Thanks, Richard! I've also been overfeeding to my Sulawesi shrimp tank for a while under a strong system of filtration (this is important as you mentioned a way by water change), and the same result. It will increase the rate of survival of baby shrimps, and help those species of Sulawesi shrimp who act slowly to get food more easily. A really great hint for shrimp keepers to get a rolling pin in the toolbox, although we usually use it to make dumplings in China, don't let Mom see :D

I do the same thing but with my plant trimmings, rather than compost my trimmed plants - I simply dry them out on parchment and then grind them to a powder. paper towels will soak up valuable liquid nutrients. so i use parchment.

I fed my baby shrimp almost the same way I take dried blood worms and fish flakes and grind them in a homemade mortar and pestle take that powder and mix it in a small dish with water and then mix it up again and squirt it in with a small pipette, this was on my second round of cherry babies. My first wave of babies there was only 3 or so that made it to a reasonable size and the second had 13 with the pipette feeding.

Exactly the finding from my shrimp tanks. The one breeding is the one I feed every day. Theres ever any food left after the rabbit snails have been there.
I tried cutting down this week and they were ravenous last night as you saw!
    Great video.

Idk if anyone can help or give any advice here, wanted to let my tank cycle for another month or 2… went to a store and grabbed some plants for my tank, and when I got home I noticed a cherry shrimp running around in the bag that had my plants. Immediately thought about driving back to the store but with Phoenix traffic , I wouldn’t have made it in time. I acclimated the 1 cherry shrimp and then let him free in my tank. So far so good, but just worried about if he’ll be ok as a single shrimp. He’s colored up so much in just 1 day but still want to take the best care of my free friend that I can.

I've got a community tank the only clean up crew I have are three Bamboo Shrimp and must have over 100 Cherry shrimp, the water is gin clear, I do weekly water checks and only change if needed. I feed ground up fish food along with shrimp pellets, I make sure some sinks around the tank, babies! all over the tank 😊 they keep it so clean. Only down side is my Betta goes on the hunt sometimes, he's not very good at catching them as I've put two many hiding places and it's full of plants/moss👍

I don't use a spice grinder just because it needs to be a fish food only purchase. You can't switch between coffee and fish food😅. I just use a mortar and pestle to powder food for my nano fish and shrimp.

I have subscribed to Mark's shrimp tanks because of your podcast. Thank you for doing it. I was watching a video where Mark used suction cups and skewers to basically make a wall of moss. I know that this would increase the area for biofilm to grow, but I'm wondering if it would help the babies find food and cover more easily. Also, it would help the filtration. What are your thoughts about this? Mark got the idea from another podcaster, but I don't remember the person's name. I'm new to shrimp keeping, so any ideas that you have would be of great help to me. Also, even though I haven't finished reading your book, I really like it. Sorry for the long rambling post.

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to comment. It’s always appreciated. Marks videos are top notch and I’m glad you’ve subscribed to his channel.
The moss on suction cups idea is great. it will provide both hiding places for the babies and additional surface area for biofilm to grow on. Plus, as you say, the moss will help purify the water as it grows. It creates a win-win-win situation 🥳

I keep Red Galaxy. I feed only once a week. This is their third batch of babies in 3 months. I feed them Shrimp King 5 in 1 from Denerle. I don t know how important is the times of feeding. I think the food quality plays the major role.

Thanks for the information. I didn't realize baby shrimp might be so still at the beginning. I've got two fluval h.o.b. .5 gallon breeder boxes with 10 blue shrimp in each of them. One is connected to a 45 gall tank and one to a 20g tank. I might try to implement this mentality. It's been about two months with my oldest batch, only seen one berried female come and go but have not witnessed babies yet. Fingers crossed🤞for both you and I. -Cesar
