Excellent lecture. TY. LMN are motor neurons directly supplying the muscle from anterior horn of spinal cord.. Found in ventral motor root and consists of alpha and (30%) gamma motor root. UMN are tracts that descend from the brain or the brain stem and effect the LMN directly or indirectly via the internuncial neurons. UMNs have inhibitory effect on LMNs.
corticospinal tract become functional only after their constituent fibre become myelinated . and myelination of corticospinal tract start 10-14 days after birth and completed by the end of 1 year . so in children upto 1 year babinski's sign is present normally .
