@@TRazielT it really is ToT I wanted to try and follow the same path you do in this run and it was really painful so I thought I'd go for 100% glitchless (including cutscene skips as glitches because they're pure stress) and it's honestly quite satisfying but nowhere near optimal (barely under 3h30 at best) But that aside I agree with all the comments saying your run is satisfying to watch, seriously good job !

Quite different from no restrictions

@@mosiarmstrong speedrunners usually lose count after a while, but I guess a couple of thousand... You can definitely get into the speedrun with way less time invested in this. I'm one of the oldest ori speedrunners so time piles up over the years :)
Wow! I just got the blind forest and the will of the wisps and i thought i did well getting dash in an hour and then here you are 100% ing the game in the same amount of time. Incredible!
Only a pro-gamer can run so freely in a terrain full of problems, not bothering to get lives and STILL finish the game so damn fast lol. It took me a full YEAR to escape the tree (I gave up after a few days and tried like a year later), but surprisingly forlorn ruins were so damn easy that I got it in like 7 tries (People give up at this stage).

Hey. It's actually pretty easy since you can just bind everything to a single key. But the idea is that you need to charge dash and immediately cancel it with a jump towards an enemy which is above you. To do that you should press charge jump + dash + jump at the same time
I just got this game for the first time on switch a week ago. Beat the game a couple times to 100%. How much of this movement is possible on the switch port? Is there a video explaining all the techniques in a way a beginner like me could understand?

after opening the ability menu, click on the EXP to open the dialog and then if you press proceed and back at the same time the game gives you back control of Ori but while still with the menu open. we use this a lot, because when you level up an ability the game saves at that moment allowing you to basically save anywhere (which is what we call this trick :D) If you have any specific question just point me to the time in the video :)
to be honest I didn't practice this specific category very much, probably just a couple of weeks. but I have been speedrunning this game for 4 years now.

@@3yearsfromnow oh yeah. The moon grotto lasers. Well in that specific case they are not loaded because we're coming from the bottom :) those lasers load during the cutscene on top a bit to the right but you can still avoid loading them like I do at minute 45:38 by going above the trigger or by saving before entering the cutscene and then rekindle once the cutscene is loaded and reloading the game. Both methods work to avoid those lasers. :)

I finally beat the Forlorn Ruins lol. My opinion of the game has changed for the better. How do you jump so high before even getting charge jump? I know you got charge dash but you’re launching to some crazy heights.
Great to hear you're enjoying it more. :) We call that trick a rocket jump. Technically, it's a charge dash directed at an enemy above Ori which is cancelled by a jump input. Sounds more complex than it actually is. It's just a bind of charge, dash and jump inputs. When you do this aimed at an enemy above Ori you get the rocket jump. It's pretty cool :)

that trick is called fast stompless. in short, we have to break the rocks above Kuro to get to feather. we take the shot from the spider, aim it at a very precise angle that will hit the rocks, but there is a wall before the rocks so we need to go back fast to unload that wall. and of course, since we have that time, we use it to grab the ability cell :P
Speed runners tend to play this game over and over again for 1000s of hours... this guy/gal savors and contemplates this game way more than you ever will.
I loved Ori and the Will of the Wisps, but the Blind Forrest is complete trash when you get to the gravity level where all controls are inverted/obsolete. Sorry, but this game could have been better, but at least they didn’t make the same mistakes in the second one.
I guess people have different preferences. From a casual play I absolutely loved Forlorn. I think it was genius level design. WotW is also great casually, I'm actually not sure which I preferred, but for speedrunning definitely BF
I'm still playing throught blind forest and didn't play will of the wisps, and I agree that the gravity section in forlorn is kind of trash, but I wouldn't say it ruins the game or anything.
@@veljkojankovic3718 The double bashing can be done if you press bash again 1 frame after releasing the first bash. And basically you get the effect you see there, instead of the projectile or enemy going one direction and ori the other you can manipulate both.

It's the level up. The wave from it destroys both sides. So if you have a good XP and level up at the right time you can skip the right side

@@veljkojankovic3718 The double bashing can be done if you press bash again 1 frame after releasing the first bash. And basically you get the effect you see there, instead of the projectile or enemy going one direction and ori the other you can manipulate both.
@@veljkojankovic3718we call that a rocket jump. This is actually pretty easy to do. it's just dash+charge jump+jump at the same time. You can bind it to a single key. Then as long as you have an enemy above you, you get that effect. Pretty neat. If you would want to learn more or start speedrunning join the community discord :)
