As a practitioner of Taekkyon, I would like to point out that the master mentioned in the 1952 demonstration is not Song Deok-Gi (1893-1987) but Army General and one of Taekwondo’s founding father Choi Hong-Hi (1918-2002). Master Song Deok-Gi demonstrated his Taekkyon for Syngman Rhee’s birthday in 1958 and had no impact on the formation of Taekwondo, already set in motion.
    Regards.

Odd that there is no mention of the experience and training of the Kwan founders who all trained abroad before returning to Korea to ‘create’ their styles.

Taekkyon is not remotely like Taekwondo.

Amazing how Japanese influence is left out, especially the names of the founders of the original kwans, ignoring the fact that some of these Korean founders were ranking black belts in either Shotokan, Shudokan or Shito-Ryu. Teaching that TKD is 2000 years old are play out lies. Using true history and attaching it to TKD only confirms that Koreans would rather keep karate out of the mix. Stop using the honor code of the Hwarang (not Hwa rang Do) to build a foundation that actually started in China.

false propaganda,. some mural showing warriors doing similar moves as found in taekwondo doesn't mean taekwondo was practiced back then. There wasn't an art called taekwondo before 1950's and taekwondo was created out of karate.

Many Tkd books and videos do mention its roots from Chinese Kung Fu , Japanese Karate & Korea's ancient styles like Taekyun, Subak and a few others. In a nutshell modern Tkd was officially formed in 1955 , a modified combination from the former styles mentioned. *Most if not all martial arts are like Tkd, their roots are from several foreign & local "evolution of combined styles". Thus, like how China is proud of Wushu, Japan for Karate & Korea for Tkd. On tbis basis, there's no reason to debunk Korea's claim of owning Tkd just bcos its roots are from Karate & Wushu (Kung Fu)

Ancient korea has nothing to do with Taekwondo. It started as korea modifying Shotokan karate after some learned it during the Japanese occupation of world war 2. What ever ancient martial art was practiced in the past is lost in the sands of time. Especially after Japan tried to assimilate Korean to Japanese culture.
