Jen, I love your kimono and you’re so creative to make it out of a shower curtain!! You have such a happy, upbeat way of doing videos that makes them enjoyable. I also love your little bit of Jesus at the end. The world could use a lot more of Jesus, so it’s great that you share this with us!
Thank you so much! God had one of those nagging "you need to do this" things in my head for a long time and I am always so grateful for any encouragement I hear to keep going. I think Robyn from Robyn's Love of Sewing was who God used for that! She found the prayer cards - so I had to. It's sure a blessing to me, glad it is to you too!
I like your duster better than the one on the envelope. It’s nice to see things made up and the modifications because I would never consider this pattern but I think I would like it made the way you did. Thank you for the inspirational at the end.
Taking off some length from those big skirts can save so much fabric! I just finished a dress out of 2 1/2 yards, and removing the extra length allowed me to get a midi dress with bracelet sleeves, even though I had stripes to deal with! Plus, it's so much easier to do it at this stage than after the skirt is done 😊
I love your Kimono and just bought the pattern and some fabric from Stonemountan & Daughter to make the longer version like yours. You are very inspirational! ❤
That Vogue pattern, can’t wait to see it, it’s on my short list. I’ve admired it for awhile now. Those pockets! They did pockets right in the 40’s for sure.
Hi Jen. It seems forever ago that I watched one of your videos. One of our sons got married three weeks ago and I had the huge honour of making the wedding dress. Now you will appreciate the time that goes into that and especially as I did not have a pattern, only an inspiration photo and some incredibly expensive 100% Italian silk. Anyway, now that's out of the way, I can start catching up on other things. I've had my eye on that kimono pattern. It's autumn here in New Zealand, and a kimono will be ideal as a cover for dresses, etc. I actually made the tiered McCalls skirt back on the day. Gosh, if only we could get 99 cent patterns here. To buy the big 4 patterns, they cost mid $20 or so much more, and thats NZD. Take care ❤
@TodayinJensSewingRoom Thank you 😊 and it was biased cut too!!! I really enjoyed the process. Made three mock ups, one out of a sheet, finessed that style in a calico and then finessed that into one in cheap satin. Had to get the fit spot on before I cut the silk. Only had one shot at it. She looked so stunning. The style suited her down to the ground. I admit that I had a few emotional moments that day and seeing her walk into the chapel was amazing. If I could post you a photo on here I would. Take care❤️
Florida's warming up?! Well that's a sentence that has made me very happy indeed 😎. That Kimono is so pretty and floaty, great for stage as you said but so wearable for any occasion. You did a great job with those two fabrics ❤ That cute little blouse is going to be so pretty with the gingham skirt, I love the lines on that 👏🏼. 😢Missing the Expo by one week, I'm blaming Katie for being born on the wrong day 😂. I have great memories from last year though. It was such fun to meet everyone, hope you have fun this year and I will see YOU very soon 😘🥰. Xx
Will be at Expo next year. Was hoping to be there this year, but it wasn't in God's timing for me. Moving to the Palm Bay area, south of Melbourne, FL - south of Cocoa, FL. Hope to be a FL resident by end of May. 🤞🏻
Well hurry up and get over here! We have an ocean and we'll trade you a cold one for a warm one! You'll be close to Trish. When I visit her I'll definitely be visiting you too!
Working on getting there. Working on downsizing for the eventual move. So much to go through - keep, donate, give away, throw away, undecided, etc. Bet my ocean here is colder than yours! 🤣@@TodayinJensSewingRoom
Love the kimono and all the things you have and will be sewing. Everything is so pretty. Well we are down in Florida. Trip this time was a rough one with major detour, road work, very very heavy rain through most of S. Carolina to Florida.,many traffic delays. What normally takes us 9-10 hours took us over 12 hours. Here though & unpacked & sewing space about 90% set up. Spent time with family last night & looking forward to more of it and wonderful time in Florida.
Love what you did with your kimono! The easter dress is going to be so cute. Ive made that pattern back in my beginner days and it was pretty easy. I should have lengthened the bodice because I am low waisted. Looking forward to your visit and the expo!!! Love you❤❤
Like you I'm known as a worrier. I have recently, after looking back at different times of my life, thought about what worrying actually accomplished. Of course I only prayed about things when I felt things couldn't get worse without a total collapse. Well, many times things collapsed as they were only to be built differently and after a time saw that things were, for me, better. I also worry a lot about my adult children but I'm learning to just pray about them and let it go. Not easy but I'm getting better. God bless you!!
I love the duster cardigan. I have that pattern and want to make it soon after seeing yours. The things you have cut out are going to be beautiful. I always learn from your tips. And the scripture and explanation is one of my favorites. Have a great week ❤ Diann
Love the kimono! I’m also a Levi’s girl and have been since I was a teenager. They just fit me! I won’t be at the Expo this year and already having serious FOMO. But I hope you have a great time - I’ll be there in spirit. Xx 💞
We will miss you. And what is it about Levi's? Must be that L-shaped crotch curve. I know they changed it up in recent years but you just can't beat those oldies. I do love the fit.
Love, love, love the kimono. Unfortunately, simplicity patterns aren't available here in Canada. I do know someone spending time in Texas. Hopefully, she can pick up one for me. There hasn't been any kind of sewing expo close to me since before the Covid shut down. Maybe someday. The gingham skirt will pair perfectly with the pretty top.
Well you were missed! Although I wasn't that impressed with the Expo this year - last year was much better and the year before that was the same. And I'm speaking of the exhibit hall - although my goodness the quilt display was spectacular. Some people are beyond talented.
Jen:I love the kimono shirt jacket! I love Laura Ashley patterns. I saved most that I purchased way back… has it really been that long ago?! We are so so young😊
Hi Jen, the kimono looks great on you - I must cut out my pattern, which I’ve had some time, and get on with it! Sending good luck wishes with regard to the beautiful wedding dress and hope all goes well with it! Kind regards from Penny 🇬🇧😊💕
Hi Jen! It will unfortunately be a no-go for me at the EXPO this year. I'm so glad I got to see everyone last year though. To everyone going this year, I'm sure you'll have a great time!!!
Hi Jen! That transformed shower curtain looks beautiful on you. Jen, how do you drop a waistline on fabric that is already cut? I've heard people say that and wondered how to do that. 😊
I get my NYDJ from eBay. I won’t pay the prices from their site but I’ve gotten perfect condition jeans for not a lot and I always check the shipping charges.
Anything that calls for knits. Something that tells you on the envelope or in the description that you need 4-way stretch - t-shirts, some dresses, active wear, swimsuits - that would be my advice.
The kimono is so pretty! I love the fabric for the Vogue pattern and look forward to seeing the finished result.
Isn't that Vogue pattern gorgeous? I can't wait to see how it turns out. So pretty.

Ong… I love 501’s. That’s what I grew up wearing. They fit me great too!
Your kimono is cute!
Thank you!! 😊

So true!
I love your Kimono and just bought the pattern and some fabric from Stonemountan & Daughter to make the longer version like yours. You are very inspirational! ❤
Wonderful! I hope it turns out stunning!
That linen blouse is adorable! Anxious to see your makes soon! Enjoy Summer. We in Wisconsin are having a record warm Winter, but not 80degrees yet. 🥰
Gotta get busy - and it's not summer yet, just spring - so I'm sure you'll have sunshine, humidity and mosquitoes soon!
I just found you tonight. I so wish that I had been able to some to the EXPO in March. That prompted me to subscribe. Maybe next year!!
Welcome! I'm so glad you're here!
Very nice , ♥️ it , i also have this very beautiful sewing pattern 😊
That Vogue pattern, can’t wait to see it, it’s on my short list. I’ve admired it for awhile now. Those pockets! They did pockets right in the 40’s for sure.
No kidding. I do love the 40's fashion!

You made a wedding gown with no pattern out of Italian silk? HOLY COW. You are amazing!
@TodayinJensSewingRoom Thank you 😊 and it was biased cut too!!! I really enjoyed the process. Very soon! Looking forward to a day with you and Trish! Is Andra going to make it down? That would be wonderful.
Love your kimono inspired duster. Definitely works better at the longer length.
Totally agree. ❤️
Super-cute duster! Love the length! Can’t wait to see your Easter dress! 😘💗
Thank you! 🤗 Getting started tonight on the dress - 😘❤️
I love the added length of your kimono! I've made this pattern but made it as designed. Yours looks so good!
Yay, thank you! If I make it again I'm definitely doing it this length.
Jen, the kimono is fabulous. Beautiful prints together. Can't wait to see the gingham skirt with the cute linen blouse. You have such good ideas. ❤
I need to hurry up and make it, I want to wear it right now!

Oh man can't wait! ❤️😘
Fun episode, love it when you show the pattern line drawings and the finished garment .
Glad you enjoyed it!
I will be at the Sewing Expo and would love to meet up. Really impressed with your Kimono and the fabric combination.
Wonderful! I'll see you there!
I love this!!!!!!!! beautiful.
Thank you so much!

It sure doesn't come naturally, does it? But we can do it!
I love Levi 505s. Love the duster cardigan and the adjustments you made..
Thanks so much!

You are such a doll. ❤️

I'm officially intrigued by men's Levi's now. They look great on you. I'm more straight through the waist/hip, so I should really try that.
You should. Makes a huge difference. I try jeans a lot and always go back to Levi's because of that fit.
Well bummer. I hope you can get your hands on this pattern because it's a good one!
Wish I could come. Love your show.
Well you were missed! Although I wasn't that impressed with the Expo this year - last year was much better and the year before that was the same. And I'm speaking of the exhibit hall - although my goodness the quilt display was spectacular. Some people are beyond talented.

I totally agree! We are incredibly young! Right now! 😂❤️

Thank you! You will love this kimono. So easy, fast, and cute!
Hi Jen! The only days i will be at the expo are Wednesday all-day class and Thursday walking the expo. Sorry to miss seeing you, maybe next time.!
Next time! I don't think I'll be there prior to Friday, but have a great time!
I just got the same Chanel pattern. Great minds!
You'd look fantastic in that jacket
Hi Jen! It will unfortunately be a no-go for me at the EXPO this year. I'm so glad I got to see everyone last year though. To everyone going this year, I'm sure you'll have a great time!!!
You will be missed!
Thanks, Jen...
I was looking at those 3 patterns yesterday.
Ah, but did you buy them? This is the critical question 😁
Hi Jen I'll be there. Cheryl 🇨🇦
Cheryl! I'll see you then! Glad you're back down!
Going to Lakeland!
🙌
If a fabric is washable a can if heavy spray starch will make naughty fabrics behave...
Funny - I thought of that after the fact. But I will be using it when I start sewing! Thanks!
Hi Jen! That transformed shower curtain looks beautiful on you. Jen, how do you drop a waistline on fabric that is already cut? I've heard people say that and wondered how to do that. 😊
Already cut? Can't do it. You'll have to cut an entirely new bodice. 😢
I get my NYDJ from eBay. I won’t pay the prices from their site but I’ve gotten perfect condition jeans for not a lot and I always check the shipping charges.
Same - I get a lot of stuff from Ebay and I'm always happy. Cheaper than regular retail, that's for sure!
Question sewing world, l have 4 way stretch how do I cut it out and what type of dress can l make. Have never used this fabric.
Anything that calls for knits. Something that tells you on the envelope or in the description that you need 4-way stretch - t-shirts, some dresses, active wear, swimsuits - that would be my advice.
Need those 32+ length in pants, especially jeans since they shrink
Definitely!
Did you find the kimono pattern to be too big? I made one and had to take it in a few times
Not at all, mine was fine.
