    It's as if the Packers purposely low-balled Jones to end the relationship. Then they sign Jacobs at double what they offered Jones. No wonder Jones went to a rival. I bet he took a pay cut from other offers to go to a rival. Typical recent Packer BS. Penny-wise, obsessed with age. Same BS with D Adams, Z Smith, Sitton & Lang, Micah Hyde, Linsley, all performing at a high level with new teams. Releasing Mason Crosby worked out too, right? Is it just a coincidence so many of these guys go to division rivals? And, people were gushing about how good Love looked at the end of the season. Maybe they should have noticed Jones had come back from injury and dominated.

    • @dudelove69

      U couldnt be more clueless. Jacobs cap hit is 5.5, jones woulda been at 17.5 mill without the pay cut they asked him to take which was between 7 and 9 which was more than he got from the vikes

    • @mhartan
      @mhartan 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@dudelove69I didn't suggest Jones' contract (and therefore the cap hit) shouldn't have been re-negotiated. Maybe if Gutekunst didn't lie to us all about keeping Jones, it would be more ethically acceptable. I bet the Packers knew Jacobs could be signed when they dumped Jones (which may have been a violation), otherwise they would have acted very differently by negotiating in good faith. Open your eyes. Jones signed with the Vikings immediately, without even testing the market. Jones wants two games a year to embarrass the Packers, whom he loved. Feelings like that don't arise in a vacuum. Signed, Clueless.

      @@mhartan it wasnt a lie... that was the plan. When jones refused to accept a pay cut, gutey pivoted like a good gm should. Im as pissed as anyone jones is gone but he shoulda just taken the cut and stayed and make more than hes gonna make in minny. Jacobs was signed before jones was released by at least an hour. Many people thought there was gonna be a 2 headed monster rb tandem. • @saintdragon
      @saintdragon 6 месяцев назад

      @@dudelove69 Funny how you call @mhartan "clueless" and then proceed to write so much ignorant crap. First of all, you don't seem to understand the difference between cap hit and cash. Jacobs' cap hit is about 5.3M but he got a 12.5M signing bonus whose cap hit is going to spread out over 4 years, which results in 3.1M for 2024. That, plus other bonuses and a 1.2M base salary, it's the 5.3M. But Jacobs is making 14.8M cash this year.
      Aaron was set to make around 12M cash in 2024, most from his 11.1M base salary. His 17M cap hit was due to those numbers + a previous pro-rated bonus. GB wanted him to take a pay cut down to less than 4M base salary and 2M in incentives. That's a 50% pay cut, maybe more depending if the incentives were reachable by himself or were more about team goals.
      So, 1. GB is indeed paying more than double for Jacobs than what they offered to Jones: 14.8M vs up to 6M. And 2. You are lying by saying they offered 7-9M and he took less money from Minnesota, that offered 6M base and 1M in incentives. Oh and BTW, 3. GB low-balled Davante Adams by offering less than 20M a year before they decided to franchise-tag him, when he had already made his mind about going to Vegas. GB only raised his offer after that, but Adams felt disrespected. And rightfully so, being the #1 WR in the league.
      Therefore, it's you who couldn't be more clueless. Try learning some facts first before you come around calling names and exposing yourself as the pretentious ignorant u are.

      In a league where being a "1000 yard rusher" isn't even that noteworthy anymore (compared to the 90's), Jones had 650 yards and 2 TDs this season. The Packers got to the playoffs DESPITE him, not because of him (though, granted, once IN the playoffs he had some amazing production)
      Green Bay fan - Green Bay NATIVE, in fact - and I love the guy. But he significantly underperformed his contract. There's a reason that - once released by GB - he didn't hit the market and break-the-bank as a free agent.

We don't think like GMs and if GMs did what us fans want to do they'd be fired because you can't run a team based on feelings. Jones has become injury prone. When one injury went away, another popped right up to keep him out longer. I wouldn't even mind keeping Jones anyway but Gutey has to answer to people who are gonna ask him why he's wasting money on players who can't stay healthy. Just saying if Vikings draft one of the 4 top QBs AND BLAKE at RB, it’s OVER. Vikings will win the NFC pretty easy. The nfc took a step back. Far as eagles and 49ers. The nfc NOW owns the NFC. All 4 teams will be damn good!!! Packers getting Jacobs makes them a good offense now. If they draft a WR and hit on that, they will have a great offense. Lions are great but losing there safety will hurt them even though he didn’t play all year except 3 games. The bears will keep Justin in my opinion and add another linemen and WR and that give Justin what he wants. Bears will have many future picks as well.
