I'm 67 now, and I remember seeing a rusty item on the ground when I was 5ish. I fell in love with it. My mom was ok with it until I picked up a rusty blade and cut myself. She never let me collect after that. But , my love of all things rusty never went away. I love getting ideas from you, so I can give them a different life. Thanks a rusty bunch.
I collect everything rusty. I found 2 great rusty trunks at a garage sale recently. My friends think I am nuts because I have jars of rusty bits and pieces and hundreds of rusty bottle caps. 😊🤗😚😙😗❤❤❤
@@OurUpcycledLife I had an art teacher back in the 70s that had a beautiful collection of rusty things. I didn't get it at the time. I have big plastic jars and plastic bins full of rusty goodies. I love the parking lot at my local flea market where I find tons of flattened rusty bottle caps. 😊🤗😚😙😗❤❤❤
Love the rust! To get the "non-Rusty" paper clip to fit more appropriately with the gorgeous rusty grater- a shot of rust coloured primer would do the trick, maybe ? Thanks for this inspiration!!!
Ohhhhhhhh, you are the THRIFT QUEEN! I dearly love all your projects. Excellent editing. I appreciate the music only being played when you are not giving instructions. I can’t wait to go to the flea market. I like to use rusty hinges to make cool necklaces. Looking forward to your next video,

Oh my gosh! You outdid yourself recycling those rusty bits. Everything looked amazing when you finished them. Project 4, nails on a glass jar. You blew me away with that one. I love doing small florals for my booth. That little vase will add just the right touch. I think there are some rusty nails in my pole building. I might even put some Christmas greenery in a few. Thank you for sharing the rusty junk projects.
I love old, rusty things, too! Isn’t it funny that some people look at them as junk, and the rest of us are trying to find these treasured objects or trying to make newer things look rustic like them?
Oh Deidra, how did you know...I love all the rusty stuff and am currently going through nails. Always look forward to your next tutorial, you have such creative ideas. I really like the bread pan idea with the handle, that turned out really cute!
I really enjoyed these. I really thought you were going to make a pumpkin out of the first rusty loaf pan. I loved that you surprised me and glued everything together differently. I had to watch with no sound. My husband is snoring away next to me. 😂
Thank you so much for sharing your items it's very nice and creative. If you want to get rid of rust I think you mix half and half , water and white vinegar and let it soak for about 5 minutes and it removes rust. I guess that depends on how Rusty it is I read about that on tools anyway just a thought but I like the way you're doing this it looks good 👍🏽👍🏽
5 minute epoxy is a fast curing adhesive for metal to metal/ wood when you don’t want the E6000 flex. I use it to attach handle scales to knives I make. Give it a shot.
A lot of times if things have been left outside they will rust on their own or if you find projects that you would like to rust yourself you can use toilet bowl cleaner or peroxide and salt lots of different ideas
I use hot melt, for instant location of the item. Combined with other various glues for strength, all the time with zero issues. I guess it needs to be clarified. You put the E6000, and the hot melt in 2 different locations. The hot melt instantly holds, and then the E6000 dries and holds for strength. If you glob them both together, of course the idea won't work.
I love liquid nail I've been in drywall forever I just love it you can hang sheetrock with it we did and a magnetic images building because they could not have any metal so the sheetrock had to be glued up liquid nail holds it stuff is great 👍🏽
If I’m always looking for ideas I had to Pinterest sometimes you can find some inspiration over there I would probably fill it with a nice plant or some greenery
My tubes of E6000 look like yours! I did figure out one day to take one of those key-like things you get with paint to open the can, I put it at the bottom and roll it up. I needed more glue once and the store was closed!
All this crap😂🤣😂 I had to laugh every time you said that it was so funny I loved every project I thought it was so cool very industrial thank you for the great ideas Deidre God bless
Love these ideas! Do you have any suggestions on what I can use my old, rusty, small oiling cans for? They're adorable but they need a little something more.

Hi!!! I'm fairly new to your channel and love everything that you do. Is it possible you go over some of the handy tools most useful to you. I'm barely starting to work on wood crafts... just need guidance as to what kind of sanding machine, sanding paper, glues, drill, etc. Just tools that you love and work with all the time 😀 thank you!
I love your crafts or up cycles but not sure anyone in my family would want them 😢. I live in one room at my daughters house, it’s hard to want to do things like that and can’t. I’m trying to get ready for a church bazaar and it’s been hard. Plus this week I have a 4 tiered wedding cake, my last wedding cake. I’m a bit insane 😂this week. Happy rusty up cycling.
@@OurUpcycledLife that is my official title “cake decorator “. I’m only doing this last wedding cake for my oldest brother’s grandson’s wedding. I don’t feel old inside but, lol, my body begs to differ.
I found a very rusty pizza pan today. After watching this I have some inspiration to try using it. Thanks 😊. Love everything you made today. I love that turquoise paint you used. Was it just called turquoise?
Wonderful ideas, again so inspiring, thank you for sharing, Take are and stay safe. I have a question: How do you decide when to put a regular clear sealer or motor enamel ?
Are use my engine enamel when I need to really seal some thing with a nice strong coating like coasters or something that’s going to have a lot of use otherwise I will just use a poly acrylic sealer
I have a pair of rusted garden fork and spade with little pots hanging from them. They are outside against my wall and I was thinking I would like to dicky them up a bit. Do I scrape most of the rust off and use primer to seal it, or can I just go ahead and paint over the rust and then seal it?
Yes I use 2 cups of hydrogen peroxide 4 tablespoons of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of salt mix it together and then just pour it over your project and sit out in the sun
Hi, I just came across your channel. I like it, even though I live quite differently than you. I follow the "minimalist" lifestyle, and I am preparing to fit everything I own into a single - albeit very large - backpack. I want to live away from civilization in the near future... But I like the effort to make and create as much as possible for ourselves, because the cavemen, whom I consider to be role models, also lived this way. So, I recently made my own portable wood burning stove! In the hotel where I worked, they just replaced 6 small gas boilers... which means that the old units were thrown in the trash. And each of them was held by a metal "bracket" both at the bottom and at the top, which, however, is cut out in a semicircle in one place because the chimney pipe went there... I looked at it and said to myself, "Oh, this looks just like a stove 'entrance'"! I immediately dismantled them all (although I only need 4 of them) and after that I only needed a few screws and a little ingenuity to make my own stove out of them, which can also be disassembled easily at any time so it fits in a small space... Okay, of course, it's ugly. BUT THAT'S WHY I LOVE IT! It screams that it's UNIQUE, that I made it, it is not some cheap Chinese crap... And even if it's ugly, it's very robust. I tried it, and I can sit on it with my weight of 82 kilos, and it doesn't even creak under me... well, even one of these had to hold a boiler of at least 30 kilos and the water in it, and here, if I sit on it, 4 of these have to hold only 82 kilos, i.e. me. (That is, it can even be used as a small chair if absolutely necessary). You would never put up with this with a camping stove bought from, say, Amazon... Another recycling project I just finished is making myself a leather belt bag. I found a leather jacket in very good condition on the bank of the ditch, but it was too small for me. I washed it, cut out a suitable piece where the pocket is, folded it back, glued it, sewed it, etc. - even though I'm a 57-year-old man, I didn't feel the sewing work was unworthy of me - and now I have a gorgeous leather belt bag! The pocket originally had a button, I replaced it with a piece of bone that I drilled in 2 places, it fits better with the "primitive design" that I like so much. Oh, and I have actually not only one but 2 such belt bags because the jacket had 2 pockets... In fact, I even made myself a fork, too. The raw material for this was the leg bone of a roadkill deer (of course I disinfected it thoroughly inside and out), this became the handle of the fork, the two teeth of that fork are two canines of a pig. It looks gorgeous, I'm sure people will stare at it when I start eating with it somewhere, but at the same time it's extremely durable and practical, that's for sure because I use it regularly!
