I had my prom last year too, so here’s my advice for anyone who’s got proms coming up!
No one cares about the car you arrive in. Don’t pay ridiculous amounts of money for a 15 minute trip in a stretch limo - it’s cool, but definitely not a necessity.
Try on your dress at least once/twice a month. If it doesn’t fit you, get it altered then, don’t wait until just before your prom, as it will be ridiculously busy to find someone to alter it.
Yeah, the best part of prom might be the getting ready (we didn’t have an after party, so I don’t know about that!) but you feel like an absolute queen walking around with your hair and makeup done.
Also, on that note, don’t feel obligated to pay to get your hair and makeup done. I did my own makeup (but did practise it, and I cannot stress that enough!) but got my hair done, as I cannot curl my hair for the life of me!
And don’t feel like you have to spend hundreds of poiunds on your dress for it to look good. Mine was £55 in the ASOS sale in December 2018, it fit perfectly and suited me. I loved it, and wouldn’t have wanted to spend so much money on a dress - but each to their own!

Amy Lorrimer tbh I feel like the people that put in less effort looked the best. Defo be extra because it’s prom but if you know you suit a certain hairstyle for example, do that instead of trying something new and risking hating it lol xx
Maisie Jones ah good advice actually thankyou, my dress colour is extra but it’s not too glitzy which I like and the style is classy. I don’t ever wear makeup so I might just go for the natural but classy look somehow haha. I’ll have to make a mood board😂xx

I honestly hated my prom hair and makeup so I definitely recommend having a trial so you don’t end up hating your night because of your appearance ❤️

I regret choosing my prom dress so quickly, I tried on 2 dresses and then chose! As it got closer to my prom day I liked it less each day 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️

Prom is what you make it. Personally I had a really good time and that’s because I spent it with my friends. However I know people who thought they were too cool for it (the dancing etc) had a shit time
The best part of prom is the prep and the after party, can’t imagine doing it without the after party I would of been so disappointed

My dress was literally on sale for £30. Obviously if you want get ur hair and makeup done but I feel like once you get there no one actually cares and it’s dark so don’t need to have that done. Some people paid loads for a really big dress and didn’t have hat much fun because they couldn’t really move around in it and they were scared of ruining it. Some people spend loads of money but in the end it’s one night
After prom is always the best part !
I bought my prom dress £60 from Lipsy in January :) they have some great more chilled evening dresses
I didn’t have to get mine altered at all and I would recommend not paying so much on them x

I got my dress beginning of of September and our proms in June
I got a similar style as grace Foley for prom and I understand the regrets about appearance, in terms of hair because my hair was the same I had it done but it looked dreadful on me. You both looked so pretty tho omg models 😅💓

Payed less than £70 on dress, hair, makeup, shoes etc. Best decision of my life, was the most underwhelming night of my life.

My prom tips that no one wants but I’m gonna say anyway 😂 - look on eBay as there are thousands of dresses in there that you can buy and just take to a dry cleaners ( also they are from seasons ago so most likely no one will have it) - also go body shop to get your make up done they do it for free if you spend 10+ in store so you can just buy the lip stick or gloss they use and that will cover it x
My dress didn’t fit at all and it had alterations
I go to an all girls school so for my prom we join up with a boys school so if we do get a date we won't have to 'babysit' them because they can go off with their mates and we can go off with ours.

I hated my prom make up and hair and the dress! The after party is so so much better!!! I’d recommend getting a trial with hair and make up. However I just didn’t like it on the day! Was so annoying! Make sure you also go prom dress shopping. I don’t recommend online ordering as I did this and wish I had gone shopping. It’s so over rated but enjoy the day💗
