    I love Chanticleer, have since I first heard them perform for some school kids in 1984. Got to hear three of their classical performances after that. What a beautiful perfect blending of voices they have always had....so grateful for you in this world.

      Disagree. This is one piece where a healthy vibrato is absolutely essential. Without the vibrato the climax is sanitized, devoid of emotion.

    Wow. Absence of the Orthodox idiom entirely. Lots of vibrato. No bass.
    Check out the choirs from Eastern Europe and Russia, available on youtube. The National Academic Choir of Ukraine account and the version by the USSR Ministry of Chamber Choir are sublime.
    An amazing recording with Robert Shaw and the Shaw Festival Singers is an American account with stunningly rich and disciplined singing.

    • @MaTi2299
      @MaTi2299 3 года назад +3

      I think the lack of bass is due to the recording quality. I wish they had studio version.

      @@MaTi2299 That group simply doesn't have any oktavists. Recording quality has.nothing to do with not hearing low pitch singers: the recording can lack the fundamental frequencies and still the listener can still hear the pitch from the higher harmonics present.
