Yes and dragon quest is not a new ["turn based hero game"] but a remake of a very old game. It's also not a ["ripoff of pokemon"] but is the og that pokemon ripped off. Asmon gets confused though so it's understandable
He did play BG3 and didn't really like it. I'd say the closest to a JRPG he'll get is a game like Undertale. He didn't mind the aesthetics because he liked the bullet-hell style gameplay. But even games like the Tales franchise, Star Ocean, or FF7R I think would be a bit slow for him. He got somewhat bored with FFXVI, and while he eventually finished it he didn't seem compelled to do so or even start a NG+. Asmon is pretty limited when it comes to his gaming choices. He doesn't play SRPGs, RTS, JRPGs, Sims, Puzzle, Racing, Sports, 4X, Rhythm, Point & Click, Hidden Object, Fighting, CRPGs (traditional), or Visual Novels. (I'm probably forgetting a bunch, too.) Asmon pretty much only plays "twitch games" (press a button, get immediate "action-related" reaction that influences direction of character), and that's it. So it's useless to take his opinion about non-twitch games because not only does he not care about them, he hasn't really played them so he doesn't have a good sense of what makes those fun or not fun--unless they have twitch gameplay. As the owner of a game publisher, he really should expand his purview to a wider range and learn to appreciate different styles, but at the end of the day that's his call and his alone. Maybe he wants Mad Mushroom to ONLY publish twitch games (which seems to be what they are doing, Splodey and Rumble Club are twitch games in the extreme).
@@peterfabell154 Im ngl BG3 combat aint that great. i played tons of better turn based games. He might like a few but yeah chances are he wont try them.
@@dembi2770 I love BG3 combat. For me, it's incredibly satisfying, setting up a combo against a powerful enemy or taking on multiple enemies who outnumber you 3 to 1, when often one of them could kill a single character of yours in 3 turns. It's just a different style.
I'm so turning off the cat being able to speak. I've played monster hunter game ever since the PSP and the palico being able to speak is nothing short of a blasphemy to me. 😂😂😂 Support hunter were already available in Monster Hunter Rise. In Rise, the support hunter has fixed armor but has an options of 2 weapon choice. Before the hunt, you can choose either of the 2 weapons the support hunter can use. You can bring up to 2 support hunters for each quest and you can't go multiplayer if you choose that option.
Same, that was a hard double-take from me. I'm guessing it's because they'll have less text communication and rely on voice-acting which will take some adjusting to
I agree. I always imagined in that World the hunters learned to speak and understand the cats and vice versa, so their meowing was already totally ok. No need to give them the ability to speak, but ok
It definitely feels wrong. The point of the Palico is supposed to be to give you a partner that you sort of bond with through action, not words. When you give them words, it takes away from the fact that actions speak louder than words, and sort of ruins the whole animal-partner aspect. Like when you have a pet in real life, it doesn't need to TELL you that it loves you, you can tell because of how it interacts with you. And in some ways, that's even stronger than if they could speak. And a Palico doesn't need to TELL you that it has your back, you just know it does through its actions. It's that sort of human-animal interaction that makes them likeable and relatable. A bond, even without words. If they are going to make them speak, then they might as well just make them human and delete Palicos from the game at that point.
You dont need to play Metal Gear 1 & 2 before you play 3. 1 & 2 take place after 3. 3 was the origin story of Big Boss and my favorite in the MG series. I 100% that game many times back in the PS2 days, cant wait to play it again.
yeah there's honestly not even many parallels from msg1/2 in msg3, which you'd think they'd add easter eggs and the like (aside from obvious character cameos, like big boss and ocelot).
i remember they were showcasing the water effect in the game just before it first dropped, they were so proud of what they made back then, i really hope the remaster does it justice, the game was TOO good
Tbf, yes you need because the MG1 was in famicon and the sequel was in nes (technically the real sequel was in another console but most people played snakes revenge as MG2). So, in order to get what happened there you trully needed to know what happened in the famicom MG1.

Capcom has a godlike engine for these type of games (Dragon's Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter) and it seems they can freely change it and evolve it. Also the engine for Resident Evil is insane too, its hard to remember some years ago were Capcom was almost like Current Ubisoft, they made a gigantic comeback
I think Capcom engine are mid at best. So I don't know what you are taking about. I played RE8 and World a lot. You need to play Horizon, God of War or The Last of Us to understand what is high level engine. Even a mid game like Robocop look impressive with UE5. There is also Metro Exodus, which is already quite old. To be fair, Asmongold is also praising dog shit a lot of time. But he played too much WoW, that is why. Completely unexperienced and out of touch. The only he knows is Elden Ring. And he think that shit is beautiful. And the most ridiculous thing is he will then act like has high standard because he is a PC player. You can't make this shit up.
@@crisschan2463 We can see the similarities in the lighting. But like is said, in practice, it only look good in a walking sim. I'm being harsh. But I'm honest when I say it's never impressive, and it is very underwhelming in the cases of MHW or DD2. Both look like PS3 era game, with more details and a few new effects. That is bad. In most case, I would say it's "good enough" When I played Horizon 2 for the first time I was like "Whow!" "It look so good(for a PS4 compatible game") Another good exemple is RDR2. That game was impressive. GTA5 on the PS3. That is an actual beast of a engine. People are still playing it today not realising it is actually a PS3 game. Atlus' Metaphor ReFantazio has a demo out now. It's not a turn-based strategy game per se, it uses some sort of system where you get put into an instanced action combat encounter based on your actions beforehand. Yakuza has always been action combat. @@1_underthesun pretty sure it was during monster hunter wilds, i do find the quality of the trailer pretty inconsistent but even if it "just" looks like worlds it would still be beautiful. But I doubt that
Empire of ants seems like they want to make an age of empire or similar but for the insect world. Just thinking about ot, you could do soooo many creative things adapting current genres of games through the lense of the miniature insect world.
The thing that is encouraging about Fragpunk is seeing all the developers in one room playing games together. Reminds me of the old videos of the Halo creators playing against each other.

Yep - seems history has been forgotten. Never played Parasite Eve, but my mind immediately went back to Shiny Entertainment's Messiah from 2000 playing as a defenseless cherub that can possess any lifeform in the game by jumping into their body. So its been around since late 90's and in multiple different games worldwide.
@@gggamer3851 Okay so I'm against agenda pushes etc but having dark skinned characters is not DEI. The land these characters are in is based on sub Saharan Africa. It makes complete sense given the first maps environment. As for "boss girls" I can see how people would think that but in the latest trailer the "boss girl" with the hammer smacks the monster and she's the one who gets knocked back. The opposite of what would usually happen to a "boss girl" character.
this ant game has so much potential. 100vs100 ant hill battles, conquest modes like BF games where you fight over control of a small corpses or pieces of food. Survival mode when being attacked by other insects or natural climates
Because Metal Gear Solid takes place directly after the Cold War, where Russia and America are still at odds and interfering with each other covertly through espionage. And Sokolov is a very common Russian family name. It only makes sense that if they are putting Russian characters into the story, that they would have Russian names. Would you prefer that they just call them Smith instead and be completely out of place?
What I most enjoyed about that metal gear delta trailer is how it is a mix of a ps2 game (voice lines and of course the characters) and todays technology. A really good remake it seems. It has that feels of being back in time somehow.
MGS trailer had me rolling with the chick at the end. They were like ''LOOK. WE CAN MAKE WOMEN LOOK GOOD. WE'RE NOT LIKE WESTERN DEVELOPERS. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE DON'T ROAST US''
I don't think that's why they showed it lol. At least from what I've seen people have been wanting to see Eva and Volgin's models in the new engine and that's exactly what this trailer gives us.
no its because eva was one of the most hyped characters from msg3 going into this remake and teasing her at the end of the trailer is fitting considering where she shows up in the story itself and how her character resolves
Nah more that they aren't affected by western politics. That's why shadows blew up so much, suddenly Japan was having to deal with western bullshit and they hate it just much as we do. She's a popular character and they made her look good, so they used her for marketing. That's literally it.
For the ants empire game it looks cool. A better idea would be a battle royale or survival game where 100 players play with different species of insects. Survive, evolve, gain abilities. Fighter, tank, stealth, assassins and such.
Starts of with a couple minute intro of what everyone was doing when the news broke. Contractors drinking at a bar in Chicago, a mom watching her kids at home on the phone with her parents, college athletes drinking by the river listening to the truck radio. And end it with Bush getting the news while he was doing that read along. That would fucking hit hard.
2009 there was a game called "Darkest of Days" an fps where you time travel through humanities worst moments. You even where captured at one point and brought to a concentration camp (Auschwitz) in WW2. Game companies back then just didn't give a fk. 🤝🏻
20:26 you'll probably be able to coose between a couple weapons per character, like Rise. It wouldn't surprise me if they added a selection of equipment, too. In Rise, each NPC had a role (DPS, Buffer, Healer, etc) and had a selection of equipment you could choose from that filled the role.
More people should try slitterhead! A lot of folks attribute silent hill to Kojima, but the man directing this game may also claim that. The director, Keiichiro Toyama seems to have wacky and cool ideas for gameplay mechanics, as seen here. If anyone would like a taste of his style (and if u have a ps vita or ps4, ps5) i would highly recommend gravity rush. The gimmick in that is that the pc is able to change the direction that gravity affects them, and can free fall in the direction they choose.
Dude, please stream MGS1 & 2. Would love to see that happen. Been following for years, miss seeing more of your playthroughs even if it can take a bit for ya to get mechanics down.
snake's face looks a bit off ngl. Did they use the same model as mgsv because if they didnt just age that down a bit then they wasted time and resources on this new one. colonel volgin looks great though. The boss is no longer abnormally pale'd skin and looks like a normal human now. Eva looks amazing of course. Ocelot looked good when he first appeared but looked off when in the helicopter.
Would be amazing if someday you could decide where to use material on your weapons and have visual changes. A nargacugar blade, with Kushala Dora hilt and silver Rath pummel. Each part giving benefits and draw backs etc.
I played MHW for 30 hours before I decided that this game was not enjoyable for me with the few weapons that I tried. Then a year later, Iceborn came out on sale for 10 bucks. So I figured I'd give the game a try again, forgetting why I didn't like it. I played the game for another 30 hours, using the heavy bow gun, only to realize I was not having fun after beating the story again. I played as long as I could to ensure I didn't have any bias, and learned all the gameplay mechanics. The whole game felt like a slog. It was the combat that I didn't enjoy. I found it to be very clunky. So on a last-ditch effort, I decided to try every single weapon that I haven't played with yet, and did not enjoy any of them until I tried the Switch Axe. I started a new game for the 3rd time, and beat the whole thing going into Iceborne in 12 hours. I couldn't believe how fast I beat the story with that weapon. If it wasn't for the Switch Axe, I would not be a Monster Hunter fan, and MH Wilds is looking fantastic.
2 attempts at Nioh 1 and 2 with the sword and I fell off. Picked up 2 later with fists and a combined total of 1200 hours later, I'm a superfan for NioH. A class or weapon type really makes or breaks a game for you. Borderlands 1 Lilith was like the perfect class to me, didn't vibe with any class in 3 and got bored.
I hated that no matter how much I progressed hunting monsters never decreased in time completion. It always took almost half an hour to complete since I couldn't stop said monsters from running across the map after losing a set amount of health. I quit after that. It was a fun Launch day though lots of players constantly helping out but I think MH wasn't for me.
@@maskva-u6f oh boy, my maximum of a game was somewhat 350 hours, guess it was Skyrim... or so.... but that is really my Personal record, I am too curious about new games coming in in between... I mean for these 350 hours I think it was almost a year for me
Hate to say it, but there are some shit takes in this. Not all games need to have ultra wow graphics to be good and enjoyable. Art style is a thing, you know.
Yeah, I don't get the hate for games that choose art style over more realistic graphics. It's like how people hate on the Veilguard graphics for looking horrible, but it looks to me like they chose an art style to lean into. There are a few things I'm critical of with what I've seen of Veilguard, but I've loved bioware games since the first KotOR game, including ME and DA. And despite some of the more recent issues with bioware, it really does sound like they actually listened to the criticism and have made an effort to shift back to what DA fans want, which is encouraging. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.
@@chuiduma Yeah the dragon's dogma origins didn't seem to be going for a realistic art-style either, but it's harder for people to be able to tell that given the times it was produced in.
Can’t wait for Asmon to play none of these games and instead play shitty Soulslikes, MMOs that die in a week, and the millionth Vampire Survivors clone
Game politics should be fun and interesting, not remind me that my life is forfeit cause I'm born a certain way. I have a right to want things. This kind of gatekeeping is why Western games have gone to shit.
i dont remember mgs3 being an escort game...but it was like 12 years ago i played it. transformers may still come to Wilds. they always do crossover stuffs with other properties...like i think world had witcher 3 stuff.
The prelude is an escorts mission during the beginning with sokolav. And towards the end with an injured Eva! (This part people probably have issues with this part but imo skill issue as I've never had a issue with that end game part with eva)
The escort parts are pretty small and not difficult. The people you are escorting are generally just there for flavor/story purposes and you don't actually need to do any protecting.
@@Krokodilius That "Some chick" is "The Boss", and she is basically like Snakes mentor/mother. The point of turning it into a close quarters fight is to sell you on the fact that Snake is basically battling against someone he cares about and does not want to kill, but is forced to anyways. Fighting in close quarters allows you to feel the fight's emotional significance, something that they would not have been able to illustrate via a gunfight. "The Boss" was known as the mother of the special forces, and she created the martial arts that she teaches. She is basically the epitome of strength and what it means to be a soldier. It is only after snake defeats her that he takes the title of Boss for himself "Big Boss", and this is the origin story of Big Boss, the original Snake that is referenced in other MGS games. Big Boss (original Snake) goes on to become a Villain in future MGS games, and the other Snake characters you play as in the other games are clones of Big Boss.

If Asmon Plays a turn based rpg I think it will actually break twitch.
Fallout Tactics would be a great choice.
He never played Slay The Spire, right?
(I'm probably forgetting a bunch, too.)
Asmon pretty much only plays "twitch games" (press a button, get immediate "action-related" reaction that influences direction of character), and that's it.
Support hunter were already available in Monster Hunter Rise.
@@MiaMizuno Pretty sure you can turn off their ability to speak in the settings.
I'm pretty sure support hunters in rise had more than 2 weapons to choose from.

But he'll miss some references.
I still think it's better to play them in order.

That's the Cold War story.
In WW2 background we usually get some Heinrich, Schmitt or Steiner, or some jap names.

I don't think that's why they showed it lol. At least from what I've seen people have been wanting to see Eva and Volgin's models in the new engine and that's exactly what this trailer gives us.

The animations in Slitterhead look very stock and robotic, which made it look empty and unpolished. It doesn't look like it plays very well. This time it was based
14:36 This is technically the same engine. DD2 used a modified version of the RE (Reach for the Moon) Engine which implemented some new features of the in development REX (Reach for the moon: Next) Engine. This is simply a version that includes more new features brought over from the as yet incomplete new engine. Until the release of Wilds, DD2 will remain the newest iteration of the engine, and the first game using aspects from the new REX Engine.
Would like to see you play Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne on Hard difficulty (I know he likes hard games or at least likes to play on hard difficulty). If you like it, you could play Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance after.
Shattered space looks dope! It's going to give us that Bathesda experience we wanted
Metaphor or FF 7 rebirth will win GOTY.
Metaphor has a DEMO out, asmon should test it. Its like 2 hour or so. Truly special kinda jrpg.
I've been wanting him to play some Atlus games for a while.
if FF7 rebirth wins, then it means our standards have really dropped a lot.
@@llewliet4021 I do believe that rebirth should not win. It is a 8.7 to 8.9/10 game.
But simply said, theres is a too much game in the game.
I am not talking about the minigames, i am talking how it hops and jogs between what it wants to do all the time.
For an example with music which annoyed me the MOST.
The usage of the music annoyed me alot, for example the overworld/field music starts its amasing, you hop on the chocobo AND YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE FUCKING chocobo music. You hop off the fight its back amasing.
Back to chocococo and back to hell.
Final bosses. I am talking about the jenova and "REDACTED" there were maybe 5 or 7 songs used.
Original FF7 used 1, for an effect.
I coundt listen to one of them, because the fucking phases went past me so fast.
I was so annoyed by that its amasing, pay 100 million for music production, dont let people HEAR IT.
Then the chadley and mai, i wish for rule34 of pure gore where cloud just kills them.
Story went mostly like expected, after remake part 1.
The 3rd part of the game is called mostlikely "REUNITE" and sepi sepi will merge all timelines and fights and shit sepi sepi loses. World saved and credits roll.
In credit roll the ORIGINAL timeline of ff7 rolls in credits and all is good.
You can quete me on this.
So yes i think ATLUS will make much better coheasive product, its their 35 year celebatory game.
Everything that has shown is AMASING, not good but amasing.
The demo is amasing, combat looks like ATLUS style turn-based.
I do hope more good turnbased games would come out, its just makes the story experience so much better instead of losing 1000 times to radahan.(though radahan was epic as hell)
Small rant, adhd kicked in.
Looks like ff7 rebirth or Metaphor
15 days and metaphor is out and we know if we have japanese developer win GOTY again. (there is veilguard? but win lol no? did you fire and ice dragon video. Developers who made that should be blacklisted from all companies.)
Would it be 3rd or 4th time.
Something special in their water or what?
I do agree, rebirth is 8.7 to 8.9/10
The way rebirth used music, annoyes me to hell.
Constant music change, hopping to chocobo, music change... Even the temple when you racing to get the materia, why is there such an epic battle music, but the walking theme is not epic?
Final bosses the JENOVA and "REDACTED" i think there was like 5 to 7 different music tracks there, WHY? Original had fucking 1. It was epic moment.
I dont have much to complain about the story, sure its hard to understand. If its not easy to understand by near end of the game, then i am angry.
3rd game will be called "REUNITE" Sepi sepi will unite all timelines, cloud and gang go kling klang and win. Timelines restored.
Credits roll, and in credits the original ff7 timeline is shown. You hear it here first, you can quete me on this.
Metaphor looks amasing, sounds amasing, feels amasing and comes out in 15 days.
When its out and played, i think we know who wins the GOTY.
I do not thing veilguard has even chance to make profit.(did you see the Dragon fight? with Frost and fire dragons? Who ever developed that should be blacklisted from the company for ever)
But yes it has been quiet year, i do believe metaphor is something special. Its not BG3 special or god of war or elden ring. It does look the strongest of this year by quite big margin.
Tough Rebirth was very polished, tough there is the saying "less is more" and they could had used it there.
Small rant, adhd kicked in.

Empire of the Ants has to be the biggest surprise for me. It went from "oh is it a cozy ant simulator?" to something completely off the rails.
Mgs has always been political... fantasy political
Not modern day politics
@@Jjosh9424 like I said. Fantasy politics
FYI Suikoden is based on "Water Margin" which is known to be one of the "Big 4" of chinese novels together with Journey to the West. Its about 108 outlaws that have gathered on Mount Liang to escape prosecution, and together they rebel against the government.
mhw transformers is wild LMAO
What ?
Nah that's tame, the Monster Hunter series is known for its weird collabs like in Monster Hunter 2 they had a Pizza Hut collab
It would be more badass if they let us hunt megatron or starscream。
Yes, Bleach Rebirth of Souls is a fighting game. There is actual gameplay released already. There have been character reveals weekly I believe. It is not a gacha or mobile game. It is planned to release on Xbox Series S/X, PS4/5, and PC.
