This is glorious, I've been looking for "16 oz soy candle" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Cenadoelyn Candle Contemplation - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.
Fantastic tutorial. Best thing was it was no jabbering on about rubbish. Got straight to each point. If only all people who do utube were so efficient. Well done.
I knew i wasn’t the only one, have seen them since, never knew the name either. I thought it was only me seeing or knowing these only because the new time is more TikTok. TikTok reminded me they existed. RUclips is teaching me how to make them
Awesome candles! I do a lot of gel candles, but I found that shipping them between April - September to not work so well because if they are left on their sides in transit for too long, they can melt and become "deformed". I actually discovered this when I accidentally had one knocked off my shelf (lid was not on it) onto the carpet and it oozed out onto the carpet after just one day. Yes, it is scented in a gel safe FO, but the FO actually does change the consistency and the melt point. The other thing I do is mark them with a warning label that reads "For novelty use only. Not intended to be burned" especially if they have possibly flammable embeds or they are in the Coca-Cola glasses, which are fairly thin.
im new to candle making and im trying to find my niche for what kind of candles i want to sell on my online store. I just started experimenting with soy candles. What would you recommend for shipping in that time frame to prevent it melting or is it better to offer them as a seasonal product? also do you add wicks and scent still or no since its just made for novelty use?
@@bettyjane3321 I typically only offer them from October to April in limited scents. I only do 2 types, with one being the Cola one. I do wick the Cola candle to make it look like a straw, but the other one is not wicked and only scented. I shipped one of my non-wicked ones over the summer with a disposable ice pack wrapped around it along with 4 layers of bubble wrap, then packing peanuts. This was a 50th birthday gift for a friend, which is the only reason I my rule of not shipping in the summer months and sent it to her. Unless you have good candle insurance, I don't recommend doing gel candles. I am seriously considering getting out of the candles all together.
Tim, could check on this: I saw on RUclips that someone put their embeds in the jar and then cut up the gel wax into pieces. Put the pieces (not melted) into container with embeds. They put the jar with the unmelted gel on a towel that lined a baking dish with water added to baking dish. They then said to put this in the oven. I didn't hear what temp but until wax melted. This process = no bubbles.
Hello! have a question. I love your channel by the way. My question is how do you package and ship gel candles without them taking form of whichever side they could be laying on while shipping, considering the hot trucks they will be on?
Do you know if you can use mica powder in candles??? I'm curious bc the gel seems to behave really similarly to resin, so I wonder if mica would have the same effect as it does with resin. 🤔
Hey Tim! I really enjoyed this video as it was super informative...I have 3 questions...1) Were you able to easily remove the string from the beads(not sure if I missed it) ? 2) On average, how long do these gel candles last? 3) Im assuming these would be for pick up only for customers? Thank you!!!💫
Can you scent a gel candle by putting scent agents in there while it's hot and straining out solids? IE can I melt the gel with cloves in it, strain out the cloves, and pour? Or does it HAVE to be clove essential oil or clove liquid fragrance??
Your instructions was complicated....Thank you for that. Can you tell me which brand of fragrances and color should be used with the gel. How much of gel and ragrance i should use if i want to make 4 gel candles.
It's truly amazing that in the art world with something like this and honestly I can't find too many other things that share the same traits in the DIY videos but for some reason with the gel wax no one actually sits down and talks about what gel wax is specifically or how to make it and I don't think there's anyone out here actually making it which sounds to me like it's only two ingredients literally just polymer resin which I'm not a resin guy so I'm still trying to figure out what exactly the difference between polymer resin and epoxy resin is if any but this stuff is literally 95% mineral oil and 5% so that tells me if you want something super-dense maybe go for a 10% resin but where is that resin who sells that resin how much is that resin and is there a substitute for the mineral oil quite frankly I don't care minerals cheap but that brings me to my final rant and the entire point of this is why are we spending so much on already made gel wax when we should be able to make it for a quarter of the price
@Anna They arent secrets actually and I have done enough looking around to find out that it boils down to getting your hands on the right plastic beads. You can make it with mineral oil but its waayyyy different from product to product and it has to one specific polymer.. Turns out I could only find large bags of it from China and only one out of 8 responded to me and that one took a month just to respond. I forget almost everything and might be able to track down some history in my email but Its super protected thats for sure basically saying what you said in a different way so yeah trade secret is a fair term because no one talks about it but I CLEARLY SEE AN OPPORTUNITY HERE FOR DOZENS OF HOBBIES GETTING RICH OFF A DENSER VERSION. I wanted to make an alternative ballistic gel for target practicing my air rifles but its just not dense enough unless you make a block 2 feet long. There is a red gel product for making molds it5 was soooooo perfect but way too expensive. I'll let you know if I find the recipe and instructions but the link to buy the polymer bead product is void now... dang I wish they were still in business.
I am trying to use it outside of a candle that will sit inside of something. I was going to use resin but I prefer to use this instead if I can??? Does it get hard??
Can you add reg like veg oil and make an infinity candle only light the top and use the tip of the bottom of plastic bottle make a little hole in the middle put rolled up peice of paper towel
I made a huge gel candle that looks great except a bit cloudy. Is there any process or product I can use to “decloud” a gel candle? Or should I just count all my hard work and product as a loss?
Krys F Tim said it could be the fragrance that clouds. I also reused a glass candle holder. I just wiped it out, that made it murky. T poured the remainder in a tin container that came with my kit and it’s clear as can be. These were the first I made. My struggle is melting the gel. I ordered an electric heating stove but for now a double boiler. Do you have any idea for me? Tim did say fragrance would also make a difference. I bet that’s what it is 😿. I’m not giving up. I have to much $ invested 😻
Hi there Tim love your videos. I was wondering if you are using a 6 oz jar like a jam how many oz of sent or pound of wax do I need. Should I just use 3 oz on all my candles of dents. Or if you are doing wine or champagne candles how much sent and gel wax to use. I am new to all this candle making.
Great video. Didn't realize gel only holds 3 percent f.o. .... so does it actually give a decent hot throw? Can you actually smell it at 3 percent? Or is a gel candle really just made for looks?....
need double wick? What is the size of the jar? The jar looks like the jar I use for 4627 and I use one 70 or 75 Cottonwood wick. What size zinc wick are you using in both of these jars? Thank you.
You can print your own at home on Avery labels for example or you can get them on Amazon or directly from a candle company. If you make your own, it is easier as most labels are geared towards wax melts and paraffin / soy candles.

It's your fragrance oil. Some don't mix well with gel wax which is why you have to check the polarity as he shows mixing with mineral oil. :)
