I wish I had the skill to do repairs like this. I’ve been watching this channel for many many years now and have always loved these videos. I’m so glad you have time to make and post more recently. Oddly relaxing to watch before bed.
Really kind of you to say and thank you. Anything is possible the more you do it. With most of these videos I try to take it from the approach that with a little trouble shooting, sometimes these things are possible. Thanks again for the support and will try to get more up soon.
Lol, we shall see. Thanks so much Juan, I really appreciate it. Im glad for the subs I have now and as long as people still find this stuff entertaining, that is more than enough for me. Thanks again
Had to smile when you realised there were no sprites on screen 😀. The PCB looked messy before you started, but good result Luke , another great save, hopefully just the cables to sort and bingo! 👍
Lol, I noticed that after the video. Yeah, I totally agree, I think that TAD was thinking about customizing as much as possible. My Toki pcb is the same way as well.
Thanks as always man and thanks for clarifying the graphics issue. I may just rebuild that ribbon cable if I have time but so far it is working ok lol. Hope you are doing well
As long the game is working that's all it matters my friend and as for Cabal is quite a decent game from Tad the guys behind Toki for a Rail Shooter like this is pretty Neat
nice, looks like another one crossed off the list! hope you can locate a better condition ribbon cable if that's all it needs. looking forward to the next repair!
I thought I had seen thise, but I probably just say "TAD Arcade" and thought Toki. That was the one with unfortunately a questionable design of mounting a custom chip precariously on the PCB (vertically) that if I recall had gone bad, and someone fortunately made a replacement, if I recall.
Thank you very much! A great question. I think it is possible to make a new cable but probably not the most fun. I would rather pick up a new set if I could find them to be honest.
I'm definitely a novice, but why use flux when you are using rosin core solder? I thought flux was already in the solder. I am making the assumption that you are using rosin core solder.

Hope that some of these tricks for trouble shooting will help out a little bit more. Thanks again
Thats pretty crazy how well the desoldering braid works. Instructive session as always, Luke!

Thanks a million. Its nothing special in terms of quality but I add as much of my personality as I can lol. Glad that the vids are still enjoyable

HAHA! trying to. Too kind but thank you so much!
Nice work. Glad to see a new repair video.

Live troubleshooting with Luke is really entertaining :) Love the new videos!
Thank you so much as usual, I really appreciate it and glad you like the vids :)
Thank you so very much Sir, greatly appreciated repair!
Thanks as always for the kind words.
It IS a Seibu boardset. TAD must had had a tremendous budget for hardware development as their PCBs have a unique set of ASICs for each game title.
Lol, I noticed that after the video. Yeah, I totally agree, I think that TAD was thinking about customizing as much as possible. My Toki pcb is the same way as well.
I've missed these videos. Cant wait for No3????
Thank you very much. I will try to get another board up here soon
Fantastic work Luke
Loving you sharing your knowledge Luke. Thank you sir!

Woohoo! One of my fav games this =D The graphics look normal at the end btw! So must just be that ribbon!
Thanks as always man and thanks for clarifying the graphics issue. I may just rebuild that ribbon cable if I have time but so far it is working ok lol. Hope you are doing well
Another great repair.
Thank you so much as always my friend
Nice work Luke.
Thanks a lot Komachi

Agreed! Thanks a lot. I have Toki as well and yeah, love these classics for sure.

Haha, for sure my friend :) I dont know if I can find another cable but as for now it is working well. Ill try to get up some more here soon.
@@lukemorse1 of course man, have a good one!
Cool fix
Really appreciate it Tony, hope you are doing well
@@lukemorse1 yw doing great Luke
Well at the very least you found the cause of the problem. Well done. Two down...
For sure, It seems to be holding up well and as long as Im not flexing the cables back and forth it should be ok I think. Thanks as usual!
another good save
Those ribbons look awfully similar IDE cables with different connectors on the end
I thought so as well but the ends are a bit wider and thinner. I wanted to try to swap them out but I couldnt. Maybe in the future.
@@lukemorse1 Ah, bummer. Of course they couldn't make it that easy! Making a custom cable for that looks like a proper nightmare 😂
I thought I had seen thise, but I probably just say "TAD Arcade" and thought Toki. That was the one with unfortunately a questionable design of mounting a custom chip precariously on the PCB (vertically) that if I recall had gone bad, and someone fortunately made a replacement, if I recall.
Clean the dust off dude.
Its dusted off now :)
Might be easier to just make your own cables from IDE cables and use a pin pusher to re do the connectors=
definitely a good idea for sure. The ends are a bit different than regular IDE but Im sure something could work.
Another great video Luke, can you make the ribbon cable from scratch or do you need to go to an arcade shop like TNT ?
Thank you very much! A great question. I think it is possible to make a new cable but probably not the most fun. I would rather pick up a new set if I could find them to be honest.
Are there schematics for this PCB? I am helping someone fix their PCB and I haven't found any schematics online yet.
You are simple but harmless (I hope)
I'm definitely a novice, but why use flux when you are using rosin core solder? I thought flux was already in the solder. I am making the assumption that you are using rosin core solder.
Hi Luke, i got a lot of faulty jamma boards you can repair for your videos if you are interested let me know
