The check engine light in my Toyota Corolla dashboard illuminated a few days ago so I decided to purchase an OBDII scanner from Amazon to see what the code is before bringing the car to the shop.
Having an OBDII scanner will help you greatly with your car trouble even if you do not intend to fix the problem yourself. This gives you an idea what the problem of you car is before bringing it to the shop. You will know if the shop is being honest with you or just trying to sell you other services that you don't need. I used to have the BFAX and pair it with a Torque Pro app and I love that product. I lost it a few months back so I decided to try this Autophix 3210 as it is a shorter platform and will fit perfectly in my Odysseys OBDII port without being on the way while driving.
After running the diagnostic, it shows that the problem is mostly with my fuel cap which is what I initially suspect because the light shows up a day after filling up with gas. So for this alone, I saved money already instead of paying a mechanic to hookup my car to their scanner. I am used to Torque Pro but I do like the presentation of this app as it is more user friendly.

This is the best explanation of the tool and app. Most don't show that the app tells you what caused the codes. I have one other scan tool that shows DTC explanations, so I ordered the Autophix also. Thanks for the video!
