Great comparisons for what I wanted. The best I've heard on YouYube so far and I've been searching and listening. For the record, I tend to like the '68 P with flats played with a pick the best. Nice playing too.
Fantastic! Love the combination of space and really fast lines! Plus pinch harmonics, tuplets and just everything... Reminds me of Dean Town in its quality!
I personally liked the '68 with the Thomastik flats I think the most. I was literally drawn back to that time, loved the tone. Then the '79 with the DR Hi beam strings which sounded completely different but it sounded much more clear than the traditional P base sound. I like these strings as well on other bass like Music Man. You played it excellent, enjoyed this. Thanks!
The 68 is exactly like my old 69...I don't know if it's string technology, pick-up winding/materials or the way modern amps are voiced, but no precision I've heard recaptures "that" sound" from back in the day. Every P bass I've heard sounds like a modern instrument no matter how old it is. IMHO YMMV
DUDE this is from Zivot u Cismama sa Visokom Petom! I just found this song the other day after listening to Elizabet for 18 hours on repeat. You are an insane bass player! Any chance you have tabs for this song at all? I would love to learn the bassline but transcribing it sounds very difficult! Awesome videos, amazing comparison, all the same riff, as it should be. You earned a new sub today!
Can you talk more about the specs and story behind "Fender Precision '78 with Custom body and CS'62 pickup, with Daddario ECB84 Flats, fingerstyle" ? Is the neck from 78' but the body aftermarket? What is the story here? Sounds amazing by the way!
Thanks. As You said, the neck is original with S8 serial (could be 78-81), refreted and profile reduced to almost a Jazz bass dimensions. Body is made by my friend luthier form two pieces of light ash according to specs of my 1968 original P bass, painted in 4 layers and reliced by relic Master @draganguitars. Looks and feels amazing! All other hardware parts are new from Thomann Germany, also reliced by @draganguitars. New CS '62 pickup and Wiring by Allparts P-style vintage with .047 MFD Capacitor. 😊 I sold the bass almost a year ago in order to replace it with a CS, and honestly I'm pretty sad about it even I am satisfied with a CS.
and the winner is the 68 P bass with flats.
The P basses make the song sound like early 70's era Herbie Hancock, and the Sandberg makes the song sound like 80's and 90's smooth jazz.
Great video. I liked the Sandberg the best. ⭐️🇦🇺
The '79 Precision by a mile.
It almost sounded like it had a J at the bridge, backing up the P.
😁👍

Great vid! Great tones and great playing! Thanks for posting.

I’d go with the white ‘78 p-bass, because it was played fingerstlye :)
79 for me \m/
Nice sounds from 68 & 78 P-basses, and nice plays for all basses.
Really nice playing.
Thanks 🙏
