many smart designs in your home, Thanks for Sharing!
Thank you! Half the time it feels like I made bad decisions left and right but it has been a good home for the past two years.
@@HomeMeetsRoad f
Brilliant solution for the screen door! Gorgeous camper! This man can do every system neatly with such style!
Thank you for the compliment!
Love the backsplash!
It’s stick on.
We love seeing the vintage RVs! Thanks for sharing! ~ Shion and Matthew
My favorite part is the small area with the sink and the window above the sink. It just looks so cozy.
Beautiful!!! It takes me back to my precious memories of camping with my Granny and Paw. Of course it was the 70's and a wonderful time. I sure wish I could find a camper like this. You guys put a lot of back-breaking work into this beauty, but you have something I'd much prefer to the newer models of today... character. Enjoy making those sweet memories.
Very interesting! I love that you told us what worked well and what didn’t. Wow, you really are nomads.
Thanks!
This is the trailer I wouldn't mind parking on my RV friendly property. Hopefully in Florida. I seen trailers like this in old RV trailer parks or house trailer parks. 73
I like those clock time zone... hell! I love everything in that rv!
It helps considering work is always in a different time zone… well so are we 😆
You weren't kidding .
Pretty great. 🌷
Thank you!
Thank you Brian for showing this vintage home.
Yes! I totally agree with the solution of the one sink! Nicely done!
Thanks!
So. We have a 63 Boles Aero Princess. 24ftr with original 1in mahogany wood cabinetry throughout. I restored her, but we did not have to change the interior much. Although she did need the interior addressed. The prior owner did remove the clear coat, which allowed me to polish her. I may post a video to show the results. We are going on our 6 year of ownership and like everyone else, have slowly sunk money into the improvements. Very well made trailer and shows her patina proudly!
I just love it. My first rig was a 69 mallard. Yours looks great
Thank you!
I love the interior of my Rockwood by forest river, with a slide kitchen. Roomy and has a full bed to sleep 6, with the seat conversions.
Berkey is great cuz it doesn’t require power and you can put lake/river water in it.
I have to concour about the black/grey tank thing. My View had a pretty easy to reach system and I got used to it in about a month
DAMN! That is one well laid out electrical system. This gentleman could have a career in RV power solutions
As much as I disliked camping in my Winnebago View, I have to say it was easy to live with and very uncomfortable to sleep in.
Thank you! I have some background in electrical layouts but I still screwed up here and there. Hindsight is always 20/20.
My jaw dropped when the electrical area was opened. 😲 Wow. So neat. So fancy. 😍
That’s about all I know how to do 😆
@@HomeMeetsRoad that plus a super cool build. Still wow-ing. Wow.
The hot water is called continuous Hot water, some people have had three of these hooked up so they don't run out of hot water. I think Propane is a waste unless it's for heating up a place, for a stove and the refrigerator is costly. The last thing is today no one wants a wood stove??? A nice Spot Belly woodstove would keep that place nice and toasty. It's a different camper, but if you look at it, their basically all the same thing. Thanks for sharing the video with us.
We looked into a wood stove but it would have taken up too much room with the heat shields, etc…
That's a classic beaut ya got there. Love what you did with it. Gorgeous windows.
Thank you!
Job well done. 👍 I like it I like it alot. I'm a full timer but I'm stationary bc of my hound rescue. I love them 4 legged babies. Safe travels, enjoy the journey with your son and wife. He is seeing the world, what a lucky young man.
Definitely hit up the western part of the state when you come back. Whole different area! Thanks for coming and enjoying!
We were on the western part of Michigan last year and loved it!
Yeah that thing is as up-to-date as it can possibly be, what a fantastic job, especially Braxton's room, wow!
Thanks! It just got outfitted with Starlink Internet so yea, as up-to-date as my budget allows 😆
LOVE IT! You made me look good! 😆 love how you pulled all the info from Instagram! Such a great way to tie it all together.
Thanks guys! It's easy to make y'all look good 😉 Hopefully we'll see you again sooner rather than later this time around!
@@Five2Go unfortunately we will not make it to FL this fall. Got some Starships to catch in TX!
Really an amazing job on making it a home. I like how there is no propane. All electric!
Thanks!
So brilliant! I wish we had the skills to do this! My grandparents had windows like that in their camper...love them!
They are a head turner for sure. Thanks!
You can do just start slow tons of great RUclips vids .
Great remodel! Those jalousie windows brought back memories of visiting my grandparents in FL in the 1960's! I was often recruited to clean them. Do you use any type of specialized shades for them in extreme weather?
New trailers are nice but... this trailer has sooo much more personality. GREAT BUILD 👍🤌
🙏🏼
What an amazing travel trailer. Those windows! Such a clever idea with the ac.
Really fun tour. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, the windows sold us!
I really like the retro rv, it doesn't seem small with the floor plan you have. Safe and happy travels.
180 square feet. All depends on how much the 7 year old runs around 😆
What length is it?
OMG! I watched Dan before COVID. I hadn't heard anything and just checked. I was not getting notified anymore. I have had some channels that I was not even subscribed to any more. I see they have made some changes since I last saw them. I thought Braxton's moving wall to his bedroom was just awesome! Too bad it didn't work out. Thanks for featuring them! I need to do some binge watching on his channel. HUGS~Donna
Well hello there! 👋🏼😆
We love our composting toilet. We have a c-head and its really the only one I would use. I'm all about saving water
Our Natureshead has been nothing but issues. Love the water savings but it’s been a pain.
I think a RV is the way I will go also 🙂 I like the extra room a RV gives
I have a small 110 volt on demand hot water heater I bought on Amazon. constant hoe water.
Wait… WHAT! Can you post a link!!!
I like this.
This trailer is a true labor of love 👌🏾
Thank you!
I found this incredibly interesting, almost deja vu.
I lived in a trailer almost exactly like yours. It didn't have battery power. It was the same white and teal color. Same exterior except it didn't have a cover over the front window. Same crank windows. The doors were heavy and had a small window, same material as the siding.
It also had a sliding door in the main bedroom and one for the bathroom.. The entry to the small bedroom seemed to narrower than yours.
The kitchen cabinet, small range and sink was on the opposite wall.
It was parked in a mobile home park and really felt very safe and comfortable. It had a small furnace in it, no AC and it got so hot in the summer.
And like you said, never had any critters.
It was made to last.
LOVE the crank up windows and how they are arranged around the end with the dinette. Reminds me of old times at my aunt's trailer, she and my mom playing Yatze, or my sister and I playing Rummy while the adults fished nearby. Great, practical reno, whilst preserving the original style.
We call that a Caravan in New Zealand and Australia, that looks like a late 70s model.
Caravan? So are all Travel Trailers (bumper pulls) a caravan because it ‘follows’ the car?
It’s a 1972.
@@HomeMeetsRoad Yup,it's a down under thing.😉🙂
hard to believe this 1972 trailer is older then these two guys.
😆
Omg!! I am in LOVE!! So envious!! And I wouldn't say it's small. It's cozy and I love it!!
Safe and happy travels to you!!! ❤💚💙
Wow, what an amazing trailer remodel!
Thank you!
Wish I would have done this with my son when he was young! Such a cool way to start his life!
Brax helped with the build here and there. Simple things but he remembers it all.
“1971 TrailManor” listed 3 hours ago in Seguin, TX looks very much like this one!!
REALLY GREAT BUILD! CLASSIC TRAILER!
Thanks!
That RV was made the year I graduated high school. It looks great!
Super cute...I could live comfortably in it.....really great solves & finishes. 👍👍
Thanks!
Absolutely beautiful! Excellent use of space and great design!
The thing missing in the beginning of the video on the front of the camper is a flag pole holder, I have a 72 as well, all original.
Would love a flag pole holder!
Wow you did a awesome job refurbishing your travel trailer it looks so sweet.
Thank you!
The sink is very wise. I love it.
This is amazing! You & your wife did a superb job! Can't wait to share!!
Thank you!
This is nicely done, very cozy.
Little one must have a none stop adventure, what a childhood!
Weather permitting.
Good to see you guys.
Best renovation i have seen yet.
Wow that is one special RV😍Beautiful❤️❤️❤️I love everything especially the windows and the window shade😊
You did a awesome job!!!
Thank you!
I watch a lot of these videos & I have never seen one like this. Very cool.
Thank you!
It came out nice. I kinda like that AC/Heater. We have a 1972Hunter. That might work for us, too
One of the best purchases we made was the mini split. It works well.
So cool!! Very creative. Love this rig. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
Best I have ever seen! Well done you! 🤩
I really like the way this guy think: "Why having a sink and a lav few feet away from each other?. That kind of mentally made this old RV a very sweet home that will keep these folks out of a mortgage or paying outrageous amounts of money on renting a decent place.
Another thing that caught mi attention is the fact that the only gas needed in this RV is the one that runs the engine to take them places. Propane tanks stored (and hiding right below where one sleeps) is a dangerous combination.
At some point in the future all RVs (and cars) will run on electrical power and thus avoiding explosions and fires, let alone carbon monoxide leakages.
Living in an RV seems to be the solution for a home, even if one doesn't travel continuously.
Amazing solution for virtually anybody.
Greetings from Toronto.
And my faucet in the kitchen is an "on demand" love it!!!
Thanks!
If you haven't seen it the space museum in Alamogordo New Mexico is great. There is a five story building full of space display. Outside they have a display of equipment that has actually been in space. Also the first chimp that went into space is buried there. Alamogordo is about sixty miles east of Las Cruces on highway 70. Then if you want to visit a great place on highway 82 east out of Alamogordo is Cloud Croft. It is in the pine forest, a beautiful little town with great places to eat and cool in the summer. Worth your trip.
Wow! Thank you for the tip!!!
Fantastic electrical system, love the position and how workable it is.
Thanks!
Definitely an awesome electrical set up.
That's a pretty cool travel trailer. They did the great job on the restore, build.
Thank you!
Very nice RV. Love all the solar. We have the same toilet. Always have to remember to check the pee container. Ask my how I know😱
😆 we have #1 plumbed into the gray tanks.
Beautiful remodel! Thanks. LUCRETIA
Thank you!
Love Braxtons Bed and room!
