It's not as cool as you would think actually. I myself have been with my children to watch it done in England and we rolled our own too, it was rather warm on our hands and I had to help my children roll theirs as they didn't like the heat on their hands, it wasn't burn-type heat when we rolled ours but it would have been much hotter when the staff were handling it in the beginning. However it was very interesting and very fun

I had no idea how much work went into traditional candy making. Props to the young woman who did most of the work, from the pulling, snipping, shaping and chopping at the end. Amazing!

I've never had the idea of being a candy maker as a job on my radar but seeing how satisfying and fluent these wonderful workers work together really appeals to me
The timing, the precision, the coordination, the patience, the endurance. This was fun to watch.
I myself have rolled jaggery syrup at home, it can be damn hot to bare hands. I guess these guys have protective gear.
Not can, will cause severe burns if handled incorrectly. There’s a reason that candy thermometers go up to 400 F and meat thermometers only hit around 200 F

Love this. Millefiori in candy. I do this with polymer clay - can’t imagine working with sugar on a hot table. Wonderful!
