#fridaysews #projectdressagirl2024 Update: Hobby Lobby, how you vex me so! After a check on the website for some details, the fabric I got is linen "colored," and mostly cotton with some polyester. It even says "not for upholstery." OK it was on a long tube with all the upholstery and it said linen on the bolt/tube. What in the world! It's all good because it's still what I wanted for weight and color, but hey, false advertising! I hate it when I'm duped and huge thanks to Antonia for pointing this out. Still not changing the thumbnail, though. Lies! Hobby Lobby shame on you! Love your little girl dresses! Love the turquoise dress on the mannequin! So sew pretty! Kudos to you for trying to save a frustrating project, but also knowing when to move on from it!😂 How cool to find a fabric that will go with your thrifted blouse. 🎊 We even had some storm related weather/power/telecommunications issues from Helene in Ohio! 😵💫
Oooo I love that colour linen and it is going to make that wonderful outfit and skirt ❤. That was a great spot in HL. Your dresses for PDaG are wonderful and so generous of you to use such precious fabric to you. I can't wait to see that blue dress finished but I will miss seeing its beauty on the mannequin. 😂. Dry clean only ...pah... I swear they say that to keep dry cleaners in business 😂. You look so cute in that denim vest, you really suit them. Thanks for sharing your sewing and I'm so happy you had a great weekend with your girls. Xxx❤
Glad to hear you are ok. I enjoy seeing your finds and makes, but am especially blessed by your "little bit pf Jesus." I want to thank you for bringing awareness to the devestation in the Appalachia regions of Tn, NC ect. It is heartwrenching to see. Praying along side of you for the people, first responders, and search/rescue.
Hi Jen, the PDAG dresses are all lovely! I’m sorry the linen fabric turned out to be something else - but at least it shouldn’t get as creased! Glad you had a great time with your girls - their singing sounded wonderful! I’ve got nothing done this week, thanks to Covid. Looking forward to seeing your ‘linen’ outfit! Kind regards from Penny 🇬🇧😊💕
Jen, I'm so happy you are safe. I, too, have been wondering. I love the look of the turquoise dress on the dress form. I can't wait to see you modeling it. 🎉 Bernadette
Jen if your having trouble with wrap dresses, try Katrina over at Lifting Pins and Needles. She just showed the Eden from Sinclair and has truly raved about it. Everything one would have challenges with don’t exist with this pattern. This one may be calling your name. Worth a try.
You have been productive sewing!!! I'm with you on wrap dresses, I do not like low at all and can't find one that works so I give up, I'm all about shirt dresses. And I have been searching for kaki
Lovely little girls dresses! I love Alisa. She's so creative and artistic. That gorgeous white linen might make a fabulous beach cover... just a thought. My husband's brother, wife and 2 daughters live in Asheville. They're ok but please be praying for everyone in Asheville. It was hit really hard too. My heart is heavy for all the kids who are no doubt traumatized. God bless you.
Mine too. The devastation is unimaginable. I have a friend in TN and offered to come up and do what I can to help since my schedule is totally open. But she said so many of the roads have been closed and gas is limited, so better to stay home and hit my knees. Definitely doing that!
Dresses are cute 🥰. Wrap dresses and me don't go together, ive yet to find a fit thats not low. Ill stick to shirt dresses. And khaki color material, you would thinkbit would be a basic to carry at hobby lobby and joanns. I e yet to find. Im taking a asg trip to Minnesota to fabric shops in hopes of find some. I also have 5 girls, we did a girls trip over labor day and had so much fun. We went to my second daughter's in Oregon. Such a special time. I got the vomiting flu the day before we left so i got to stay few extra days. Have you made that vest pattern yet? I got it also and looking forward to seeing yours. Happy sewing, and definitely praying for all those in volved in the devastation.❤😢 ❤❤❤😢
The little girl dresses are so cute. Love the linen fabric and it’s going to make such awesome outfits. They are ok but my cousin and her family are in Georgia and have been without power since storm hit.
Yay you found the perfect linen, and of all places, freaking Hobby Lobby!!! Theres an idea I can (and will) steal! Love the angelic voices of your daughters. Seriously yall should all go on America’s Got Talent! ❤ cant wait for you to finish the blue dress on the dress form and show it off to us. Your butter colored linen would be so pretty as a vest. I say go for it!! Hope I can get down there soon, before the holidays rush in like a runaway freight train. I’m SO not ready for holidays!🎅 have a productive week! Love you!!❤🍦
I attended a Sandra Bettzina seminar years ago. She said that Dawn is the best soap for linen. Something in it helps prevent linen from wrinkling. Can't wait to see your 3 piece suit.
I am guessing based on the thumbnail, you found the linen thrifting in the drapery/shower curtain, bedspread section. Well knock me down, you bought fabric from the store!💕 I love the combo of the khaki and the Irish linen top. The vest and pants pattern is so sophisticated looking.
I’ve made the McCall’s pattern 6959. I found the armscye measurement was off. I couldn’t really raise my arms over my head without an issue. Sad because it was a cute sew up. Oh well.
Remember that other wrap dress, simplicity’s patter 7969? Everyone was sewing it and it was horrible! I sewed it and reserved it and resewed😢 finally it fits. It was way to low also.
Jen, I’ve never been much of a HL fan and if my JoAnn locations don’t improve, I will mark them off my list too. Evan Nashville locations of JoAnn’s is not what it used to be. So sad. My closet may be my fabric store; oh wait, it probably should be my store since I shouldn’t hoard🤣🤣🤣 I love saying, “It’s so pretty and feels so nice!” Leads to buying😳
dear jen❤ sorry 8f you received my last comment about Aline skirts and how tier skirts are more fashionable.....well vouge have just released a few new dresses and they are Aline... best wishes
Hi Jen. I'm glad you are OK. The linen fabric looks great on camera. However, when I looked it up at Hobby Lobby, the content is actually mostly cotton with some polyester. I guess they get away with calling it 'linen' because they could say that's the color? That's misleading to say the least. The D-A-G dresses that you've made are beautiful. I'm sure they will bring lots of joy to the little girls who get them, Antonia
Hi Antonia! You know, I double checked the bolt sticker and it did say linen, but it didn't say 100% linen. I wondered why that was. Honestly, I don't even care if it isn't all linen! I was going more for the color anyway. But thanks for letting me know - Ithat may affect the way it behaves in the wash so I'll keep it in mind. I appreciate you!

I just stumbled across your channel this morning. Subscribed immediately. I love that denim top you are wearing.
Thanks for subbing! That's a vest I thrifted. I love it, wear it all the time.
The girls dresses are very nice love how the mcalls pattern says EASY don't know about that good luck with the linen thank for a fun video 😊😊😊
Thank you!❤

I made eight PDAG dresses -- all but one of them were peasant dresses. I love (!!) the little seersucker dress you made!!!

Your Project dresses are soooooo cute!!! Great Job!!
Sorry I think I accidentally thumbed-down this comment with my fat fingers on my phone. Entirely unintentional 😂 It’s a lovely comment ❤

Hi Jen, Do you think you could dye the white linen into a colour of your choice ?? take care
That is an excellent idea.
dear jen❤ sorry 8f you received my last comment about Aline skirts and how tier skirts are more fashionable.....well vouge have just released a few new dresses and they are Aline... best wishes
No worries! I like both and have both. I have several tiered dresses that I wear nearly every day. Love, love, love me a tiered skirt!
I love hobby lobby, i have found some awesome fabrics over there. I am glad you are ok, I was wondering if you were hit. Thank you for the scripture.
It is gutting when a project doesn't work out. Well done for admitting defeat and moving on.
Saw your update, how rude of hobby lobby. 🤩
Jen there is a new skirt dress out
Knit dress

So glad to hear you are all safe and not underwater. The flooding looks devasting 😢 Sorry your fabric was not as you thought, very annoying 😮
It's fine - and we just got rain, no big deal when people in TN and NC have actually died when the water came in too fast. I am praying!
