It blows me away that the Worst Generation pirates were last minute additions. Maybe Oda had some concept of what the Generation would become, but to incorporate characters like Law, Bonney, and Drake flawlessly into the story in ways that makes sense is truly masterful. Even more so if they were actual last minute additions.

He had a lot of time to think about them, though: after Sabaody we got Impel Down, Marineford and Fishman Island before we were able to know something more. Still impressed, he's capable of connecting an insane amount of dots and even finding details throughout hundreds of chapters to link them somewhere in a convincing way. That's some next level worldbuilding skills.

    • @ryumple

@@mattia_carciola Yes, but even in the case of Law, Oda made his Jolly Roger clearly associated with Doflamingo’s Jolly Roger that we saw in Jaya. I’m pretty sure Doffy also mentioned the Smiles in Saboady as well. Obviously, Oda focused on Law’s story the most, to the point that I believe some version of Law was always planned but the editors said to make more rivals. Either way, my point is highlight Oda’s masterful storytelling. although I wish the name “Nika” appeared more in the story before Wano. There was always “sun” foreshadowing in the series. My favorite being Blackbeard saying “Sun vs Darkness. Who will win!” Except Ace had a fake “sun” where as Luffy is the real “sun.”

Bonney is 12 now, so before timeskip she was 10, and we know as a fact that by then she was already cured. So that's at least a good thing for Kuma's life, he was able to keep that promise

Kuma is gonna repel the disease from bonny once he finds out Vega punk cant cure it (or he can cure it but the solution is to become a cyborg) and take it into himself. Kuma will then volunteer to become a cyborg because he is gonna die anyways and wants some part of him to look after bonny. Kuma explaining earlier that when he repels pain it has to go somewhere is a chekhov's gun that needs to play some part

Well... Damn

      @hakon_helgoy 10 месяцев назад +2

My thoughts exactly. This Bonney is a clone and the real Bonney has been dead for years.
Furthermore, the clone theory makes Bonneys age even wierder. Since she'd be mentally twelve and biologically between seven and four.
Because of all of that, her age-age powers might be required for her not to realise what happened.

If the train doesn’t have any bumps or delays this is a very likely possibility and would give Kuma precedence that he can pull out memories along with pain. Big question is how did Vegapunk contain it since the pain bubbles have to go somewhere so vegapunk and kuma must’ve been working together for a bit till the memory bubble preservation technology could be perfected. Wonder who was the Guinea pig for this experimentation, maybe vegapunk with his vast knowledge was used to take out small bits for experimentation.

It could be a ship of Theseus thing where Dr Vegapunk kept replacing Bonney's afflicted body parts with cloned body parts immune to the disease, and Kuma removing her memory of the treatments to save her from the trauma until there was nothing left of the original Bonney. This would explain Vegapunk's earlier quote on seeing her as real although others would say she isnt due to only having clone parts in the present day

This Ginny-Kuma-Bonny storyline is so heartbreaking yet so interesting with respect to One Piece lore.
-the Sapphire disease is made worse by sunlight and moonlight
-Kuma fancying himself as Nika the Sun God
-then there is moonlight and the minks and sulong
-if the disease is some kind kind of STD passed around by Celestial Dragons then I am guessing there's a subset of CD that have the disease and therefore have to be isolated
-this also brings new significant to the masks that CD wear...what if they they actually certain weaknesses and the pride of not wanting to breath mortal air is just an excuse?
-also Jewellery Bonney creates gems as she uses her DF powers...any connections with the gem on her face?
Man to say that I am overwhelmed and loving every moment of Oda's writing is an understatement.

The gorosei in particular seem a lot less impulsive and desire driven than the rest of the celestials with how they've been carrying themselves. I can't imagine they care much about personal pleasure. They very much seem all about maintaining any order that falls under Imu's whims. I think deeper connections with Kuma and why Bonney is so mad at him in particular is because isn't because of Ginny but simply because he might've been the one to order/make Kuma submit to a deal of losing his consciousness to be a weapon and eventually just ordering him to be a tool for the lesser Celestials.

The other one is that similar to Law her devil fruit is the cure to her disease, as in she is still sick, but she can change her body back to when she didnt have anything, or a future form when she doesnt have it. Or maybe her fruit just changes her on a biological level meaning she can heal any disease in her own body.

Saturn being the one to propose the warlord / experiment deal would fit perfectly since that’s his domain. Science and defense. Wouldn’t be surprised if the pacifists thing was his idea to begin with that he was sitting on because there was never a specimen good enough. Hell, he could’ve been thinking of Kumas potential way back in god valley. A scientist at heart cares about innovation over everything else and would’ve seen killing a buccaneer with a cracked devil fruit as a waste. “If he’s capable enough to escape, let him cook and see if he can’t be a useful resource to us later” especially since he’s so kindhearted and easy to manipulate.
Which is currently a similar sentiment to what he has on egghead. He might be thinking the same damn thing right now. He’s impressed by the strawhats and that’s why he said he wants to see if they can escape. Because that means they’re capable enough to use as weapons since they’re both strong and all kindhearted

He could also possible teleport him seomwhere else or do a huge Ursa Shock that he’s been collecting during this travel.

We have seen bonneys ability alternate future already i believe her age age fruit has the ability to rewind herself to before the scales showed up. Therefor bonney still has sapphire scale and isnt cured but gas the ability to overcome it by rewinding herself continuously.😊

Dr. Vegapunk DID clone Bonney without the sapphire scale, and then Kuma used his powers to push the memories out of the sick Bonney and then they put the memories into the cloned body???? to go along with the clone idea. Another way we could spin this is that Vega punk just creates a new body for Bonny and Kuma just use his devil fruit to pass along all her memories/soul into the new body. Leaving the diseased body behind in favor for a new, disease free, body.

  • @catriamflockentanz

16:37 Maybe the clone of Bonney idea isn't that bad after all. Create multiple clones without the disease and little by little replace the diseased body parts of Bonney with the healthy ones. -> Sort of what Kuriba Ryouko did to herself in the Double Existence Arc of a A certain scientific Railgun.
18:38 Even without any prior relation. Using Bonney's continued treatment/life as leverage to turn Kuma against the Revolutionaries is tempting for Saturn/the World Government as a whole anyway.

If I remember correctly, Saturn is the Roman name for Kronos, the Titan father of the Olympians. So with Saturn's standing, Bonney is an 'Olympian' and her power is representative of 'Time' she might be a variation of 'Chronos' the God of Time. In Greek Myth, Kronos ate his children to protect his power.

Vegapunk definitely pulled a Mr. Freeze and froze Bonnie until he could find a cure for her. In the meantime, kuma became a tyrant/robot (meaning he hasn't seen her as an adult yet), and Vega built up his lab into what we see today. This would explain how Bonnie can both meet Vega ~20 years ago and yet still be 10 or 11 years old. If Vegapunk offered Kuma this or cloning, I think I know which he would pick.

it's starting to baffle me a little bit how people are ignoring that possibility. If she can alter her future using that fruit and enter different versions of herself, it shouldn't even be close to be beyond the realm of reasoning that she can control the age of the sapphire scales with that fruit....
I'm always questioning how she got that fruit and we know it falls in between her being between the ages of 5-10, since she doesn't have it in the flashback at age 5 but does have it pre timeskip at age 10.
I'm personally just really against the clone theory i guess. I don't want oda to go the route of everyone can be brought back to life via cloning... I remember Naruto near it's end with the third great war and how it was re-animated cropses coming back in droves to fight the living. Not clones, but the whole concept of, bring out yer dead ruined that show for me. I hated that war and everything after the Naruto vs pain arc.

I heard a theory (maybe from GrandLineReview) that, similarly to how the Ope Ope no Mi was used to cure Law of Amber Lead disease, that the Toshi Toshi no Mi will be the means by which Bonnie is cured of Sapphire Scale.
Since Bonnie has the ability to alter her physical age, perhaps she was able to “reset” her body to a state before she contracted it and then she herself back up without it? Or since she has the ability to access “warped future” versions of herself, maybe she used the fruit to access a version of herself where she never got sick in the first place?
As for how Vegapunk could still be involved: a) he had the fruit and was studying it. B) his people found it for Kuma. C) Vegapunk tried to cure Bonnie but didn’t have the means at the time, so Saturn involves himself and presents the fruit to Kuma.

I'm still in the camp that Ivankov will be the one who has to save Bonney with the hormone fruit. Vegapunk knows the abilities of the Devil Fruits, and keeps in contact with Dragon. At this point, it's possible for Ivankov to have it and is using it. Vegapunk has Ivan use the fruit to change Bonney's DNA, just like he did with Luffy. This might also explain how Ivankov is captured and thrown into Impel Down.
