I have a dragon. I had a Komodo - but I sold it. Footage just Looked like digital realty TV - has a more ‘soap opera’ effect to it. I still use my Dragon for narrative work. The footage looks like a movie.
Hey there! Picked mine up end of February with the same configuration. I have used Fx3 and 6 before. Not even close to the image it produces; the codec and look is something else! I am happy to see people still appreciating the dragon look over Komodo🤜🏻🤛🏻
Cannot go wrong. I used a Mysterium-X (along with dragon and helium) well into 2024 and created amazing images. The best part about 2024 is the amazing, budget friendly LED lighting that can be put to illuminate everywhere. 2024 is the golden age of cinema / filmmaking. Pick one and get out there.
I love the red dragon and its my absolutely dream camera, since i started with filmmaking. The old Videos of devinsupertramp with his glidecam and red dragon - fantastic 😍🎬
Danke für das mega Review im atemberaubenden Island-Setting! Gehe da komplett mit. Absolut nicht für jeden, aber irgendwie liebe ich die kabellose DSMC2 Reihe und den Output, den man daraus bekommt.
Love my RED! R3D makes it worth the investment. Happy shooting and hello from USA :) How do you compare Monstro to Dragon, I have 2x anamorphic and was thinking the VV sensor would get the maximum from the image circle. But how is the image quality across both cameras? Do you have any experience.
Anamorphic glass (2.0x, 1.5x) is absolutely gorgeous on both the Monstro and the Gemini sensor DSMC2 Cameras. Shot hundreds of National Tabletop ads on the Mysterium, Mysterium X and Gemini Sensors and a couple Feature Documentaries and Series, they each have their strengths and if you can light to their weaknesses you’ll always have a nice R3D to work with in post. I LOVE these cameras and about to buy a barely used Monstro for pennies on the dollar.
Thanks mate 😊 Yeah I think so with the Monstro you get more out of the image circle of your glass. Both are really nice but monstro is better for low light
Thanks for watching though question: 1. Komodo 2. C80 3. Pyxis 4. fx6 Pyxis and c80 is actually a tie but Pyxis and Komodo definitely have the most organic image out of the bunch. The Sony looks very digital to me.
I would say its not worth it. I have owend an Epic and Scarlet W. I tested them agianst the Black Magic Fullframe 6k. The image is so close that the downsides is not wort it, unless you want higher framrates. FYI if you update the Dragon X 5k you get a 6k and a 1.35 crop.
@@pauleporterdp Wow. It's great look. When people talk about cameras a lot of times people ask, What about Lumix? I've always been like, well what about Lumix?? I gotta admit the Lumix takes a really nice shot.
Yes they do - I also have the S1H which is a fantastic camera. Really nice image and colours. I was long time using the canon cameras but finally switched to Lumix.
Image is still as beautiful as ever, but the proprietary components is such a distasteful business model and (imo) is the major factor to the loss of legacy to what this camera could have been
But would I want to loose like 30 minutes in order to make a decision on which exact compression I need to shoot? Like, how obvious is the difference between 1:7 and 1:8 or 1:12 and 1:13 ? Instead DSMC3 gives me an ELQ / LQ / MQ / HQ, which overs like 100% of my theoretical situations? :-)
You are right. They should take our options. And let us record only in two formats. Sometimes I don't know what resolution to chose. We should just have one option. Why think if you don't have to.

Thanks for your feedback. I totally agree what you say about the dragon :)
You might fire your colorist ;)
How come? Can't you use the old pipeline with Komodo as well which will make the colors identical to dragon?
@@birthright94 colour science and motion cadence are two different things. You can’t change the shutter motion from frame interpolation in post.

Thank you so much ☺️
What a great review of this camera. There is actually not much to find about it on RUclips.
Thank you ❤
Thanks for your feedback :)

That’s true yes 🙌🏻
Schöne Sache Harry, schöne Sache!
Danke 🙏🏻

Oh yeah I remember those 😊
I have an old helium 8k and god. The picture is absolutely unreal
Yeah helium is also pretty nice :)
Great review 👏 I was wondering which camera/lens used here when you talk? IQ is so great here too
The entire talking head has been recorded with the Lumix S9 in V Log and a sigma 24-70 :)
@@pauleporterdp wow didn’t expect that. Looks awesome 🔥🙏
Thanks I’m glad that you like it 😊
They also made a handful of Dragon VV sensors - apparently they were a small fortune.
Ah I didn’t know that thanks for your insights :)
Dragon is still one of, it not the best sensor RED ever made. Nice work
Yes I think the same that’s why I wanted one 😊

My country's flag in the opening sequence #Epic
Ha ha thanks 🙏🏻
I love the Dragon 🔥🔥
Me too 😊
Dragon sensor is almost the same size as mirrorless 16:9… gorgeous sensor, but I still prefer Monstro
Thanks for watching and your feedback :)
how would you compare image quality of red komodo to canon c80, pyxis, fx6 if you had to do the sorting from best to worst
Thanks for watching though question:

@@pauleporterdp same🤘 and bonus one c400?
The c400 is great. Canon has some nice cameras. Still have my c70 which also has a fantastic image :)
Really considering this for narrative, is there a forum/ chat or FB group for the dragon 6k
I think so :)

Wie viele Akkus hattest du dabei? 😂
2 Micro v mounts die ich abends immer geladen hab das hat gepasst
Komodo X has the best image after Raptor for RED Cameras. Way better than Dragon
no
That is highly debatable I think

True but sometimes it’s nice for example when shooting interviews I use a higher compression ratio so it’s great to have the control.
