I had that and unfortunately, I gave in. I was one year dye free and then I gave in. Let me tell you, I so wish I hadn't because now I have to start all over...UGH!!! I am so glad I found your channel!
Good points you made here regarding longing to go back (before ditching the dye). I can definitely relate when I look back life was easygoing, fun, and carefree on a different level. The world and the people in it were kinder. It's funni how the CV outbreak brought out masks in the physical, but at the same time unmasked (spiritually) what is really in one's heart. It seems the greedy got greedier, the angry angrier, the crazy insane, and also for the good, and kind hearts what is within is showing up externally. Btw, Ty for the Aveda video you did a couple of days ago as an option. I was watching on my TV at the time, but took notes and scheduled an appointment. Someone did respond that they are a gray hair-friendly salon and will link me with an appropriate stylist. It's a couple of weeks from now and I will let you know how it goes. You ROCK at this GH GAME Ms. KGP!🙂 I'm also enjoying your blog & newsletter.👍🏾
Thanks, Carla! I agree with you - it’s been a crazy ride the past few years since Covid started. I hope things go back to “normal” again soon. I’m so glad you liked the Aveda tip in that last video! Let me know how it goes, for sure! And so glad you are enjoying all the stuff I’m putting out - it’s a lot of work but it feels good to help my fellow silver sisters!
That recently happened to me. I caved and used a temporary red dye, but now I'm worried as it's not TOTALLY fading out and I'm getting roots! I've washed it more than the 12 times Clairol advertises now. I'm like, "Get out of my hair you dye!" LOL
Years ago, when I had a lot of gray hair, I dyed it from medium brown to dark blonde, and even then I felt the nostalgia of my vibrant and powerful brown. Now I grew the blonde to gray. I often still feel the nostalgia. But I'm glad I don't have to worry about the roots of my hair anymore and it feels as good as when I was young.
When you dye your hair you have serious pangs of missing your glossy dark locks, or whatever it used to be. I think it's more to do with memories of how we used to look and feel. Thank you for your videos, v interesting 🦋
Actually no, the longing for my old dyed hair has never happened in the 4 years since I’ve let it grow out. That being said, there has been frequent longings for the old me! Those younger years, when I was thinner, felt prettier etc. But it’s never been about my hair color. Mine is all white. A little silver would be nice but I’m content. Interesting video. Thank you for sharing. Your hair looked beautiful at the wedding! And looks beautiful now.😊
Thank you! Yeah, that’s why i was so surprised. I love my natural gray color and would never go back to dye (BUT I wouldn’t mind having my old body back 😄)
Thanks for this video. I've been thinking on it alot more but it's mostly because it's becoming a hassle to upkeep it. Between the curls, the hard water, the yellowing, it just seems like dying would fix it all. 😆
Not usually - I have sensory issues so it’s hard for me to wear certain things. However, if you see my video about traveling with gray hair, I have some suggestions for wonderful claw clips and hair bands that are very soft.
Yes just two weeks ago I thought about coloring it after it’s been my natural grey the last three years. My son is getting married next year and I am just thinking I’m going to look so old with my hair compared to the mother of the bride who does not have grey hair. But I don’t want the hassle of coloring it and that upkeep
Check out this other video for tips on how not to look or feel "old" with gray hair - and try to remember that gray is just another hair color, not a marker of advanced age. If nobody dyed their hair, a ton of people over 30 would be gray :-) Hope that helps!
What will happen if you dye gray hair again? Is it never gray again there...will the colour not fade or go out anymore, does the gray hair soak colour up much? (honest question not sarcastic). 😊..
If you use any dye with the word "permanent" in it, it will likely stain your hair and ruin the natural gray. So the only way to get rid of that area would be to cut it off or grow it out - so if you dyed your whole head again, you'd have to start the whole gray hair transition process over again. That's why it's a good idea to think really hard if you want to dye again after going gray :-) - but some people end up going back and forth between dyeing/not dyeing a few times until they decide gray hair is really what they want (or don't want).
Everybody’s gray hair is so different - on me, only the top layer is gray, everything underneath is my natural, dark brown, almost black. So that shows through at my part.
Has this ever happened to you? Please let me know! How did you handle it?
I don't miss my dyed hair, but I terribly miss my natural brown!
That’s a good distinction - natural color definitely always looks better than artificial ❤
That is exactly what I said the other day. I will always miss my dark brown hair of my younger days, not my pseudo brown/blonde highlights.
I had that and unfortunately, I gave in. I was one year dye free and then I gave in. Let me tell you, I so wish I hadn't because now I have to start all over...UGH!!! I am so glad I found your channel!
Sorry to hear that! But glad to be of help ♥️
I haven’t loved my dyed hair for years, so happy to be 5 months in on my transition ❗️
Wonderful!
Yes, those moments happen to me occasionally. But time gets us all! I do like my silver hair!😘❤🙏🏻✨
Yes it does! So glad you love your hair ❤️

@@KatieGoesPlatinum 😊👌🏽
Yes I sometimes miss my dark brown hair even though I really like my silver hair. I think it’s normal to miss the features we were used to seeing.
For sure! ❤
Thank you for sharing this! The pang hasn’t hit me yet but I appreciate the honest dialogue about it!
You’re welcome!
Thank you for this video! I can so relate!
You’re welcome! So glad you liked it ❤️❤️

I do miss my colored like hair but I'm ready for gray hair. My hair is a nature light brown with red highlights.

I get it - it feels so nice to be done with worrying about roots!

Yeah, but then you get the whole other host of problems. Thinning hair, damaged hair, etc. but I totally get where you’re coming from!
Do you use any hair accessories like zig zag headbands?

Why do your roots look dark when all the rest is silver?😊luv the silver an the length.🎉
