They literally use the computer to write their solos, then slow down the track and learn what the computer came up with bot by note until they can almost fake it live. Lol no band outside of the legends sound good live, all their bullshit falls apart in front of a live audience. These thieving parrots can create nothing on their own without older musicians of yesterday holding their hands. Take today's most popular genetic waste polyphia. Wow what amazing arrangements, they don't write. Watch the Ibanez showcase video from a few years back with the little punks, they can't improvise. You would get laughed out of any recording or rehearsal situation if you can't fricking improvise. Yet they exist today. A time and place where the average music listeners iq have sank so drastically fart noises are gonna be the next best selling album in a few years
The barts are quiet and clean due to the covered magnet design and still has a nice bite, but that fender growl is undeniable IYKYK. The Nords seem to be a more flat balanced tone which probably sound better in an active bass.
I recall, an interview where Marcus details his "Larry Graham influence..He said he played a show with, Larry. And. he said he didn't want to play any of Larry"s riffs in that show..Only to realize he had no other riffs to play..That's what I see here..Like someone stated,, Yes he has evolved..I have been his tech a time or two . I Played the Jazz bass you see..
That wasn’t played through SWR gear, this looks like it was played through an Acoustic 370 head. SWR was not founded until 1986 (5 years after this performance here was recorded).
It's all about his technique... ( His command of the instrument) He can get his sound out of most any equipment.... This Solo comes from the Casino Lights Album...

As a kid I recall he also produced and played on Aretha Franklin's Jump To It album. So, he did a lot of amazing stuff at a very young age.
check out joe samples "ashes to ashes" album if you havent already. to me he is at is best when just playing the bass parts with nothing flashy
