This was a nice video but you never mentioned what to do with the puppy at night. Put them in a crate and let them cry and whimper all night and take them out to potty every 2 hours, let them sleep with you and take them out every 2 hours? I'm getting a 6 week old BT baby soon and am not sure how to handle the night time routine? I know she will cry all night being separated from her mom and littermates and I don't know how to resist the pitiful crying all night. HELP !!

I hope your puppy is doing well! My Boston was born in June. I have several
Dogs and we have done different things. I want my dog sleeping with me! I pick up the food and water early. We go out to potty and don’t go to bed until she is successful. She sleeps at the top of the bed so she can wake me up. She does have this adorable habit of laying her neck across my face and sleeping. I would stay up all night to cuddle like that! For the first month, we went out around 2am to potty and straight back to bed. Now she sleeps all night and she goes to the bathroom immediately when she wakes up. She is doing great!

As a boston owner of 5 and my family has many. In their early weeks, months, then year they are very smart. Choose the path you want from your dog. As for toys free out, I disagree, depends on a square head or round head. Squares get high anxiety when you are gone so they will need to be kennel trained, he would get anxiety while i was gone and chew on stuff. Once trained and a toy out he wont need a kennel unless bad or need to be controlled. my oldest is a roundie and never had as much problems and hes very smart. Never had to kennel, never needed a leash, even living in LA! Not that my square isnt smart its hes just dumb. I know that doesnt make sense but to put it into perspective squares are more from judge, roundies are smaller from their mother. So you have a bully style and smaller style. The squares tend to take more constant training, so start early if you got that bloodline, and I mean a lot. My roundie he just thought he was a human and or cat or any other dog around him. Swear me and him can talk by grunts lol. Actually took minimal training but still crucial early. Hes 15 now and still very spry. Unfortunately hes going deaf and blind so teach them hand signals and whistles or clicks that they will always know. My square knows them same with the girls, ones a square and very protective just like the male, the others are round and very much like my round. Theres is difference in personality that you notice and may require more attention, love, training etc. They are smart great dogs for city life but also like to venture, get them multiple clothes. Feed them proper, get their zoomies out and yes do sleep with them, they are pack animals so they will always wanna be with you like a pack of Huskies are. If you are uncomfortable and throw them in the kennel it can break the bond with you. Only use it as way to show them they need controlled. At night or on the couch etc. Let them cuddle. They are sweet wonderful dogs. I will always cherish my kids. 🥰

What about when your vet tells you not to take your puppy out until it turns 3 months old? Any suggestions for potty training at home???

I need some advice . My 5 month old female Boston Terrier will walk on a leash around the block and some other places but she is constantly just stopping and laying down or just sitting. I don't want to pull her along but she does this so often that I am frustrated and feel like she isn't getting much sniffing or "good stimulation" on her walks. Also, she refuses to walk with just me or just my husband only wants to walk when it's the two of us but that isn't always possible. How do I approach these issues and have her walk along without laying down all the time and walk with just one of us....me or my husband.??

Hey :) great videos. I am researching getting a Boston Terrier as my first pup. You said when toilet training take the pup out every hour on the hour (as well as after food, water & naps) then praise when they do their business, at what point do you recommend it can be longer than an hour? What is the next step? What about through the night? I live in a seconds floor flat so keen to put in the work for a good routine for me and a pup, thanks!

These videos are great, I've got 16 week old Boston (male) puppy, I got him home approx 3 weeks ago. I live on the 16th floor of a high-rise building, wondering what your thoughts are on potty training with this circumstance. Also although I work from home, taking him outside every hour (during the work day) is not always possible. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this... thanks! Steve
