- I received a free MacBook a short time ago, and figured I'd have my first go at upgrading a laptop. I put a 250GB WD Blue SSD and some RAM from Other World Computing. But how easy is it for a novice like me? And does it speed this old computer up? Let's find out!

I was given the black version of this MacBook; I really like how it's built; too bad can't upgrade it to today's connectivity.
After watching your video, you got me motivated to do similar upgrades. Thank you for your time and efforts and putting out this video.
OMG! My laptop turned on after YEARS thanks to you! I’m so excited and beyond grateful-thank you so much for sharing this!!!!
I wish new MacBooks were like this🤧 I also just found your channel, and I’m definitely gonna be patient for more videos :3

This is the content I've been waiting for.
Why don’t you just put snow leopard on a usb and do it that way??? Or are you not able to?
Because in Apple's infinite wisdom you cannot boot from USB You can only load the operating system from the CD drive
And also I have the os 10.6 restore image for you if you need it.
Can’t he just use a usb to restore that new add with snow leopard???
@@TheHipHopolypse if it won’t boot from usb no
@@JYKDutchYTwell I’m buying a new hard drive just like his WD BLUE 250gb for my A1181 “Core 2 Dup” Black MacBook. Can’t I take snow leopard, throw it on a usb thumb drive and put the new drive in and use that FLASH DRIVE to install it on the new SSD? Or do I seriously NEED to have that DVD or go the cloning route? Let me know. Thanks dude!!!
@@TheHipHopolypse You might need a program called refit to make it boot from USB because 2006,7,8 macbooks A1181 don't boot from USB
@@JYKDutchYTare you saying the only way to do it when you’ve put in a completely NEW hard drive is with a Apple OS DVD Restore disc? Like the ones that came with the MacBooks?
I was given a white MacBook 2007 2gb ram and 160gb had and I upgraded the hdd to a 320 go hdd (temporary until I can get an ssd) and also upgraded the ram to 3gb as my other ram stick was borked. I installed 2 Linux distros and a Mac OS lion partition and all works just as good as my main laptop with RUclips videos and web browsing and even light weight iMovie editing 😂
Taking out the battery clears CMOS/SMC and wifi passwords are stored in there
